You need a serious amount of patience to look through the records at Rob's; you can barely pass each other in the aisles - actually, mostly, you can't. You have to come out of the aisle to let someone by. There are tens of thousands of records here. If you really want to look properly, you have to lift pile after pile out of the way, so you can look through a rack. It's a truly amazing experience; a mix of fun and mild aggravation, but I still try to get in there every couple of months. There will be something for you, and the prices are totally fair. We need more places like this. Thanks Rob.
My memories of Rob is he often had the last spot of the night at a all nighter, like at king's Hall Stoke, and that would be because he would have just come straight from djing at some other soul night 100 miles away!! And still set himself up the the record bars at these venues selling amazing tunes for fair prices! Down to earth, always gives you the time of day, totally dedecated to the corse!! a true Norherern soul gentleman as well as legend!! Rob Smith..Top bloke,dj and record dealer! Much respect!!👍👍🛵
Awesome video, thank you for sharing, i used to live in Rob's in the 80's, every saturday i'd be in there digging away, i remember his father bless him sitting behind the counter, still got loooads of vinyl that i bought from rob, think it's time to get meself back down there :-)
