The real reason today’s ladies don’t stay through thick and thin is not independence. I believe it is about understanding mental health. Our Grandmothers were put through an enormous amount of trauma. They were taught to stay even if they are getting their skull cracked. We have embraced the importance of mental health.
Great comment and it is so much the truth. Those marriages mostly were based on survival and women depending on men for their basic needs. That is not the makings of a real relationship. Of course men took advantage and there was abuse, men having whike families doen the street, and overall disrespect. Can't blame a woman for wanting to be sure she is not in a position to be abused like that.
Some of us have also embraced self-love and self-respect. When you truly love yourself and respect yourself, you won't allow a man or anyone to disrespect your life.
That is why I have left past relationships. I refuse to be mentally, emotionally, verbally or physically abused by a man or anyone else, even family members.
Just watched this episode and wanted to comment on the “independent woman”. Most women today would rather have a good man that they can feel safe with and depend on however, when we experience heartbreak, disappointment and various unpleasant situations within our relationships consistently, it makes us decide that we can do better by ourselves. No one wants to be alone but sometimes it’s easier being single. I really enjoyed this episode…
Yes, back in the day women tolerated many things because they were so financially dependent on their husbands. Also, people never mention how miserable those women were. And many independent women would love a man to take lead and be there. But why no one addresses the issue of the lack of men in the black community that have no desire to be married or committed to one woman or the men removed from the community due to prison or drugs. Leaving many women to raise children alone or to build alone. We are independent by necessity. When I look at my non black sisters very few are left without a man to protect or help them…a father, a husband or a brother. You wouldn’t believe the number of independent women who are TIRED but keep pushing because they have to.
A woman always needs to be independent. If you find a good man.. most certainly go for it! 100% but I didn’t like the fact that they talked about the men having families down the street.. and the women stayed.. is that what is wanted? Hell to the no
I get it..but I'm going to play devil's advocate just for a second. The cookie can't be enjoyed unless a woman gives it away/shares it. I think the conversation should also include men who don't want to commit because so many women are so easy, so in his mind he's thinking "why do I need a committed relationship when women are throwing it at me left and right". Then if you look further into this you get people like Future, the rapper (multiple children, different women). At some point women have to have discernment.
I agree; a part 2 is needed. The fact that they have a marriage where if they are upset with one another; they are still there for one another. Granted, because they have been married for a long time, they had to grow into this way of communication. I love it and I am here for it. It’s good to hear a males perspective on marriage and what women can do better to become available for a man and let a man know that we need them.
I loved the episode, best episode hands down!!!! He is exactly the kind of husband I hope for🙂 his spirit and character and outlook on marriage suits my preferred future. I cried uncontrollably when he mentioned when his comedy took off and in that moment he set his ego aside by not taking the self satisfying opportunity with those other women and realized that only the girl( his wife) could understand the magnitude of that moment. That was beautiful Thanks for sharing 🙏🏽
He didn't ask his wife what she brings to the table, he said he is the table 🎤drop They accept each other as their genuine self and no expectation of what the world says, and wisdom taken from his parents and grandparents.
I couldn't stop crying laughing he has to come back with his wife. Hilarious! He dropped a few gems for all of us that those who want to get married can cherish. Great job ! Laterras!!!!!
I make it a point to teach my son , chase your dreams now , live by yourself, build your credit, save your money. I don’t appreciate this man putting me and my husband of 10 years business out there, lol….swear he hit every point in my relationship….I’m sending this to every couple I know…you all stay blessed…bout to try and binge watch every episode…thanks for your podcast
Listen to me... I have watched this interview at least 7 times in the past week.... get him back on here with wifey... there is such an anointing on his testimony, the realness, transparency & authenticy of his perspective of marriage is such an inspiration. Plz get him back on here asap. 🙏❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I took a lot of notes for my Future Husband but also in-laws. That was a hidden gem when he said his mother in-law and sister in-law would call to say they were praying with no judgment or force her on him. 🙏🏾
This is my best podcast here. I have watched this episode on repeat. He is so full of wisdom and talent. Every man, woman and couple in this world should watch this.
