Please stop comparing relaxed hair and texlaxed or texturized hair. Moisturized and sealed is more compatible with texlaxed or texturized hair as I mentioned. I think a lot of people are discombobulated as it relates to what exactly is relaxed or texturized hair. Some of these RUclipsrs are misinforming us with a lot of information! One minute they are texlaxed and next they are relaxed! whatever to beat the algorithm I guess.....
The thing about relaxed hair is that you can't just moisturize and seal and leave your hair like that. Once you wet your hair, you must set it in a style . Be it a roller set, a braid out or a bantu knot out. You have to give your hair direction once it's wet or it will dry frizzy and feel brittle. Good video
I think it’s about what works for the individual tbh. I’ve reached waist length thanks to moisturizing and dealing with a pea sized amount either everyday or every other day. If I don’t do it, my hair will be so dry and frizzy
Hair moisturizers are ok to use on your hair, the problem is that people tend to wet down their relaxed hair with the moisturizer, the moisturizer were never meant to be used in that way. If your hair is 100% relaxed then you are only to use a pea size and only when needed. However, if your hair is more dense then you might be able to use little bit more, but never ever use it to wet down your hair. I have been using moisturizer on my hair and it is doing very well. Moisturizer are only to be used when needed. If your hair do not need it at a particular time then do not use it. Please there no need to apply it everyday. I think moisturizers are good for any hair type I just think people need to learn the correct way to use them.
Yes I agree. We cannot "wet our hair down" like i do my daughter who is natural. I make sure her hair is wet! On me I make sure it is MOIST! Not even "damp". Totally different! But M&S has totally changed my hair for the better - length, shine, thickness, shedding,
There is no one set rule to relaxed hair nor natural hair. Each individual hair is different. The key is learning what “Your” hair likes. Listening to your hair and how it responds when you try a new routine or a different hair product. Once you discover that stick to it and your hair will flourish!
True words, I actually have a feeling that she was probably wetting her hair down completely with the moisturizer or has high porosity hair coz such have a bad reaction to too much moisture
Please don't take this advice. Please keep searching. Check out hairlicious here on RUclips if your newly relaxed. This young lady has no idea what she's talking about.
My hairdresser told me to stop doing it too. She also said use a glosser. I was trying to take care of my relaxed hair like I did my natural hair. That was bad for my hair. Great information 👍🏽
This is amazing how I went through the exact same thing with the exact same confusion!! Led me into a set back of hair that was dried out just like you explained and all the shedding! Ladiesss! We neeed to use RUclipsrs as a guide only. 4 years and many set backs later, I am back to my basics! And my hair is shining again for the first time in too long! With my staple ORS conditioner and sealing every other day with a serum or petroleum jelly! Yes! Petroleum jelly!! Let’s listen to our hair I’m glad people are clocking on to this 😄😄
This is a very interesting perspective and thank you for adding to the conversation. Just goes to show the level of detail that goes into hair specific products i.e. relaxed hair needing less everyday water than natural hair. Also a great example of what works for others might not work for you.
Thanks for the video! I just relaxed my hair after about 10 years of being natural. I've been trying to relearn how to take care of my relaxed hair and started moisturizing and sealing my hair before bed...my hair feels awful. Apparently I've been using too much product. Practice makes perfect.
I agree. I never self relaxed and had my stylist, but she retired. The more I moist and seal and stretched to 20-24 weeks the drier my hair and the shedding. I had a major set back and went to a stylist who specializes in relaxers. Told me to stop moisture and sealing, use serums: olive oil, carrot, or bio silk. She cut the dead hair about 6 inches. Healthy hair at collar bone length. I am through stretching past 12 weeks. My hair was always stringy, and all I did was wear it in bun. Not every one can do all that moist and seal. I have discarded all the oils , leave ins, protein sprays, and decided rather than buy all that stuff I go to her once per month.
Girlie, you might be on to something! When I had a relaxer, I never did the traditional moisturize and seal. I would only use a hairdress- keracare or design essentials as my moisturizer once or twice a week. Sometimes I would use their oil as well just a tiny bit. My hair was never weighed down and I have fine low porosity hair. My routine was simple. Wash and deep condition with a moisturizing conditioner once a week, a protein deep condition once a month. A light weight water based leave in treatment, roller set, dry then wrap. Silk/satin scarf at night. Result was healthy colour treated hair below bra strap length. I believe if you are washing and deep conditioning weekly, then you don’t need the constant moisturizing and sealing.
