After doing some research I found out that some older dolls can have a chemical reaction and release potentially harmful gases. They can also become brittle and crack, much like the doll in this video. 😮✨
I have a few creepy dolls that I’ve been meaning to restore…one day!😅 I’m not sure if this happened to your last doll, but it might be the case. In the late 50s/60s they were trying out new plastics often combining different plastics on one doll. They didn’t realise that certain plastics combinations could start to breakdown each other down or melt together! 😬
If you need to mend parts of a porcelain doll, I would recommend using milliput which is a two part epoxy clay that hardens over a few hours. They do a white version which you could colour with a pigment and when its hard, you can sand it. The pedigree doll, I would probably keep outside in a cabinet with a sign, 'positively do not open.' Joking aside, maybe she needs to be in an airy room.
@@estherhayes790 Thank you for your comment! 😁 That could be the case with mine, it’s a shame but maybe I’ll have to try find her a new body. Thanks for the advice, I appreciate it. 😊✨
@@slytheringingerwitch Thank you for the tips on restoring the dolls, I appreciate it! I do have some milliput. Haha 😂 The pedigree doll is a mystery, it’s unfortunate what has happened to her but my only solution with her is to find a replacement body, but at this time there’s non that are suitable online that I can see. The other option is maybe to create a body for her using other dolls, I’d have to create a neck joint for her though, as it’s on her body and the dolls I’ve seen aren’t a match. Thanks for sharing your advice, it will help. 🙏🏻😊✨
Oh, your older dolls are all adorable! I also used to collect porcelain and vintage dolls, but now my collection is more American Girl. I still have my older dolls though.
Thank you 🙏🏻 I’m glad you enjoyed seeing my older dolls. That’s great! Funnily enough it’s the other way around for me, all my American girl dolls are stored safely in the attic and my vintage dolls are on display. I switch them around now and again. Thanks for watching! 😊✨
See your house looks just like my house. I have a collection of porcelain dolls myself and made clothes for some who needed it. Lovely collection. Bisque (porecelain) dolls with open mouths and teeth are rarer as they are harder to make, because the hole (the mouth) means there is a weakness when firing. But love them so much.
@@slytheringingerwitch Your home sounds wonderful, it’s great that you’ve made clothes for them too. 😁 I’ve always liked porcelain dolls , the rest of my dolls are in my attic at the moment though. I’ve currently no room to display them. The bisque dolls are very unique, I think they’re my favourite type. Thank you for watching! 😊🙏🏻✨
Awww your poor dolls I bet they were all beautiful dolls even the last one not sure what you can do with her be nice if you can fix. Nice that you kept them not scary to me 👻Have a few my self as you know 😂
@@Dollymixtures67 I know! I don’t mind some of their imperfections it gives them character ! Those three are very dear to me. No they’re not scary to me either however the last ones smell is!🤢 But theres nothing I can do for the pedigree one as the chemical reactions and gases they emit are potentially harmful too. So I don’t think I’ll be taking her back out any time soon. The smell is too overwhelming and I value my health over a doll. Perhaps I’ll one day get rid of her body and try to find a replacement if her head can be saved. 🤷🏼 Glad that you like them and Thank you for watching! 😁✨
@@Dollymixtures67 Yes because I also feel that the smell comes from her body not her head so replacing it would make more sense. We shall see if there’s any replacement bodies out there that could be a good fit. 😁✨
I love these. I think the pedigree one is a composition doll. Don’t get her wet or she will melt away! Bicarbonate of soda used dry all over and rubbed in may shift the smell. You Tube channel ‘Rachel Hoffman’ is good for restoring tips. She’s in Denver and owns a doll shop. Thanks for showing them. ❤✨🙏🖤
@@GlindaDoll Thank you! 😄 I’m glad that you like them! I have a love for a lot of dolls but these kind of antique ones are special to me. Thanks for the tips! Oh no I might have made it worse when I wiped her down!😮 Oh dear, although she was already falling apart upon arrival. 🙈 Thank you, yes I’ll check her out because I want to try to preserve my dolls as best as I can, I’ve never had this happen before. ✨
Be careful that the Pedigree girl doesn't make you sick with her fumes @14:00. Is the smell like a smoker's (nicotine) smell? From what I saw it looks like her plastic is rotting and that is what is causing the fumes. I worry she is going to make you sick. Keep her in that plastic bag.
@@08andylee Yes that’s what it smells like but it’s also a mixture between a sour smell too. Maybe I should get rid of her then! Thanks for letting me know about this. ✨
I really don't see them as creepy, maybe in-person? Did you realize the hands on the last doll look like in the position of "I love you" in sign language? Maybe you could get her a new body.
@@DebsDollRoom They probably are creepy to non doll collectors maybe. A few people I know find them really creepy. 🤣 The pedigree doll though isn’t my favourite due to the strong smell she admits. Aww I didn’t realise that, that’s lovely. ☺️ Yes I need to find her a body but so far there’s non that are suitable, I shall keep looking, either that or a create a make shift body somehow out of different doll parts. 👀 👻✨