I laughed until my stomach hurt - I smiled at his truth & love for his woman - how awesome God spoke & he didn’t hesitate to act - got this one on save - thank you for more life lessons
He got me with the fixing + cooking part! 😄😄 I'm a cooker but I rarely feel like doing it so I do a lot of fixing!! Fixing smoothies, tacos, sushi, cereal, salad, potato salad, pasta etc. It works. No skinny people in my house! 😆 😆 😆
H-I-L-A-R-I-O-U-S!!! He kept it LIT! Marriage definitely puts an anointing over your lives. Once both parties learn to appreciate the the other’s difference, the marriage “should “thrive. It may not be easy, but in the end you know that he is working all things out for your good.

This was a fantastic interview. It’s so refreshing to hear a man speak of marriage from a positive perspective. As a newly divorcee, he definitely makes me hopeful of the future.
I really enjoyed this interview! He is funny and real! People need to hear the "real' of marriage. This podcast never disappoints! Keep up the good work Laterras!
This is the thing....We have been pushed to be independent....after disappointments and going without....and trauma....we aint taking no chances....However, we will follow and be "submissive" to the right one. Independent women can find balance for the right one as well......
Wow! I am in tears from revelation, confirmation, and laughter. I just love Marcus! Houston‘s finest. This episode really spoke to me. It reminded me not to get weary while waiting. There are some good godly men out here who want to be married. And who love the covenant of marriage. I was just telling my girlfriend on last night that I am praying for a younger man, because at 53……… LORD KEEP ME!! 🤗 I love how he said that Erica knows him. That analogy was so personal for me. Last night I was at Pappadeaux’s‘s eating at the bar by myself and I remember mumbling to the Lord that I can’t wait to sit here with my husband. I can’t wait to know my husband. I just cannot explain how this episode has affected me. Thank you Marcus and Laterras!😭😭😭😭😭
I think your letter idea is so beautiful! It rejuvenated my hope that there is a sentimental, nerdy, reading and writing black man out there somewhere for me.
It’s Nov 2024, I’m just catching up on all the episodes and this one is one of my favs! Marcus is so real & raw and his love story with his wife is so beautiful and powerful! I love hearing how they were willing to look past each other’s faults with humility and pursue re-establishing their union. Their marriage sounds extremely purposeful and their need for one another is a true testament to oneness ❤️🙏🏾 God bless them and their future endeavours. I hope to see them interviewed together on an upcoming episode. Thanks LT for this podcast that continually fills my hope tank.
You knocked it out the park Sir. The fact that you can be married and STILL grow in your differences is everything. I love it! This is one of the most transparent episodes I’ve seen. ❤️❤️❤️
I had never watched this podcast until this episode. It’s so refreshing to see two amazing men share such insightful and inspirational messages for those that are single, married or even divorced. Powerful! I loved it! 👍🏽🙏🏽🔥
Had a conversation several times about how as a woman the sex drive increases as you get older. I notice that when I turned 40 them 45 and now as I’m closer to 60 it increased even more so. The hardest thing about that is when you’re single single and waiting for marriage.
@@IAmMonicaDenise I feel you on that as I know singleness is not me. God is preparing our husband for us as us for him, we must be ready when he present him.