Sooooooooo glad i ran across your video!!! I been literally using that same ors moisturizer going on a year now. Even tho i like it it did exactly what you said it do" swell my hair cuticle up" therefore made me hair on the ends more puffy. So it would make certain hairstyles i wanted and was doing a lil more difficult. I went out and bought a hair polisher and going use it tonight with when doing my new hairstyle for the next 2wks.❤
I fully agree with this. I'm learning about my relaxed hair after having it natural for 4 years. My hair was going well until I started moisturizing it. Moisturized it about 1 hour ago and it just feels damp and dry. EDIT: So right after watching this video I washed my hair (ran out of deep conditioner so unfortunately was unable to do that). I used IC hair serum blow dried on medium heat and flat ironed. Minimal shedding after that. Theres more i need to do health wise to curb more shedding but ... You've saved my hair BIG Thanks.
OMG!!!!! Melissa!!! I am so happy to read your comment right now. Glad I could help. Get the Crecepelo Deep conditioner I use from Amazon also. Let me know how you like it.
I wonder if this rule is really for relaxed heads who use heat. Of course if you’re flat ironing or blow drying hair straighter on wash day you wouldn’t use a water based moisturizer. But if you air dry and plan to cowash more often I feel like it might be ok
It is about finding the right moisturizer that works for you. That moisturizer breaks my hair as well and I feel it is because of the ingredients which includes petrolatum which blocks moisture and makes the hair feel brittle and dry. I was on a roller coaster trying to find moisturizers that will not break my hair and I finally stumbled upon Asiam - the liquid and the cream, and they have been amazing (for my hair). Moisture, strength and health. I use hair polisher as well but to use everyday without moisturizing results in dry hair for me. What I have come to learn is that our hair is different and will respond differently to different products and treatments. I have very fine hair, but strange enough texlaxing or underprocessing breaks my hair like crazy. I have to use Super strength box relaxers to adequately straighten my hair for it to thrive. I however compensate by relaxing every four to six months so it doesnt look lifeless. But.. the asiam moisturizers (the asiam so much moisture and the double butter cream) have been game changers for my hair. I no longer have to be a product junkie; I finally found what works. I dont use the liquid everyday, only as needed but it works perfectly during my stretches. The liquid is not like water, it has a somewhat thicker consistency; the same moisturizer hairlicious uses. The cream I use every other day especially after relaxers. I think ingredients play a significant role in the way some products work. Mineral oil and petrolatum based leave in moisturizers break my hair so I avoid them altogether. These ingredients tend to prevent the hair from absorbing adequate moisture and results in product buildup and dryness. We just have to find what works for us on our hair care journey and stick with it.
Omw you're very right. Most moisturizers have damaging hair ingredients hence the dryness and breakage. It's not that you're moisturizing. The ORS products have damaging hair ingredients - petroleum, mineral oils etc. I noticed their caster oil was making my hair very dry and one day I looked at the ingredients and it was drying ingredients - mineral oils. I threw out all of the ORS products. And starred using the African pride creme for moisture and my hair loves it.
That moisturizer is actually my holy grail lol it’s so crazy how everyone’s hair experience is so unique but I also don’t use enough to wet it I use a small amount
You might have a point. My sister don't moisturize and seal her hair and she hardly has hair breakage. And I have all the fancy hair treatment and have breakage. I will give it a try. My only concern is that is recently put highlights on my hair, does that apply to relax hair with highlights.
I used to moisturize and seal my hair every day (with something else, not that ors stuff, I don't like the scent), then I started doing it every other and now I pretty much don't do it and I think my hair is healthier. I completely agree with you, I think youtubers have a good idea by telling others to moisturize and seal but I think its too much for relaxed hair
I think its about knowing what your works for your hair. I moisturise and seal my hair using a leave in cream conditioner and seal with hair grease. I have returned alot of length.
@@samminu I was going through your video again and eventhough the "moisturizing and sealing" has worked for my hair ,I understand what you are talking about.
This advice applies to my natural hair. I have finally realised it does not like water inbetween washes. If i do moisturise i use very little. I also went back to grease and serums - no more breakage!
Im going to try this method and see how my hair reacts. Thankyoh for sharing i appreciate different tips and perspectives to give us ideas on things to try and see what our hair agrees with
Hmm... I honestly feel you are correct based on my experience. I've noticed when using CHI serum only that I have no breakage, but when using a liquid moisturiser, then seal that i see some breakage/hair in the sink. Also, i saw another video that stated to only use the CHI serum🤷♀️... So, you onto something here... I believe leave-ins, moisturisers and such are to be used probably after washing and conditioning the hair, but before you allow your hair to dry... From then on you only need a serum...
