Your always staying on top of the new toys, electronics, jigs, rods... from a guy who would like to get out more, But when I do I use Tom Boley's Tips and Tricks thank you Sir!! Keep it coming.
Can't wait for the hooked up shirts and to be in the "Tom Boley takes a RUclips fan fishing" video. Your content is hands down the best when in it comes to walleye fishing the Midwest. I've been fishing walleye my whole life and you still teach me new stuff! Appreciate your work Tom, thanks again!
Man I can’t wait to go back to work! I’m unable to afford things atm...but I’m eye balling a few things on your site for the future!! I love this channel, and I’d love to do more in support beyond liking and sharing the content, but I just simply can’t. Soon though...also, out of all the guys I sub too on RUclips, you are definitely my favourite Tom...thanks to the tips and advice I got from your videos, I was able to get on the fish most of the time, while not having a flasher or scope of any kind. Keep pumping out the great content Tom...I also enjoy the reviews you do on new baits by actually using them...your jigging techniques are also key because I also noticed that walleye will respond differently in different water temps. Anyone who thinks Tom Boley doesn’t know what he’s talking about has clearly consumed too much fluoride from the tap water...😂😂😂
Tom what’s up bud. It’s so cool to have a person like you come to my home town of new richmond! I am actually heading up to hayward this weekend for opener! My uncle just put the mega 360 on his boat and this helped so much! so sick
Tom, I just re-rigged my electronics on my boat and learned a lot while completing it. It might be a bit technical, but would love to see the video on the rigging to pick up more tricks. Thanks for the video Tom.
Where you put that mount can be a trip hazard. Otherwise, I really appreciate all the detail you include in your work. Education of the masses from a highly experienced fisherman is a gold mine for us. Keep up the good work Tom. You are appreciated.
I have been trying to watch everything you are putting out ? I would have to say you are doing very well at keeping us informed on the hummingbird products. I might have to go down to New Richmond and check it out ? I am actually only a little ways from you and have fished around Hayward for many years. I just have not been able to keep up with all the electronics coming out..thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the advice Tom, I've been trying to figure out how to mount a finder on the front of my boat and seeing how you rigged it up gave me some good ideas.
In general, the TI units are faster in response to inputs. This is seen when quickly switching between sonar, downscan, chart, and split screens ruclips.net/user/postUgkxeAxH15LxhjGlg5-CRYqjTGTEH0tbY4vk recommend The Hook units will show some lag on button pushes and screen switching. The big ticket item though is maps. If you install a mapping card such as Navionics or the free C-Map Genesis which has a lot of map detail, then moving around the map with the cursor or when running down the lake can lag significantly on the Hook units, but is seamless with the TI units.
Thanks for putting this out! I just installed my Mega 360 and will be using it for walleye. There aren’t a lot of videos out there on M360 and walleye. Most of them are on bass.
Tom questions. So the 360 works best when stationary or moving very slow? My fear of using it while moving is that with the slower refresh rate you may tend to miss items or they may move out of screen. I tried to use SI mounted to at the front of the boat, but moved too slow and the images became distorted. Second question, how does the 360 work when the fish are in or closer to structure or cover? You show that you are using it on sand flats or fish just off rocks. But, how does it work when fish are mixed in timber or on the rocks???
You should get a glass top for your desk. Keeps the cool dock look, but don't have to worry about your pen poking through the paper or falling through the crack
Tom,your channel and content is amongst the best on youtube!do you offer a guide service also?or acyually hummunbird lessons??that would be worth the drive up there!
Thanks for the info vid. Looking forward to when they put that 360 ducer in the head of a trolling motor. Technology curve is fast, looking forward to that day. Not digging the clunky broom stick and giant ducer. No offense meant to your equipment choice or very informative video, keep up the great work.
Wondering if you noticed any interference with side imaging and 360 transducers? Did you run everything through a network? Great job showing how the 360 can be used and mounted separately from the trolling motor
Ok so side imaging to find the location and then 360 to pinpoint the exact area? Trying to figure how to use in tandem rather than replacing one with the other. Hoping you do not start using panoptix/livescope
Why? Garmin blows the bird out of the water. People are such dip shits when it comes to sticking to a name brand just because it’s what they use. Like sticking with a has been sports team or a bad habit that gets you nowhere.
@@2cthetruth I understand your point. I tested both last fall to decide what to use. I’ve learned a lot from Boley and I wanted to use similar things in application.
Do you set up your own batteries to power all of this? I just bought my first boat, and I have no idea what I’m doing with chargers, battery setups lol
You might want to take the screen protector off. It's not meant for long term use and it makes a glare on the camera. It's wouldn't hurt to give the cables a bit more slack at the top of the 360. I do installs and I always leave enough slack at the top that a quarter could pass through it. FWIW I send a lot of my customers to your videos. They are great learning tools.
Dam Tom, because of you now I need that transducer for my helix G2NSI , ok now the question how do I get that transducer set up like yours and how much Tommy?
Dude these things are dumb. Fish populations will continue to decline as more and more anglers get tools that take almost no knowledge to find fish. Not saying you shouldn’t have it, Tom, but more regulations will need to be put in place as fish become easier and easier to find.
I will give you my 2 cents on the comment allDayFairway which is that guys like Tom make it look a lot easier than it is to catch fish with electronics. Most guys I know who are fishing addicts, not saying they're elite or whatever, but fish all the time, they have not come close to mastering SI or 360 like TB. They don't have the confidence in what they're seeing. I agree with you electronics have made catching fish easier, but don't agree at all that it takes 'almost no knowledge' to find fish with SI/360.
We as sportsmen and women need to follow the posted catch and possession limits. The technology makes it easier for me to find and hopefully catch fish but does not relieve me of my responsibilities. I enjoy fishing and want my kids and grandchildren to enjoy it also.
@@markfloyd4274 I couldn’t agree more. Catching over keeping any day of the week. In my opinion we need tighter restrictions on walleyes and panfish. No one needs to keep 25 panfish and no one needs to keep 5 walleyes (a lot of places are 3 now) but with the amount of guys who fish only for food and to fill their live well as some weird sense of pride, we need to up our regs.
@@markfloyd4274 absolutely - but for some reason the game and fish authority still sees the need for 25 + in some areas panfish as “limit” or even 3/5 walleye daily.... its nonsense and part of the reason fishing is declining. Hundreds of boats /anglers targeting same areas or waters could decimate quality populations. This type of tech forces lower keep limits, yeah its fun, but most people do not realize just how many years it takes crappies to get 14” (5) 26” walleyes (12-14yrs) 20” smallie same... IMO not a great investment. Garmin is top hands down. 360 has been replaced by livescope. I own two garmin ultras and coming from humminbird onix/helix, the ultras blow them away. Processors are top notch; no lagging or freezing. Following schools of fish in real time is awesome. 360 is old tech and too slow. Side/down imaging is crisp. You wasted a lot of cash on old tech Tom. Humminbird must be paying you...I just can’t see why you’d stick with cheap ass birds.

Just curious, did humminbird not like you doing your Garmin Live scope videos? Where did it go ? . Or did you not like it?

The crib is 20 ft off the transducer, not the bow. Gotta keep in mind where the transducer is on the boat and which way it's pointed.
I need to break down and get a new fish finder.
Gunna need another helix for when humminbirds live comes out! 🤣
I heard Hummingbird live is coming out sometime this year

Does the 360 hook up to helix 7 gen3 mega down?
Online says 8 and up I think.
Wow nice score, it didnt look like you had transducer that far in the water, how can it get a good reading if its blocked by your boat?
If 360 is like regular SI it shoots straight down first so this would not be an issue.