Absolutely loved this podcast. So glad to see them hit 25 years! I’m still looking forward to that many! He is coming. “ a whisper “ I’m 55 and want to release this beast” sadly and I’m literally meaning sadly been abstinent almost 10 years. BABIIIIIIIIIIIIII, the withdrawal is a terrible thing! I thought for a while I was gonna go to prison for scrape. While praying the Lord remove that desire from me while I’m waiting it got super hard to tears many times! But God pulled me through! DEAR FUTURE LOVER MAN- take all your vitamins cause she coming for ya! Be blessed family. Love you LaTerras
Sis I understand your pain. I’ve never ask God to remove the desire but just to calm it. I’ve been abstinent 25 yrs 😡🤦🏾♀️😢. I ask to please take me off the waiting list and send my future hubby on. Yes he’s going to need vitamins for this 64 yr young Queen for real. LORD send out husbands please
@@roslyngraham5883 On one accord! I’m asking now Lord if you know I’m ready to please take me off the “waiting list” and come on with my honey boo man. Thanks sis I never asked. I just kept saying I’m waiting patiently.
Hello Kings!! WOW!! This discussion is sooo good!! My husband and I are going on year seven. We are definitely still evolving and growing together. We are not the same people we were six years ago. We are actually better despite our differences. We embrace what we do have in common and love each other no matter what. May God continue to lead and guide you Laterras! I hope that my hubby and I can go on your show and share our story in the future. We do plan to save some money to attend one of your retreats in the near future. Wonderful stories King Laterras!!🙏🏽💯🙌🏽❤️
“When you find someone that’s into you like that…” wow…to hear a man who knows his wife is into him AND appreciates and LOVES it…🙌🏾😭🙌🏾Okay, still watching…
My favorite part was when he broke. down the wedding vows. Truth received. I never thought of them along those lines. I love when my mind is challenged and makes me ponder. Good job👍🏼
First, hilarious episode😂😂😂. Second Marcus said the more independent a woman, the more harder for her to get married. This is exactly why I be calling my dad with my many requests. Trust and believe, I can do almost everything on my own. However, I’m not trying to be or appear independent. I’m not going to be faking it like I don’t require a man because I do.
I've been married 37 years. Even though there were lots of laughs and jokes, there was so much wisdom and truth. I really enjoyed this episode. My husband and I even saw him in person at our church. What a blessing. I love the part about being free and reading the Bible for oneself. Depending on what church a person attends, there can be total bondage. Thank God for the spiritual leaders who are really preaching God's word and showing compassion just like Jesus.
I'm rolling over here 🤣🤣🤣 the combination jokes and knowledge he dropped on us was inevitable. As a single woman he gave me a different perspective on a lot of things 1❤️
BY FAR, THE FUNNIEST, REALEST, MOST LIT, PHENOMENALLY AND HYSTERICALLY UNIQUE, TRANSPARENT, LIVEST, SELF CHECKING EPISODE ON THE WHOLE INNANET!!! OMG!! I laughed, I cried, I watched it again and again and again! Thank you Laterras for having Marcus on the show!! He blessed my entire soul. I don't even know what I'm gone have the choir sing at my funeral, but Baby, I done put Marcus name down to do my notices and announcements, I don't need no Eulogy after this, get your life and laugh while you doing it!!!
I love the way you laugh. I'm laughing at you laughing at him. The way you fall out laughing is so contagious. This episode was funny but so insightful.
When he explained richer or poorer maaaaan 2 marriages later I finally hear it!!!! Loved he had his grandad and dad’s teachings and they stuck in his mind.
I randomly clicked on this video, 1st time coming across this channel. I wanted to listen to something with substance as I cook dinner for my family…goodness gracious, I was crying laughing and agreeing to all the truths Marcus shared. Enjoyed this tremendously!
Laterras was dying on that chair… lol sliding off and everything. This is one of the best episodes I’ve watched… lots of gems 💎 and so great to watch… I enjoyed it! I can totally relate… being married (12 years) and now divorced (4)…
This was ABSOLUTELY HILARIOUS 😂. I started listening to at my office and I was in tears of laughter. My husband and I just finished watching together and he was GLUED to the screen. The kids ran around and we had a GREAT unexpected date night of laughter. We loved the TRUE Transparency of this episode. A LOT of things are NOT spoken of and sadly not many long-term authentic examples are seen. Thank you ❤️. We enjoyed this episode 😊
I love Laterres’s laugh, I’ve become addicted to this podcast, he makes people feel comfortable and free to laugh, cry, pray, and sing, I’ve seen it all and it’s edifying to to the soul. I thank God for leading me here 😍🥰
This is the first Podcast I’ve ever wanted to watch. There are no words that can express how rejuvenating and inspiring the content is for today’s kingdom minded singles. I will be watching from now on.