Absolutely Louelle. You got it! You can use your leave in, moisturizers and hint of argon oil of morroco when wet for blow drying. Then only use your serums.
Omg the same thing has been happening to me. What I started doing is using my mielle leave in conditioner and a serum/polish and my hair has been doing so much better. Everything you said is spot on. I only use that moisturizer as a “gel” to give my hair hold otherwise no.
I got tired of my hair being weighed down so I stopped years ago. If my hair needs to be moisturized I'll use lightweight products like CHI total protect and Paul Mitchell skinny serum but it's not a routine. Great video!!
Thanks for sharing - I've never heard this before but it makes sense to me...I've literally washed my hair yesterday so will practice the use of a polish/serum when needed instead 😃 How about using moisturiser on your new growth only and sealing with an oil? New growth will need love too no?
@@samminu hummm if you call 10 - 12 weeks stretching then yes! 🤣 I've tried 16 weeks and that's not for me. I end up losing more hair. But at 8 weeks I feel my new growth needs some moisture but then again in wash days I'll add as much moisture and oil to that area as necessary then just continue with oil in the new growth of required and see how that goes. Even good old hair grease on the new growth for pony tails should be ok. We shall see!
Hmm I thought I was the only one.... I don't like the heaviness of moisturizing and sealing either. I use a Rusk serum and it give moisture and shine minus the heaviness. When I cannot get Rusk I use Paul Mitchell. Great video!
Everything in excess is bad, at the beggining of my hair journey my hair was very thirsty and damaged, needed to moisturize every other day, never had issues, but presently it is healthy so I only need it middle of the wash cycle...
I followed your advice and got the polisher and noticed a different. I will definitely keep using it from now on (why didn't l use it before 🙄) l will use hair lotions and creams when l protective style but that's it. Thanks for sharing what you learned it has definitely helped me A LOT!!
I think this is great information! Your hair is SUPER SLEEK ❤❤! M&S does work great for me but I never "wet" my hair! Just a few drops on relaxed hair. On my daughter who is natural, I'll wet her hair down! But I don't wear my hair as sleek as yours! But I still found this video valuable because I think I will do this on the days i don't M&S!
Thank you Riana. I am happy that M&S works for you. I really love that you are willing to give the glossing polisher a try on the days you don't do M&S. Let me know how you like it. ❤️
I actually don't moisturize and seal. If I do anything I'll add a little oil to my ends. Moisturizing products always felt like I was wetting my hair. So I agree with this post! :-) M&S is not for everyone.
Hey love, I use curls blueberry & mint tea scalp treatment, crecepelo scalp treatment also carrot oil. I interchange between each products depending on my mood, but I use them everyday starting at the third day after my wash day routine. I love to let me scalp breath for two days before applying anything. Sorry for the late respond, I hope this helps. ❤️❤️❤️

Hey love, sorry you are experiencing this. I know the feeling, give your hair a well deserved trim. Then do a deep conditioning and protein treatment. Maintain your hair throughout the week with a serum, try IC fantasia. Make sure to wash and deep condition your hair every week. Finally be gently when you are detangling, and make sure to wrapp your hair at night. Watch my night time hair routine video I recently posted.
Heeeyyyyy Chick.....thank you , noted with thanks. I am off tomorrow, so it's me and this crazy hair of mines. Girl with a husband and 2 kids plus a fulltime job sometimes it's almost impossible to get 5 minutes me time. Will do , thanks , have a good one sweetie and I,m looking forward for your next video. Can you do one on your facial skin care routine cause you have gorgeous skin as well . I know you search for the best that works through trial and error you get it right . I gave away alot of quack products myself .Your make up is light and perfect never over done. Stay well. 😊😊😊.
@@seanagill4775 You are too kind Love 😍😍😍. I definitely feel you on finding the time to do thing with a full time job and your family. I don't have kids yet so I can only imagine how ethic it is. Do want you can. I am working on my skin right now, i suffer from really bad hyperpigmentation. I have wasted some much money on skincare. I went to a dermatologist and it made it worse.😭😭😭. Horrible story, so now I am using Curology and others products. I am seeing major results. I will definitely do one as soon as am 100% at my goal. ❤❤❤❤
Thanks for this insightful video. I'm glad I already had a glosser oil in the back of my cupboard somewhere. Otherwise I'd be off to the shops tomorrow!😂 Also thanks for reminding us to do a treatment on our hair right after we wash out the relaxer. Don't go directly to the neutralizing shampoo guys! Do the treatment 1st (I use the Affirm 5-in-1 Reconstructor).
