You were like playing... perfect team. An example about amazing things you can achieve with minimal production, a smart and inspired photographer and a model having fun. Congrats!!!
For RUclips content I always have fun because it’s no pressure on what the client wants. We are just shooting and experimenting.
These are the best photos I've ever seen in a lens review!
Free photos for all pretty girls. Lucky
😂 really?
X-T4 magic
I agree.
Pretty nothing special lol, imo.
Model photography is a true mystery to me.
The most insane poses get you great results.
Here, for instance, the model looks amazing in pictures even though, if you look at the scene from a distance, she looks like she’s taking a dump standing up. This is nuts.
I was thinking the exact same thing. It looks so stupid in the videos but the photos look perfect… 😂😂😂
She is going to look good regardless of pose.
Such a great review! This right here is a true photographer!
All these photos were cold as hell. I love this lens, and I’m definitely gonna take some portraits with it now.
It’s a fun lens
Beck was amazing! Her energy shines thru and gave the images that spontaneity, i would have done the same, shutter on continuous and just spray away. Photos were excellent, congrats to both of you but its not a lens for me i would save a bot more and get the 50mm F1
Lee I have to say I have watched this video probably 20 times but quality review aside, the photos you took here are just ridiculously sick. You (and Beck) are something else its inspiring. Thanks for all the work you do.
fun and stunning model! killer shots as usual! Also love the energy and movement in these shots and how well it works with the wardrobe. your composition and angles are amazing and really stretch me to think about improving in these areas
Thanks for watching :)
My X-T4 with 23mm f1.4 has been sitting around collecting dust. I rented the 18mm f1.4 and I love the images I am getting. Better for shooting when out with friends, very sharp, and just worth buying in my opinion. Selling the 23mm and buying this.
OMG. Take my money now and these are the best photos I've seen on your channel. Amazing work by you and Beck.
I didn’t want this to end. Lovely video. Now I can’t wait to get my 18mm lens
Just got this lens last month and it’s been on my XT4 since. Great one lens carry for a day in NYC, love it. Thanks for the in depth review. Beck has a great disposition!!
This was a surprisingly great viedeo! I learned alot about model photography as well.
Killer photos you two. I especially liked the more distant shots owning tge landscape, and the closer-in 18mm head and shoulders shots. Oh man, this lens looks too good - and 18mm / 28 equivalent is my favourite focal length. I mean I love my 18mm f/2 on my X-Pro3, it firs perfectly and has great 'pop', but for my low-light gug and wedding work this looks the business. The 16mm f/1.4 is great and all but was always just a bit too wide for me, so a trade in I think! By the way love your shots where you see the fold out screen as you shoot. Real cool.
Wow every shot is perfect. Damn I feel so inspired.
I came here for the lens and I keep coming back for the awesome portraits, you are one of my favorite natural light portrait photographers on youtube. I love wide angle portraits
I’m a longtime Fuji shooter, specializing in portraits & headshots. Occasional family session or engagement session. Do you find the XPRO 3 a good portrait camera? I’m currently shooting with the XT3 and X100V, but the X100 has really made me fall in love with the rangefinder feel. And yes, I definitely want this lens!
Amazing portrait session Lee. You guys were both amazing!
Glad you enjoyed. Thanks for watching
0:30 Lee, I'll have you know those are Nostalgic Negative glasses 😂👌
Makes everything look like it’s colourgraded haha
@@LeeZavitz I have some Persols that slightly increase saturation on greens, though every other color looks normal tint. They are amazing to wear when walking in nature, feels like you are inside one of those vivid Samsung Galaxy photos :D
Nice review, great shots, love the Cam Mackey vibes here :D
These photos were dope man! I just wish Ontario had better landscapes for this styling 😭😭😭
Need the desert
Thnx for the great video, so motivated.. I’m a starting with portraits and your videos are a big part of that :) learning with each video 🙏
,,
Yes! Get out there and create some magic
Killer photos and that model is pure joy 👌
Yeah she was so awesome to work with
Mega.. what a great set. She owned those shots.
Awsome shots, love the movement In them 👍 and the colortones.
Bro I’m judging you for singing Taylor swift. But also, you guys fucking crushed this shoot! Dope work brother 🤟🏽🤟🏽
TIM MCGRAW 🎶
Dude you deserve so much better statistics on RUclips. Awesome content, and you’re such a good photographer. I just bought your presets.
Some of the bw pictures are absolutely amazing
This is the only review on this lens that's made me consider getting it over the 16mm 1.4. Loved the photos.