I think things have shifted also because more women know their worth. You can’t want to feel needed by one woman but then due to infidelity you are needed all down the street. So then the woman who decides to exit a relationship in which there was a breach is seen as being too independent as if she wanted that. A lot of women’s independence is due to necessity not a desire to be dismissive of men and their contribution to a relationship. Great episode.
This is by far The BEST episode!! Marcus is hilarious and very transparent about marriage. Laterras we need a part 2 with him and his wife ASAP! Great Job thanks for sharing 😍
This is my absolute favorite episode. This was the first episode I watched that actually put me on to the DFW podcast I've watched many since and recently found this one again. While there are a lot of great interviews, this one is STILL MY FAVORITE. So authentic and unfiltered. Not to mention the comedy mannnnnnnn. This episode has been included in my prayers in a major way!! Thank you, Marcus, for being so transparent and real. Thank you, Laterras, for your level of transparency and for sharing your journey with us! This is a must-see interview for many reasons(pick one 🤷🏾♀️)!!
Great information on marriage and hilarious at the same time. I also like the fact that he stated that he is the table and doesn't worry about what she's bringing.
"But since I'm here, listen to me." 🤣🤣🤣 And the way he was pronouncing coconuts. Hilarious. This podcast is amazing. Men need to shift if they want to be needed or wanted, women did for protection from controlling/abusive/lazy spouses, for choices, for an education and ultimately out of necessity. There is nothing wrong with being wanted, because need sounds exhausting to me. I do not want to marriages or dynamics in the relationships my parents, grandparents, uncles and aunts had/have. Things have shifted, and men will be hard pressed to find women that need them unless they are much young or literally off the street.
Laterras When Marcus said , YOU NEED A WIFE THAT CAN READ🤣🤣my belly was hurting from that one and then he didn’t quit 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🔥👍🏼Great show 🔥Great show 🔥👍🏼
Just when I think I done watched the best episode I come across another (even better) one. Don't matter what year it was created bcz God creates the time-line.(I know, that wasn't grammatically correct but I wrote it the way I woulda said it around Fam and Friends). I was crackin' up and gainin' knowledge at the same time! Thank you Mr. Whitfield. Keep on Doin' yo thang!
You had me in tears and I loved it all. Most importantly, I respect that you informed your wife of your dreams and gave her the OPTION to stand by you. That’s honorable. You respected her enough to do that. Oppose to feeling she was required to do so. Bravo👏🏽👏🏽
I must've watched this 7 times. This morning in traffic and on my 7 mile walk. This is quite possibly THE BEST marriage dialog I've ever heard! I forgot to play it for my husband last night.
I am CRYIIIING🤣😂🤣😂🤣 "Just Hold me....Can I be the little spoon now?" This was a FANTASTIC, realistic, and hilarious episode. It just keeps getting better and better Laterras. Great episode🙌🏾
This was enlightening & hilarious from beginning to end. I’m a first timer, I’ve never heard of this podcast but GOD allowed me to come across it on a TikTok reel on FB & I came straight to RUclips to watch. I’m a fan now!
I loved this episode!! Mr. Wiley kept it all the way real! He gave me something to think about while preparing for my Future Husband meaning when he talked about the Bible preparing you for marriage and his testimony. I took so many notes! What also rang true to me is that Mr. Wiley pressed that I have to do the work. I have watched this one three times now! STILL! I want my future husband to say that beautiful four letter word, STILL.