If you are gonna use the affirm 5-in-one reconstructer it would be best to use the affirm relaxer. FYI : For those who are thinking of using the reconstructer...try to use the same brand of products....it is just like using a shampoo, use the same brand conditioner as shampoo.
I use a liquid leave in spray instead of cream based moisturizers cos I have control on the amount of products I use . Then I seal it with serum. If I have too much new growth , I use leave in spray plus lighter leave in cream and top it up with castor oil on my new growth and serum on my relaxed hair . Hope this helps someone ❤️
@@samminu Thank you for your reply. I notice that I have a lot of shedding as soon as I apply oil on my scalp (avocado oil, olive oil, pro growth oil - with castor oil, etc.)
Love your videos. At present, I use the creme of nature argon oil treatment as my daily moisturizer. Do you think I should replace it with a glossing polish?
@@natasha.77 Got it! This is perfect when your hair is wet and you are about to blow dry. I love to use to use a polisher to maintain my hair. If it is not heavy you can use it daily. But I do prefer a polisher to use daily.
Interesting!! Because different things work differently for each person... my hair is relaxed as well as fine strands, and always felt like many items are too heavy for my hair, especially this particular step! It's really a lot of trial and error.
Really appreciate the tip on doing protein treatment right after relaxing. Pls clarify if the protein conditioner should be added before using the neutralizing shampoo or after ??? Thx allot
Glad I can help love. I don't use a protein conditioner after my neutralizing shampoo. So after I rinse out my relaxer, I apply a protein treatment, then my deep conditioner. After I go in twice with the neutralizing shampoo, once with a moisturizing shampoo and finally a moisturizing conditioner.
Texturized hair can get away with moisturizers, just don't over do it, to prevent your hair from looking wet and weigh down. But if you stick with deep conditioning your hair every week and use a serum, you should be fine.
I think a lot depends on your hair porosity. I’ve noticed that most of the relaxed RUclipsrs who promote M&S have high porosity hair (so they need more moisture) and they primarily wear low manipulation hairstyles instead of straight hair. Therefore they don’t mind if their hair is weighed down a bit.
Relaxed hair does not have any porosity because it is chemically processed/change. I think that there is a confusion between taxlaxed and relaxed hair. That's the dilemma! You can't say you are relaxed, yet you have a lot of texture in your hair. Texlaxed or texturized hair can use the moisturized and sealed method.
@@LexxieDivine Texlaxed is when you have texture or kinkiness to your hair. You can see it better when your hair is wet. A lot of times when relaxed your hair with an applicator bush at the first stage of a relaxer, many fail to go it after with a fine teeth comb before rinsing it out. Just using the brush doesn't help to fully relaxed your hair. Some people also, rush the relaxer step by rinsing it out too quick, I know they are trying to go by the directed time on the package, but you have to watch the hair to make sure it is fully relaxed. One day I am going to make a video on how I relaxed my hair.
@@samminu Porosity has nothing to do with texture. It's the hair's ability to absorb moisture/product based on the nature of your cuticles. Relaxed hair also has porosity/is permeable. Relaxers, dyes and chemicals actually make the hair shaft more porous because the protective cuticle is a little damaged/compromised. Just wanted to clarify that bit.
Your'e are so welcome! I did a video showcasing what I use on my scalp and how I wrap my hair on my channel. It's called my relaxed hair nighttime routine. Check it out and let me know what you think. ❤️
I think you’re on to something, sometimes I don’t like using cream moisturizers on my hair when it’s dry because it’s makes my hair wet and I just don’t like the feel of it. I’m trying to see if I can find like moisturizing serums or like a hair butter like mango butter. I’ll probably use the moisturizers that I have now as a leave in on wet hair.
This is something to try. I didn’t care for the moisturizing and sealing, but thought it was necessary for my hair to thrive. I’ve been experiencing some shedding (more than Norma I’m I think). I’ll see. Thanks for the video.
Yes try it out Sakeenia and let me know what you think. So sorry about the breakage you are facing right now. I have a video about "the reason your relaxed hair is shedding and breaking" on my channel also. I hope that video can give you some insights as well. All the best. ❤️
I do M&S at times, but I mostly use serum. I thought it was just me that heard my hair snapping when I moisturised and sealed. I guess I was using too much.
I have to agree with you because I also noticed that after moisturizing and sealing my hair, overtime it has become dry and brittle so I will definitely be using glossing polish to see if I have better results. Great vid!
