“Don’t practice until you get it right, practice until you can’t get it wrong” totally changed my perspective when it comes to practice. Will try to keep this in mind next session!
"...to help you avoid these mistakes in your own badminton journey: number one is having fun ... " love it; neither do i need, nor do i want more context.
As usual, quality content. It's always refreshing to see pros open up about their mistakes and share insights on how to avoid common pitfalls, especially since it can be rather personal. Thanks, cheers and happy badminton-ing! :P
I also was very serious about my training and my attitude towards playing for fun changed after seeing your videos in which you always told having fun is important Well thanks for that🙂
My school started badminton for gym and my firned had his own set so we played with it and like we didint know 4 hours passed because we had so much fun playing I definitely will keep watching your videos
Great content, as always! Just let me add a personal No 8 to your list, which I sadly watch ever so often: don't stop learning and training new skills! For me, at age 60+, Badminton is my favourite area to prove that 'an old dog can learn new tricks, too' - as we would put it in German. So many players around me just stop growing as players around the age of 60, 50, or even 40. That's so sad to watch, and boring to play with.
Brilliant video as usual! I'd really love to see a live commentary/analysis of one of your tournament games; where you could go through what shots you played well, which shots would've been better to play, and overall what techniques you'd recommend in what attacking and defending scenarios (with links to the relevant tutorials you've done). I love watching your tutorials but sometimes struggle to put them into practice when in the heat of battle haha, so I think this would be a great way to recognise the scenario on court and put into practice what I've watched. Thanks again guys!
I loved the part where you described how viktor enjoys that shot, and truly speaking, I practice the same shot too, just for fun, I am 19 though, and not that young :P. Great video, by the way, and thanks for all the insights.
The 'playing against people better than you' point I think is the most important. Im in Japan and there are so many local clubs that vary vastly in skill, from beginner groups to people who have been playing for 10/20+ years at a very high level. I've started pushing myself to ask to play against people quite a bit better than me and even though it's incredibly scary, just by playing those people, they will expose your weaknesses and make you aware as to where you are going wrong and it'll drastically improve your game! Also feels amazing when you finally get a win over them!
The only video that I enjoyed watching is your videos and your mathcs and even i make mistakes a lot and thank you for the advice and keep up the good work and wish you a happy life
Great advice ! I also really got a kick out of seeing little Jen up in the stands watching a game! You guys are my favorite mixed doubles team. I look forward to seeing your next video on ur competition. The last one was really cool seeing what u guys went through in the whole competition environment. That was a really enjoyable video