Unless you need the extra 2mm wider I would rather have the 18mm. But the manual focus is much nicer on the 16mm if you do that often
in this video I focus more on how to take photos and direct the pose of the model not on what camera and lens to use. thank you so much for sharing 🍻
That’s usually partly my intention of these videos. I try to show a back seat into what it’s like shooting as well as info on the gear
I just picked up this lens a few days ago, haven’t had time to shoot it yet, but will Saturday. This completes the trilogy of my street photography lenses! 👌
what are the other two?
@@mattndeedeegardner7471
The 90 F2 and the 50 F2. I have found over the last five years that these three lenses will give me everything I need in regards to street photography.
Considering Fuji cameras aren’t the fastest or most accurate in auto focus, you need the fastest focusing lenses you can get. And the bokeh on all three is really good!
Nice demo on lens 👌👌😊 . Also the model looks grogeous , stylish and fashionable 👌👌
I never thought of 18mm (eq 27mm) as a portrait focal length, until now. Thanks for the great video!
You two nailed that shoot that's for sure.. 👍📸
Great review & photo shoot. The model is one of the coolest I've seen in 30 years as a photographer. She just gets it!
The colors are sooooo good
Wow so many killer shots!
All these photos are dope bro & dope video yessuh
This is my favorite video of your work. Thanks. I even subscribed because of it.
Wow these shots are incredible!
Hey there! Quick question when you selected the wide do you need to make another adjustments on your setting? When I selected Zone my shots are blurry. Hoping you can advise some tip’s I’m using xs20 btw. Thanks!
Good job, the edited colours are so nice, 7:40 is my favourite one.
Great info again buddy, I'm eyeing up your presets right now for my Fujifilm workflow :-)
Great images and a fun video. As much as I truly love my Fuji lenses, I come from the Canon R5/R6 and the autofocus has been a monumental step backwards. It hasn't bothered me too much because I'm not shooting sports and weddings with my Fuji stuff, but it's pretty hit and miss with this X-E4. That hasn't stopped me from taking the next step and buying an X-T4 when they get back in stock, though...these are probably the most fun digital cameras I've ever owned and I love the look the lenses provide. That said, I don't think I can part ways with my 18mm f/2 for my street and travel photos. This lens looks to be optically incredible, but the size/weight of the f/2 is hard to beat for my uses.
Yeah ive been shooting Sony as my main camera for the last 3 years and even when I shot with the R5 I would still say Sony is more reliable and predictable. Fuji has the tech. I think it will be amazing in the next generation of Fuji cameras
Dope pictures and perfect model! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Really nice evil pictures. The black and white are my favourites from the beginning.
Absolutely gorgeous photos man…
Wow! I enjoyed this a lot. Keep doing Lee :)
My new fave channel ❤️
Hey Lee! Geat content, glad to have a solid dp testing gear. I am switching to Fuji, my first set up being the Xt4 with 18-35mm but I was wondering if you have speedboosted any of your primes on the Fuji with like a metabones or something like that? I really want to speedboost some Xeen cine lenses, but not sure what the result would be. Thanks for the great content will be scrolling through to see if you have any footage with the x cameras !
Ive only just used a regular adapter. Never used a speed booster on Fuji cams. Sorry
Awesome photos! Random question - does your 18 make a “clunk” noise when turned off? I have 33mm 1.4 LM and there’s some audible movement in that but not as loud as the 18.
Howdy folks. I noticed this comment. I don't have either of these lenses, but I have read before of this sound in other Fuji lenses, having to do with magnets if I remember correctly. I understand it is quite normal. - Dave
Well I just bought the XT4 so I definitely got to invest in this lens in the future. For now I’m just gonna adapt some of my vintage glass. My Takumar 24 & 50
Nothing wrong with that. Love vintage lenses
Beautiful stuff man!
Really nice bokeh! Also the lens is a nice size. Not too bulky. I liked your video and subscribed to your channel!
Amazing, and the model OMG
I like the 18mm focal length I was thinking of getting this to replace my F 2 version. But your correct the autofocus between Fuji lens is inconsistent. I know the F 2 is an older Fuji lens but it sounds like death when focusing.
Do the internal components shift when tilting the camera up and down? I rented the lens to test it out and I love it. I'm wondering if I was sent a bad copy.
Cool photos : ) Great model too👏
Damn Lee!! Amazing photos!!
What kind of autofocus did you set during the shooting? AF-S, AF-C? Fantastic photos!
I don't know English well, sorry..
You killed the shot ! Model and garde robe are awesome 👏
Pure 🔥🔥🔥
Love from France.
Probably my favorite photoshoot from U.
Where can we find those shoots?
👋
Lovely!!! Great video.
Awesome work! Man I wish I could get over my fear of natural light!