I just realized this like 2 weeks ago. I got so sick of damp, tangled, dry hair. I will buy popular moisturizers and moisturize and seal religiously, but my hair was still dry and breaking. Now, I just apply baby oil every other day and my hair feels great for the first time since I first went relaxed.
@@mialong2363 I know it sounds weird, but it works for me. After washing and conditioning, I apply a leave-in conditioner and Johnson & Johnson baby oil to my damp hair. In fact, throughout the week, I only apply a small amount of leave-in and baby oil to my ends.
@@Queen_Neo My hair is doing fine: I went from shoulder length to APL since I wrote my comment. I mostly use baby oil on the day after wash days after my hair has gotten a chance to air dry. First, I divide my hair into four sections, then I massage my leave-in into each section, and then I follow up with a few drops of baby oil in each section. Finally, I braid my hair into four jumbo cornrows as an easy low-manipulation hairstyle..
Just came across your page and the title caught my attn. I'm glad I watched this because I thought I was tripping how my hair would snap when moisturizing and sealing but if I just used a leave in conditioning spray on wash day and use my oil and serums my hair had less breakage and was soft and shiny. This all makes so much sense thanks new subbie!!!
Wow! Thank you so much! My hair was growing and flourishing it was off my shoulders but I have been following RUclips videos about moisturizing and sealing and my ends keep breaking and my hair was shedding soooooo bad . Everytime my hair grows I have to trim because it was just too much on my hair and I didn’t understand what I was doing wrong. My mom told me today I can not do that with relaxed hair and fine relaxed hair at that. just wash every week and deep condition. I have a serum here at home that I only used on my wet and wavy wig. I will start to moisturize with that and make sure I am washing every week as well as protein treatments once a month. Thanks for the tips , can’t wait to maintain the hair growth now.❤️❤️❤️❤️
How has that been going for you ? Cause I’m currently having a lot of shedding cause my hair is over moisturized .. & do you really have to do it every week cause I was told dirty hair grows ?
@@Cammiereignn_ I did a big chop and I went natural. Natural is going so much better for me my hair just breaks with relaxer but everyone is different me on the other hand my hair just prefers it’s natural state
Now you've got me questioning. I've bought the Creme of Nature oil moisturiser and it is so very thick, I'm not a fan. I tried to use the tiniest of amounts. I do have an issue with dryness in the middle of my head so I've been trying to figure out what to do.
I am so glad my friend thought me this about moisturizers.Try any glossing polish you can find twice a day. Just make sure to wash your hair every week with a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. Use a deep conditioner and use your favorite hydrating leave in conditioning. Oh and don't forget your monthly protein treatment.
@@samminu Thank you for this as I am trying to build up a proper regimen. For 4 weeks after my relaxer, I use Design Essentials honey creme sulfate free plus the Almond butter conditioner mixed with Creme of Nature intensive conditioning treatment. At week 5 onwards to week 11, I use Design Essentials honey creme sulfate free shampoo, Aunt Jackie's in control conditioner & Creme of Nature intensive conditioning treatment mixed with coconut oil and olive oil. Week 12 is relaxer. I mainly deep condition after shampooing. I'm trying to incorporate the monthly protein treatment as that will be quite new to me and try out a new leave in conditioner. Hey love, it does not have to be. I have IC Fantasia Serum that doesn't have silicone and is one of my faves . Also my Proclaim has silicone and is a fave for me too. finds what you like and stick to it.
I do use these ORS hair lotion and jojoba oil to moisturize and seal (I’m relaxed) but I use a very very very small amount per four sections of hair and one drop of the oil on each of the four sections and my hair seems fine so far. 🤷🏽♀️ I have coarse, thick hair.
She is right I use moisturizer on my daughter's hair they are natural it works for them, I stop using moisturizer on my relax hair I use the old school hair grease and pink moisturizer.
I have my fair share of bad experiences with moisturizers..i just could not find any that worked for me. And i found that too with using a serum on the hair and not an oil. I need a find a better serum though. The one i am using, the effects dont seem to last all day
I have to keep getting perms because I don't want to go back to natural again. But I want my hair braided so that it can grow because I suck at wrapping my hair and don't really like it down
I understand. I miss braids. I have a video on my channel that I show you how you can wrap you hair easy. I think it’s called “what you should do to your relaxed hair before bed” ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
People are using the wrong products to moisturize and seal.Oils do not moisturize, they coat the hair. The moisturizer is only good for roller sets that you sit under the blow dryer with. Glosser polish is great for wrapping, and heat protection. The best moisturizer is water and hair grease seals it in. Only a dab for each section.
