Very interesting video, thanks Luthais and DiamonDagger. I think I heard that suppressed M82 from 350m and I definitely heard the difference between Kar98 and M82 from 350m, the Kar has more and longer echo.
12:26 theres top notch knowledge, i would have never recon that sound unless they were shooting AT me 🤣 ocasionally landing a hit, like hey! tf is with those hornets?! man theyr biiiig
You should have tested svd with factory suppressor because that's what most players would use to camp airdrops but from the knowledge that I got from this video they probably can't hear you past 250m with silenced svd
Very much needed video, however, "your hearing" is with which level of awareness skill? And does awareness effect your ability to hear further out (in/out of focus), could you make a detail video explaining how it supposed to work or direct me where I can find the answer. Thank You.
Awareness only blocks out all the ambient sound so you can just hear the sounds you want to hear like footsteps or gunshots but it doesn't really make them louder. Just makes it very easy to hear what you want to hear.
@@Luthais have you tested awareness affecting the distance by which you can hear a gun shot? That would be cool if better awareness allowed a distant shot to be heard, that would otherwise not be.
I was watching this on a smart phone so I couldn’t tell from the video if there was any muzzle flash at 100m without the suppressor. The reason I mention this is you said in the video that there’s no advantage to using a suppressor under 100m which for sound certainly seems accurate. If the suppressor removes or reduces the muzzle flash that would be an advantage in cover. In real life that is one of the major advantages of a suppressor even more so than the reduction in sound volume. But again I watched this on a smart phone I couldn’t see that much detail. Also I haven’t played the game enough to know the answer either.
M82 without suppressor has a deeper softer sound than the sharp crack of the Kar98 - can hear that clearly on the video, even though Luthias says he can't hear a difference at 25:30
I was doing some testing before, and the AS Val, which is meant to be subsonic, is louder than most of the 5.56 rifles. I'd be interested in you making a video about the "suppressed" rifles!
Very useful info here. To help us utilize it to its fullest would you please do a video on which original suppressor goes on what gun in game. Mater of fact a video on each gun and all of its attachments would be welcome. Maybe break it down by weapon type or caliber. I find trying to figure out which scope/rail/etc goes on which gun to be a pain to research. Seems to be no up to date info available.
The devs are simplifying that, the suppressors are either named after the gun, in the case of AWP, AWM and M82 or, the direction they are taking the other suppressors, they are caliber based, the only exception at the moment are the pistols. And the SCUM wiki has 95% up to date info.
I you right click the silencer or you hover your mouse over it then an info tab opens up telling you what gun its for. But I will make it clear in future videos.
Apparently they worked on the car engines sounds distance in the the latest patch. -"Fixed the audio issue where vehicle noises would not adjust volume based on the distance of the vehicle." May be we don't ear car engine starters from 1 km away anymore?
@Split Dimension That's odd. I just checked again and its clear but on a faint side. One would realy have to pay attention to the sounds to pick it up.
Maybe it was my phone or headphones but I could hear the suppressed shots better. It could be I just hear that frequency better because of accumulated hearing damage over years
Whoof whoof is dangerous, check. I never trust pistol silencers. Sometimes i think whatever... They wear off fast and everything hears them anyways🫣 Thanks✌️✌️
Bedankt
Plesier
Great video!! Helped me realise my sound settings have been way off. Managed to sort em now. Cheers guys!!
My pleasure bud.

Yes. 300m and more you wont hear a thing.
Always fun doing science with you :)
It is to me too ;]
People outside should not hear shots from a bunker. Closed steel gates, concrete walls + furniture kill sound.
Agreed or should be very muffled.

Hear my hearing isnt the best

There work the same. Cant hear them 300 m away and further.
Very informative and i love your sound effects 😆
Lol. Thanks bud

@@Luthais I see. I am fairly new to the game and forgot about the info tabs.
some very good info for sure
Thanks man. Glad you enjoyed it
this was quite informative , thank you
My pleasure.
Thank you for this video!

No you dont but I think within 600m you will
Luthais - "You dont fight people at 500m". 🤣.....well buddy...that's my ideal distance
Lol. Yea I was talking about the majority lol
I couldn't hear any of the shots without the suppressor
Try wearing headphones, they are very faint and with ambient sounds lilke birds and if you have voice chat on I can imagine super easy to miss.
Headphones are very important but if you feel your sound is too soft overall. Activate Loudness Equalization in the windows sound options.
@Split Dimension That's odd. I just checked again and its clear but on a faint side. One would realy have to pay attention to the sounds to pick it up.
They should just change the gun sounds to your mouth sounds 😂 love it
Lol
Instead of the ones they have when using mushrooms lol
Maybe it was my phone or headphones but I could hear the suppressed shots better. It could be I just hear that frequency better because of accumulated hearing damage over years
Could be and if you activated Loudness Equalization in windows the softer sounds will be much louder.
The Dev dont even care about fix the noise from kill box,if a player are outside the bunker hi can heard other players are in the kill box
A suppressor always helps with keeping your ears from ringing as well :)
Very true!
the earplugs, ear protectors and combat helmet do that as well, but obviously don't help with concealing your position:)
I also shoot shotgun at b0 bunker and motex heard me all the way from the junkyard and he came and killed me at that bunker
Ouch.
Dude I use a suppresser on everything , even my bow
I appreciate that.
Nice
I could see that coming a mile away lol
i didn't here jack nothing is that how soft a gun sound at a 1000m
Yes but people with expensive headsets or sound equalization will hear it very clear
@@Luthais probably I wasn't using my headset was on speaker
I heard them in my headset without audio tuning. However, I would say that a single shot in game would go unnoticed behind ambient noises.
I just wanna know how far I need to be to not be heard.
It depends on what you use.
Well good that i dont play MP, i havent heard anything at 1km xD
Is jy Afrikaans?
Ja
are you guys just... PVP?
No im more PVE but PVP is a big part of the game and knowledge is power
@@Luthais thanks for the reply... is your server pve/pvp with zones?? almost like Feudal server or are yours different???
first to comment
Yes you are ;]