I LOVE how honest he was about marriage…great job! Let’s have him come back with his better half! I remember him at a comedy show at my church. He was hilarious!🔥🔥🔥
I hope Marcus is able to incorporate this material into his stand up acts, maybe he has already. I was literally in tears from laughing so hard. He was dropping so much wisdom but in such a funny way. As Laterras said, when you open your mouth to laugh the message drops in as well. I choked a few times but it was still FUNNY and TRUE!
This was genuinely a great episode. I have watched some great interviews here but this was both hilarious and I learned a lot. Thank you for this amazing podcast. Laughter is indeed the best medicine.

Exactly!!! Trust me IF THEY COULD'VE left they would've. But they needed the provisions to keep a roof.
Some of us have also embraced self-love and self-respect. When you truly love yourself and respect yourself, you won't allow a man or anyone to disrespect your life.
You’re so right!! Narcissist abuse is soooo serious!!!
That is why I have left past relationships. I refuse to be mentally, emotionally, verbally or physically abused by a man or anyone else, even family members.

🎤
Yes indeed
When he said “black love is day to day” after being married 25 years… I almost fell off this treadmill😅😂😂😂
Laterras laugh is so contagious! Every time he laugh i laugh 😂
Yes😂😂😂😂😂
Laterras should have stayed on the floor, because he was about there. I for sure would have been.
Same. I was just going to say. That's the type of man I need. One who laughs. Yes Lord
YES!! Me too. Not that type though 🤣🤣
I hope you have him and his wife on your show. This episode was so enlightening, honest, and hilarious. This episode really cheered me up.

This was the best episode ever! I laughed and gained so much. We need a part 2 with his wife. To ask her how does she deal with all of this 😂😂😂😂
Yes please to the part two!!
Agreed!!! This was great, part 2 please!!!!!!
Yes, pt 2 P L E A S E!!!🤣😂😂

In my marriage, that is so real!

Something is truly wrong with us (certain people)

Most comedians are wise. Its a true gift on how they perceive things and life.
She was being respectful not going to lunch with you anymore, it was the right thing to do… Respect for that woman ❤
Marcus Wiley had such a great example of what a strong, healthy marriage looks like. His grandparents were married over 70 years.
Beautiful, it's always the family tree. The roots is the foundation of that tree. The branches the leafs and then the fruits.

Marcus is my classmate and I know not to watch this while working!!! I have laughed and cried at the same time.. Sheesh
while Speaking Truth!!
He was hilarious
Was he always this silly? Lol
I had never watched this podcast until this episode. It’s so refreshing to see two amazing men share such insightful and inspirational messages for those that are single, married or even divorced. Powerful! I loved it!
👍🏽🙏🏽🔥
This man is too funny for his own good. I’m crying 😭😭😭
Such an authentic episode ! I laughed so hard & yet received so much wisdom
I needed to hear this at this point in my marriage! 🙏🏽 25 years 🙏🏽
Had a conversation several times about how as a woman the sex drive increases as you get older. I notice that when I turned 40 them 45 and now as I’m closer to 60 it increased even more so. The hardest thing about that is when you’re single single and waiting for marriage.
*then 45 not them 45
Straight torture
Yes, I had no idea my sex drive would get this crazy. I'm married and 45 right now, so I should expect my sex drive to increase even more. Wow! 😳
Listen! I need Jesus to cause me and my husband to meet this year! 😂
Lol
@@moniquedependable3782 we’re in agreement for our husbands amen hallelujah thank You Jesus for Your glory
Thank you Laterras for stating why women had to be independent, out of necessity. I am happy I’m able to have the balance that you mentioned.
Absolutely!!