when I first watched your video I stop moisturizing and Sealing then I started to moisturize and seal again and now my hair is breaking. My hair looks awful it doesn't have that silky bouncy look like it used to it looks damaged. It's like moisturizing and sealing is embedded in me. And maybe that's why I was having terrible setback way back when moisturizing and sealing came about. If anyone had told me moisturizing and sealing cause this I would not believe
Right. We had to learn the hard way too. 💔💔💔💔. I had no idea because everyone is doing it, I thought is was ideal. Never too late to start over. You got this!!❤️❤️💕💕💕💕
At first I thought this title sounded crazy and just had to watch, but this is an interesting perspective. I have thicker relaxed hair and often m&s, do my protein treatments, etc...but still notice shedding when I comb and also AS I'm m&sing!!! So you may be on to something🤔. I guess it's just whatever works for your hair at the end of the day 🤷🏾♀.
I have to agree that it depends on what products a person is using. I am currently natural and I both had super long hair with my relaxed hair. Now I’m natural for 5 years I still have super long hair. I really believe it depends on the products. Yes I did moisturizer my hair when I had a relaxer, but it moisturizer it once a week. So perhaps people need to understand what really works for their hair..
Good video
Thank you Pat!
Great Feedback.
big facts
Girl, that's the same with natural hair too.
Its sooo true, def have to have a plan.
I think it’s about what works for the individual tbh. I’ve reached waist length thanks to moisturizing and dealing with a pea sized amount either everyday or every other day. If I don’t do it, my hair will be so dry and frizzy
Glad you found what works best for your hair. ❤️
👍🏾👍🏾
can you tell us more about your routine?
It’s the same with me. My hair never grew past shoulder length until I started moisturizing. Now it’s mid back
Hair moisturizers are ok to use on your hair, the problem is that people tend to wet down their relaxed hair with the moisturizer, the moisturizer were never meant to be used in that way.
Thank you for your feedback. I guess we have to learn to use things in moderation.

This is so helpful! So happy I found this. Newly relaxed and was wondering what was wrong with my hair after I moisturized it with oils and cream.
Thank you so much!! You have a fantastic hairdresser.
Let’s listen to our hair I’m glad people are clocking on to this 😄😄
Thank you for you feedback love. ❤️ 💕 💗 💖 🧡 . I am so happy to hear your hair is doing amazing!!!
This is a very interesting perspective and thank you for adding to the conversation. Just goes to show the level of detail that goes into hair specific products i.e. relaxed hair needing less everyday water than natural hair. Also a great example of what works for others might not work for you.
Thank you love. Glad I could share.
Thanks for the video! I just relaxed my hair after about 10 years of being natural. I've been trying to relearn how to take care of my relaxed hair and started moisturizing and sealing my hair before bed...my hair feels awful. Apparently I've been using too much product. Practice makes perfect.
You got this Erin! Practice does make perfect. I hope my content will help you on your journey. ❤️🙌🏾
This explains what I'm going through. I'm getting a serum immediately
I'm so glad I can help! Let me know everything goes.
I am so happy you found an expert that gave you the best advice and is also taking care of your hair. ❤❤😍😍
Absolutely!!! Kar you are on point girl!! You know the deal. ❤❤🔥🔥🙌🏾
You really don't even need the deep conditioning unless your hair is damaged. I love this new simple hair routine I'm doing 😊
What protein treatment and water based leave in do you use?
@@samminu I'll order it but it might take some time since I am not in the US.
@@Mizzm3l OOOOh Yeah. It will.
I am super happy you found what works the best for your hair! ❤️🙌🏾
Haha. Different results I guess. ❤️
Same here and I looooove it!
Thank you for this information!
You are so welcome ♥♥♥
Using hair serum was a big game-changer for me. Thanks for the tips!
YAY. I am so happy right now!!! Whoop whoop
You might have a point. My sister don't moisturize and seal her hair and she hardly has hair breakage. And I have all the fancy hair treatment and have breakage. I will give it a try. My only concern is that is recently put highlights on my hair, does that apply to relax hair with highlights.
Absolutely love, give it a try and let me know. ❤️❤️❤️❤️💕💕💕
So true Alexandra! Moisturize and seal is a fantastic idea, just not for our relaxed hair. If I was natural I would do it.
ORS moisturizing lotion STINKS!!
Omg, it works on my hair, u have saved my hair, i am sooo happy 👍😊
YAY!!!!! I am so happy to hear that!!
