Served 1975-77. Got there as a E-2 cook, and left as a 2nd class. Alpats werent easy duty, and I still take pride in having served on board.Lots of great ship mates for sure.
JAN-DEC 1991, from FRAM to Commissioning, pretty cool time to be on-board.
Great memories. She was a true beauty! YN2 in the ship's office '77 - '78.
Aug 75 - Aug 77 FA to DC3. Aux, scullery, Main Prop, scullery, DC shop striker to LPO DC shop. Juneau, Dutch, St Paul, Adak, Victoria BC, King Cove, and Kodiak more times than I can count. Two liners on the MDE replaced underway, spades, hearts, pong and a 67-degree roll seen on the ER inclinometer, lots of boardings of which I did none, good memories.
Served (if you could call it that) from about October '79 until February '82 when Ronnie "RIFed" me out of there!
Some unique memories from those years. Bunch of great shipmates ... and a few assholes, lol!
ANAV, Training O & Admin O, 1985-86.
1981 - 1985 Radarman. 9 Al-Pat's and Fleet- Ex to Japan and a Bunch of RefTra's down in San Diego. Made me sad when the decommissioned her, I don't know why. Used to say I hated that boat but I didn't, not really. Always got us safely through the worst storms the Bering Sea could throw at us.
We cross decked from the Rush to a post FRAM Sherman after the Valdez Oil Spill. Rush was a classy, well built lady.