I laugh non stop with this guy. He is a real comedian. "Just hold me, i will be the little spoon"😆😆😆😆🤣🤣🤣🤣😆🤣🤣 i watch this podcast 3 times 🇯🇲
I can't with Marcus D Wiley!!! He said "it seems like I got to let her have a boyfriend"🤣😂
“When you find someone that’s into you like that…” wow…to hear a man who knows his wife is into him AND appreciates and LOVES it…🙌🏾😭🙌🏾Okay, still watching…
I'll be the little spoon🥄🤣🤣🤣, laughter does a heart merry... every episode is a different gift and blessing 💜💜💜
My favorite part was when he broke. down the wedding vows. Truth received. I never thought of them along those lines. I love when my mind is challenged and makes me ponder. Good job👍🏼
Amazing comedian. SERIOUSLY FUNNY, EDUCATIONAL, kind MEN! His wife is Blessed.
Met Marcus at The Hope Church of Orlando when our Bishop had him there. What you see on the episode is what you get in person. Such a humble guy.
Same.
Yeah he's hilarious. I LOL at the black rhino/gas station pills 💊 ⛽ The left side of his body 🚑 🤣🤣🤣
Agreed 🙌🏾
I agree with you 💯
I was not built to be and do everything. There is no shame in me as I want and need a real man in my life! 🥰
Most couples that are married forget the vows, when things get tough in a marriage... The Truth And Nothing But The Truth 💯🎯
Wow, I loved how he explained the meaning of the vows, poor and richer, sickness and health… profound
This was the BESTTTT poscasttttt I have heard. I was rolling and it was great gems. Thank you for having him!! Blessings! 😊
What a good story teller. I could listen to him the whole day
I randomly clicked on this video, 1st time coming across this channel. I wanted to listen to something with substance as I cook dinner for my family…goodness gracious, I was crying laughing and agreeing to all the truths Marcus shared. Enjoyed this tremendously!
Same exact thing happened to me!!!
😂 “my wife went from a fixer to a cooker” 😂 I love love ❤️
Love seeing the host fall out laughing😅😂🤣🤣
THIS is the realest one on one about relationships.
I definitely want to see them talk about their marriage.
Laterras was dying on that chair… lol sliding off and everything. This is one of the best episodes I’ve watched… lots of gems 💎 and so great to watch… I enjoyed it! I can totally relate… being married (12 years) and now divorced (4)…
I had so much fun. Lol
This is a great interview
I love Laterres’s laugh, I’ve become addicted to this podcast, he makes people feel comfortable and free to laugh, cry, pray, and sing, I’ve seen it all and it’s edifying to to the soul. I thank God for leading me here 😍🥰
“I think it gets better because the people in it get better.”🙌
LOL he has me hollering soon as he walked on set😂
A natural comedian😂
This is my absolute favorite episode. This was the first episode I watched that actually put me on to the DFW podcast I've watched many since and recently found this one again. While there are a lot of great interviews, this one is STILL MY FAVORITE. So authentic and unfiltered. Not to mention the comedy mannnnnnnn. This episode has been included in my prayers in a major way!! Thank you, Marcus, for being so transparent and real. Thank you, Laterras, for your level of transparency and for sharing your journey with us! This is a must-see interview for many reasons(pick one 🤷🏾♀️)!!
I am soooo tickled by this message! Such a beautiful rendition of the safety, security, and sanctity of marriage ❤️❤️
Can we get a part 2 with Mrs. Wiley!!!?? I need more. This was yet another amazing episode! Thanks for all that you do Laterras!
Yes!
I thoroughly enjoyed this episode. Laughter is good medicine. Laterras' laugh cracks me up every time. Great work!
That was beautiful. Sometimes expectations can trick you out of the best thing that ever happened to you. Acceptance is the key, not expect.
Great information on marriage and hilarious at the same time. I also like the fact that he stated that he is the table and doesn't worry about what she's bringing.
This was SO good! I love hearing from married men in regards to marriage. This was full of laughs & SO many gems.
Not even young
Talking to that giiirl that speeeent that moooney 😂😂😂. Absolutely luv luv this conversation so real
New subscriber. I wish I found this channel sooner, but I'm happy I found it at all. It came at the right time in my life.
Loving this, the realness, the transparency and the fact that it’s you men opening up this conversation 💯😊🙏🏾✔️