I think its about knowing what your works for your hair. I moisturise and seal my hair using a leave in cream conditioner and seal with hair grease. I have returned alot of length.

This advice applies to my natural hair. I have finally realised it does not like water inbetween washes. If i do moisturise i use very little.
I also went back to grease and serums - no more breakage!
You are right it for natural or texturized hair, not relaxed.
Im going to try this method and see how my hair reacts. Thankyoh for sharing i appreciate different tips and perspectives to give us ideas on things to try and see what our hair agrees with
You are so welcome gorgeous. ❤❤💕💕💕
Update please, I would love to hear the progress or regress.
This sounds like something to consider after my relaxer this week. Embarking on a new journey 🙃

Thank you so much Kalisha! I need to check out those products you mentioned.
Thanks for sharing - I've never heard this before but it makes sense to me...I've literally washed my hair yesterday so will practice the use of a polish/serum when needed instead 😃 How about using moisturiser on your new growth only and sealing with an oil? New growth will need love too no?
You are so welcome. For your new growth, do you stretch your relaxer? I feel like the moisturizer can make its way down the relaxer areas.
@@Zedmelia I only go 8 weeks, my friend recommend no more than that. But I would use just the oils on the new growth.

Omg, i had the same experience with moisturizing and sealing. Thanks for the helpful info.

Hmm I thought I was the only one.... I don't like the heaviness of moisturizing and sealing either. I use a Rusk serum and it give moisture and shine minus the heaviness. When I cannot get Rusk I use Paul Mitchell. Great video!
Thank you! Yes too heavy.
Everything in excess is bad, at the beggining of my hair journey my hair was very thirsty and damaged, needed to moisturize every other day, never had issues, but presently it is healthy so I only need it middle of the wash cycle...
That so true Maria moderation is everything. However since I have eliminated those moisturizer from my routine, my hair is thriving.
I followed your advice and got the polisher and noticed a different. I will definitely keep using it from now on (why didn't l use it before 🙄) l will use hair lotions and creams when l protective style but that's it. Thanks for sharing what you learned it has definitely helped me A LOT!!

Good info. Moisture should come from the shampoo and deep condition process. Coconut oil prepoo will help with hygral fatigue.

What serum?
I think this is great information! Your hair is SUPER SLEEK ❤❤! M&S does work great for me but I never "wet" my hair! Just a few drops on relaxed hair. On my daughter who is natural, I'll wet her hair down!
But I don't wear my hair as sleek as yours!
But I still found this video valuable because I think I will do this on the days i don't M&S!

I actually don't moisturize and seal. If I do anything I'll add a little oil to my ends. Moisturizing products always felt like I was wetting my hair. So I agree with this post! :-) M&S is not for everyone.

What should I use to moisturise my dry ends texturised hair
Texturized hair can get away with moisturizers, just don't over do it, to prevent your hair from looking wet and weigh down. But if you stick with deep conditioning your hair every week and use a serum, you should be fine.
Do you wet your hair before using the serum and polish?
Or do you just apply it on a dry scalp?
No I don't wet my hair, I apply it to my dry hair. I don't apply it to my scalp, just my hair. I hope this helps.

@@KaydeeErryern Great!! 🙌🏾
Hi, how do you tell the difference between texlaxed and relaxed hair?
This is what I was thinking too. That's why most ladies on here tell you to do what's best for your hair.
Thank you for your info..Can I ask what did you use for your scalp?
Your'e are so welcome! I did a video showcasing what I use on my scalp and how I wrap my hair on my channel. It's called my relaxed hair nighttime routine. Check it out and let me know what you think. ❤️
I think you’re on to something, sometimes I don’t like using cream moisturizers on my hair when it’s dry because it’s makes my hair wet and I just don’t like the feel of it. I’m trying to see if I can find like moisturizing serums or like a hair butter like mango butter.
I’ll probably use the moisturizers that I have now as a leave in on wet hair.
Weights it down and makes it wet as hell, and have a weird texture. I just prefer a good leave in and maintain with a serum and I am good. ❤️❤️💕💕💕

Thank you for watching love ❤️ 💕 💗 💖
Pink oil moisturizer is the absolute best its the only thing that actually work's for me along with afrosheen
I'm happy to hear it works for you. Pink lotion is a staple in some people's routine.
When I was relaxed, I remember my hair loved Pink Oil too! Especially, living in a dry climate (Arizona). You really need to do what’s best for your hair. Not everyone has the same type of hair, live in the same climate nor will share the same results. So, it is nice to have a different experience in case you need to change your regimen.