in indonesia,we notice there are alot of fun in national training centre, indonesia national players even often tiktok after court session,in training, they teasing each other.....but its down to indonesia culture, here if you seldom smile or laugh or jokes or dance, then you are not indonesian......hope you guys keep success in everything you do....cheers.....
Ahh, I see you've finally come round to my style of goal setting. Top 20 seemed too easy for me, so I just focused on improving ;). Atomic habits are actually v interesting! Unfortunately I have almost none. 👍
I totally agree that playing with people better than you helps you improve so much and faster than training drills (imo)...the pace is much higher and the shot quality is so good that you're forced to use everything in your arsenal. 7:25 oh my that was so cute 😆
I had 2 very different coaches when I was growing up. One who made every session fun, and one who didn’t. Strangely I ended up modelling my game around the coach who made the sessions fun… 🧐😂
I'm in the category of number 6. I don't usually get a chance to play someone better than myself so while playing I do many half lifts to have some competition. I've been playing badminton for 20 years and watched you guys play in the German open. I wish I could give you guys some of my technique which is always works. The deception which is my main skill rather than ultimate power
Hi both Another enjoyable video. It’s a shame you missed out playing in Birmingham this week. The atmosphere was great with audiences back to support the players. Will we get a chance to see you at the commonwealth games later this year?
Aloha Greg and Jenny, awesome tips, thanks for sharing these hard learned points over your 20 year careers. Wishing you guys much success in the future, stay well.
Rules Question. Player 1 plays a drop shot, shuttle hits net and starts to fall to the floor, player 2 touches the net with racket before the shuttle lands. Who’s wins point? All happened very quickly. Love the vids keep up the good work.
I am 13 yr old intermediate badminton player from India and a huge fan of yours...I tried to get badminton fitness and footwork programme but couldn't get via pay pal. I need ur guidance to improve my game.. Pls advise how to do
One racket that won my heart and i still enjoy playing with is VIktor BraveSword 12. It's just so easy to love it ! The speed and power i get on some of my shots still amazes me. Give it a try if you haven't :)
Hi Greg and Jenny I have a question. Can I build muscle and still play badminton well? Will muscles slow me down or should I remain skinny? Does training a muscle group help in badminton? Can I train all muscles in my body? Like chest, biceps, triceps, glutes and calves
Thank you so much for this video this is definitely gonna help me improve in the future so much of love from India ... also who is it replying ? Greg or Jenny
how do you manage to be more regular in training sessions? some days i'm good others i'm pretty bad, but i try to be focused in every training session?
What with the 1st one ?? i dont get it ??? Having fun is a mistake when you 'play' your favorite sport ??? there a misunderstanding here, i think enjoy playing it is a should do. I totally agree with the Viktor Axelsen part, i like watching he plays.
Man, I'm kinda scared... I want to be an international player but I'm starting to take it only seriously at 14 years old, of course I've been playing for a while, doing wrong techniques and stuffs... And I've improved a lot in the last 4 months too! But I'm afraid that training for 3 hours only would not work, upping it up would be hard,if necessary, I will and I'll try to do it... But, please.. Do you honestly think I can become a professional international player by training seriously at 14 years old and 3 hours a day?
Good question! Try to focus on what you are learning when you lose and then target some areas for improvement. This process should be rewarding and you should see yourself do better over time. If you are always losing easily then it might be worth dropping down a level if you can to play with people who are more equally matched to you. This way you can experience the enjoyment of winning matches which may help you have more fun :-)
@badminton insight I know we should enjoy the process rather than winning But we all are playing badminton (not for fun but as a professional player) ultimately winning so how we can do both things at that same time...?😖😖😖

I really like to play badminton and this is the best things that I CAN do while playing
Both of you are #1 in my book. All sports need more people like the two of you.
That clip of little Jenny was adorable. 🏸
Ah thanks a lot Dave 😀 haha it was (from Greg)

Very much relatable especially number 1. Sometimes we just forgot that badminton is also a game and that we play because it is fun
Definitely!

Finally someone says Perfect practice make things perfect, really nice. I heard this only once before from a famous and really great vocal coach.
V nice video once again indeed on a unique kinda topic. "Funminton" is the key 😍
Thanks! Haha funminton 😂
Not knowing you two gorgeous people would have been the biggest mistake in my badminton life... Thank you for all the efforts.

Thank you so much for this video this is definitely gonna help me improve in the future so much of love from India ... also who is it replying ? Greg or Jenny
You're very welcome, that's great to hear! We both reply together 😀
Hi greg what is the weight of your racket after adding grip and string..plz tell 🥺🥺
How I can practice lift, smash or some other shot if I train alone? Do you have some ideas?
Do you sometimes play in single or is it useless at a certain level for double players ?
We don’t really play it no but we believe it is quite good for doubles, especially for younger players!
how do you manage to be more regular in training sessions? some days i'm good others i'm pretty bad, but i try to be focused in every training session?
Hi again
Is it fault if I drop my shuttle before swinging the racquet while serving?

The first 3 were pretty reletable. Had fun watching
That’s great to hear 😀
An honorable mention would be that some badminton players don't place enough emphasis on physical fitness and only rely on technical skills
Is it bad to play 6 nights a week at club nights?
Of course not!
How can I have fun when I am losing
Good question! Try to focus on what you are learning when you lose and then target some areas for improvement. This process should be rewarding and you should see yourself do better over time.
If you are always losing easily then it might be worth dropping down a level if you can to play with people who are more equally matched to you. This way you can experience the enjoyment of winning matches which may help you have more fun :-)
