Present continuous has more than one use. Generally, it's for activities at the momento of speaking. But also around the present time (i.e.; I'm reading a book) It means you're reading a book and haven't finished yet, even if you're not reading it right now. And the other use is for plans or activities in the near future (i.e.: I'm having a party this weekend)