@@jennifermccurdy5060 Absolutely. People should always do what they think is best for them.
Thank you, I will definitely be giving this a try. :)
YAY. 😍😍
Is shea butter good for relaxed hair?
I prefer it on natural hair. Too heavy.
@@samminu hi dear tanx so much for responding, if i may ask do you think its better to put oil on because i am not sure what to use and scared it broke. I was natural but its to much time, money and energy😩
@@charleneoliphant6326 It's super expensive to be natural, I agree!. I love glossing polishers. You can check Amazons, they are not heavy and won't weight your hair down. I hope this help gorgeous.
Thank you so much!!! I’ve always had my doubts about moisturizer on my relaxed hair…👠👠👠
❤❤. Definitely trust your judgement, you were on it.
I've just started my relaxed hair journey and happy to learn great tips.
Definitely trying this, I'm a minimalist so if I can do more for my hair with less, sign me up! 😊.
PS - Just found your channel (RUclips recommended it) and I love it! 🖤
I have a glosser that is silicone free. Does the glosse4 need to have silicone?
Hey love, it does not have to be. I have IC Fantasia Serum that doesn't have silicone and is one of my faves . Also my Proclaim has silicone and is a fave for me too. finds what you like and stick to it.
Hi Sammi,
Can you clarify something. If you are relaxed that means high/low porosity no longer applys?
Yes it does not, because you chemically changed your hair. ❤️
I think I understand now....thank you ♥
@@ms.nikollbenford9231 Glad I can help 🙌🏾
I do use these ORS hair lotion and jojoba oil to moisturize and seal (I’m relaxed) but I use a very very very small amount per four sections of hair and one drop of the oil on each of the four sections and my hair seems fine so far. 🤷🏽♀️ I have coarse, thick hair.
Oh my this makes so much sense because i was so confuse as to why my hair is breaking
Glad I can help love. It took me forever to realize what is happening. I wish you all the best on your relaxed hair journey. ❤❤❤❤💕💕
She is right I use moisturizer on my daughter's hair they are natural it works for them, I stop using moisturizer on my relax hair I use the old school hair grease and pink moisturizer.
Doesnt pink moisturizer still have the same effect as moisturizer? Just curious
Thanks for sharing, great video.
You are so welcome Mayra. Thanks for watching! ❤️🙌🏾
Good stuff! I don't believe moisturizing & sealing is necessary for relaxed hair. I use light oils or a serum.
Thank you. I wish I knew earlier!! I had no clue. what serums you love using?
Design essentials botanical oils & Paul Mitchell skinny serum
@@ms.nikollbenford9231 Thank you, i am going to research those.
I have my fair share of bad experiences with moisturizers..i just could not find any that worked for me. And i found that too with using a serum on the hair and not an oil. I need a find a better serum though. The one i am using, the effects dont seem to last all day
Moisturizers are so horrible for our hair, the Proclaim one is great, also Fantasia IC olive oil glossing polisher is great.
@@samminu i am using the fantasia but it not does not keep my hair sleek especially if i should wear it down..by the end of the day its frizzes up
@@domingo8882 Try the Keracare Silken Seal Serum and tell me what you think about it.
The Keracare Silken Seal Liquid Sheen*
@@samminu i have the silk n seal blow out spray. Never had any luck with that either
Very Good with Hair polishers with my hair.....feels very silky and frizz free
That's so awesome love.
Great video 😍😍
Thank you beautiful!
New subscriber. I have relax hair. What do you recommend to put on n your hair nightly example: grease. Just getting some information. Thanks.
I use Proclaim Glossing Polisher and wrap my hair.
Thanks for subbing! ❤️
@@samminu I realize that my relaxed hair loves silicones. I had the same experience with breakage, using moisturizers.
@@marierey1196 Sorry you had to go through that.
Hmm, what if I used Shea Butter hair spray as a moisturizer? I hope it’s okay! 😊
Never heard of that product, I may have to research that.
Is your hair fine? My hair is..and my hair goes through the same thing yours is..feeling weighed down!
Yeah my hair is, use the glossing polisher I mentioned.
@@samminu Wow thank you for answering my question and for the advice! 😀🙌🏾
@@traceylennon1204You are so welcome. Anytime.
I moisterized and used oil and my hair is growing none stop.
I will try I have the same problem
Yes try it out ❤❤
when I first watched your video I stop moisturizing and Sealing then I started to moisturize and seal again and now my hair is breaking.
Absolutely! It's probably time to try something new and see what works.