It’s all about balance. And it massively matters where you position your subject in the light.
Hi, excellent shots, I snapped T-4 last month and looking for a good prime lens and this seems to be the one! Can I just ask what kind of filter are you using to get the cold - faded look? Im loving it :-) Thanks
Amazing shots!
Wow nice work homie.
aaaa nao eu amo o seus videos 👏🏻😍😍😍😍 parabens por mais um video incrível
So glad I found your channel. I just love natural light stuff. I also love listening to you speak with (rather than at) the models. While a lens like this is not even close to my budget, there is lots to learn here about posing a model and having fun. In terms of the Fuji f2 trio(23, 35, 50), which do you think would be the best to as a starter prime? Those are the most affordable for me and I'd love to get one of them. Thanks!!
The 35mmf2 is a good lens (for photos) the 23mm is my least favourite of the 3. And can’t go wrong with the 50mm as well. But I would recommend 35mmf2 first
@@LeeZavitz Thank-you! I do want the lens for photography, not videos. Specifically, shooting portrait/fashion like in your video. Thanks again for your input.
Great review, thank you!
You’re the man Lee!
Just for my understanding not all photos are SOOC? Or they with an internal recipe?
Killed it!
I figured (as a Fujifilm user) that I'd check out this video for a couple of minutes, but I stayed to the end which is not something that I can say very often.
Very nice!
So the Q is, should I sell my 16 for the 18? I can never get rid of my precious Made in Japan
Lol nah bro can’t give up my 16!
@@rumporridge1 I still like the 16 better in my opinion
Your photos are amazing. Unlike the other "photographers" who all they know is wide open the lens , spay and pray.
But. Watching you shooting liveview with xpro3 still funny af.
As always fantastic samples for a lens review. I hate when I have to look at random photos done in house or backyard. Keep up with high quality reviews.
This lens is not perfect but for XF series one of the best ;) ordered one ;)
The only thing they could have improved or designed was to have some dampening in the focus ring. It’s so weird that every Fuji lens is so different
Fuji should update their entire f1.4 lineup and make them like the new xf 18 with fast AF and weather resistance.
Have never liked 18 mm, but after this photos i changed my mind
Great shots there Lee!! is just a Fuji Film Simulation or did you do an edit? just love those colors
My presets. They look similar to Fuji film sim but with some tweaks
did you use your classic ports presets you sell in these photos mate?
great video, i would ask, if i have 33mm f1.4 for now, which one is better to buy first ? 18mm f1.4 or 23mm version 2 ? or 16mm f1.4 is enough ? thanks
I would pick the 18mm. That’s a good combo. 18mmf1.4 and 33mmf1.4
Nice photo
Hay my personality one question graded pics using or photoshop and both ?
Great review, how it compares ttartisan 17mmf1.4? seems tt also has great bokeh, low distortion but much lower price:)
Bro you are skilled
Edit: Ima buy them presets right now
you’re awesome! ❤️❤️❤️
I liked it very much 👍👍
23 mm f1.4 or 18mm f1.4 which lens better sharper pls help me
始めまして。日本人です。全ての写真が素敵です。フイルムシュミレーションは何を、使ってるんですか?
why you can catch so much shot on burst? if i were using my xt3 in burst mode, I probably get most of them out of focus
Sometimes it just depends on your focus mode and focus area. I usually don’t use face af and I use a smaller spot so that I can precisely focus where I want
Can’t decide this or the 23 I have the 56
Depends on what you are typically shooting. 23mmf1.4 is also really nice made a video on it as well
Lee. you look like someone who must be very sad that our dear Jeff Beck disappeared from our good old earth. I’m sure I’m not wrong. Otherwise excellent video as always. JB, a French follower. 👍
Lol'd at the Windows XP hill.
9:26 what is the song?
Found it myself ... tigerblood jewel the bayou
So since it's APS-C, then it basically becomes a 28mm f2 roughly right?
Correct. Fullframe equivalent.
How do you set the focus?
hi nice pictures!
One question : I see the settings on your screen and they don't match with the ones you show on the pictures. At 9"57 you are at f4 but not the picture and there is still bokeh or it's just an impression?
Could have been a typo on my part
@@LeeZavitz I'm confused. I think the picture is at 1.4
Nice video an great lens! Isn't left my camera since I bought it. Curious what your focus/ tracking settings are?
I think I had it set to multi purpose. It’s usually pretty good for that speed. I have tried erratic moving subject as well
@@LeeZavitz thanks man, I'm always trying to up that hit rate! I usually have it on the cheetah or ski jumper😂
what is the point of test a fast lens during daylight...
Wow!!❤
