At least they live on with TSO. They sang this song on the 2018 tour . Zak sang it on the East group ! And Andrew Ross did on the west group. I sat right here 😎😜ruclips.net/video/CWbd6PidXPM/видео.html
Old post but I do but I think this is because of Paul O’Neill changing the direction of the band to a more modern sound for that era to sound more like what was popular in the mid 90s like Nirvana
This song is a masterpiece, incredible arrangements, harmony and melody. It’s complex but nice for simple ears. Sad seeing that they didn’t the deserved success even arise TBO. They are the exact proof that popular success doesn’t mean quality or meritocracy. The world of music is treacherous when we assess because some bands so limited hit great popularity and sell huge quantities of their albums , despite show awful talent. Everything depends on the moment, good managers, investment by industry and mostly the prompted moment of popular taste. Savatage would be huge if was created during 70’s.
WOW THANK YOU!!! I love some bands more than Savatage but for me, nobody beats them live! They are truly a miracle. And Jon Oliva is a saint, And I have a relic: the towel he used on stage haha. Hope soon they will get back together and do another tour, and then I'll be in the front row again in Hungary.
I love how they do the multiple singing part on this song. This is actually the first song they did this with if I'm not mistaken. They sall that it worked and carried it over to the next following albums and to the present. Pure genius.
this song is fucking amazing live, so it is studio, but dunno, something about the whole band singing at the same time on stage, gives me shivers and make me like it more :P
I think one of the guys (Christ or Al) must join Zak for one more round. Then Zak leaves and starts: "Look away Look away" After few rounds of those "look away"s Jon leaves one of the guys (again Chris or Al, depends on who joined Zak for "I believe...." to keep singing the first stanza ("Father can you....") and starts: "Pictures at an exhibition Played as he stood In his trace Staring at his inhibitions All the time believing That it now came down to Nothing but this chance" And that's all.
They all meet for "Chance" at the end. However I'm not sure. I've watched some videos but they're too dark and badly cut. I saw JOP do this (the full version in 2009) and I can't remember the way the parts are divided between the guys on stage. I was so blown away in the first row :)
@eco7savatage who cares anyway.. so was I at the concert of that tour I saw and it ROCKED !!! one of the best concerts I ever saw since I go to concerts (which is 28 years now ;-) )
@bryanpplan I'm wondering the same. I think Zak, Jon, Chris and Al are all the vocalist. You can see Johnny is not singing and you can't see Jeff sing but that's not likely he would sing. Apparently Jon starts it with: "Father can you hear me This is not how it was meant to be I am safe and so are you As for the other's destiny" For the second round Zak, Chris and Al all join to sing the same one more time. Then Zak goes: "I believe that situations All depend on circumstance" And then I'm lost.
@xfbeni my bad, i was sure i read TSO hehe, and well in that case, I wish it too, another sava world tour would be awesome, but we can always dream about it :P
I will never get over how amazing this band is.

Huh I find myself here again instead of homework that’s fun
Love this shit lol
This is the best band I've seen in my life, especially its evolution ...
This song is a masterpiece,
If you look at Jon's writing style from 15-20 years ago, you can hear the beginnings of the TSO. This song is pure genius!

I saw this tour in 1998 in Detroit. One of the greatest concerts in my life.

Brilliant work always by Savatage - "Jon" - your composure is unsurpassed!

Thanks for the upload! Great memories. I saw them on this Magellan tour in 1997 (Budapest, E-klub). Easily in the top 3 shows of my live.

Also, I like Jon Oliva better than this dude only cuz he was the original. This dude is insane though.
