Ian I may have found a way to mark your control loops without using a proper use colouring, of seams. Select edges, Edge menu, Mark Freestyle edge. It will mark the edges Green. So long as you do not use, or want to use, Freestyle cell shading, which is very very unlikely anyone does, it will do nothing functional to the model, or the render, as far as I can see if you do not have freestyle ticked. So it can be used without other complication or consequence. Now you can use seams only for real seams!
Nicholas. My old friend. This is wonderful. It means control loops can remain marked and can be changed during texturing setup. I love it. Thank you. In order not to confuse people, I will probably still use mark seam as that is what people are used to seeing me doing. But I will certainly be mentioning this as a good (better!) Alternative. I hope you dont mind if I mention your name.
@@ianmcglasham Happy to help. When I saw it I thought I know where that would be useful! lol. Yes I understand changing what was done in previous videos would be a bit confusing. No problem.
Wow !! cool effects Ian you know blender so well, I wasn't aware that you had that much key frame control in blender as I use Adobe After Effects for some of the effects shown in this video. But now thanks to you I can do them in blender!!
Hi Ian, thank you for one more amazing video! I would love to see a video from you on retopology, I created my first character and I am making the retopology, as it is a creature I did not find much help. It is about the deformation, how to build the structure in the right way for extreme movements. I hope you would share your thoughts on this subject. Thank you again, I love your work!
There's a new snapping feature in blender 4x that's worth a mention, to use it it doesn't require vertex option selected in snapping. Just select your geometry and press G, then press B and click a point on your selection you would like to end up snapped then select a vert or edge to snap to, takes a little practise but its a nice tool.
Thank you so much for these tutorials. It's great to find an approach that is clearly is worth devoting time and effort to. The pacing is great and the explanations are superb. One thing I would be interested in seeing is you problem solving some difficult topology problem, and talking through the different solutions you consider. And why you might pick one over the others. So things like the king and queen where you start at the top instead of the bottom, or the M where you targeted the centre dip for extending the internal geometry. I understand why these work, the explanation is very clear, but I'm not so sure how you would get there on these or some more difficult complex problem - what is the decision making process for that? Do you try a few things until it gets clearer? is it more about experience?
20:05 -ish .. A Lattice object accepts quite a few modifiers itself.. including Simple Deform.. and .. Lattice! Worth a look-see.. can be very handy for effects which would otherwise seem pretty complicated. (You don't have to rotate the last ring of the Lattice because it's static. 360 == 0 and it doesn't care how you got there) I still didn't guess how you did the animation, back in the last, though..
Hi Robin. Yes. The lattice is amazing. Multiple lattices all animating and working in unison can do amazing things! Using a soft body on a lattice within a lattice can create incredibly complicated animation in no time. Cheers!
Why not save your font style alphabet after retopo working in the Asset manager, use the screen cast keys to show your key presses and mouse clicks, when inserting ket frames you can just hover over the angle and press I to insert a key frame. Super good tut though, quality Pro work, thanks for sharing.
Cheers Vinny. Do you have any good recommendations for screencast keys? I can't get any of the ones I have tried to behave properly. Seems like it should be such an easy thing to sort out.. but I am definitely struggling with it!! I do save everything in the asset manager but I thought that would be a bit boring to put I these tutorials. I will be giving the final full font away, and I'll make a video about doing that then!
Words can't describe my feeling when seeing the video, as always the most beautiful content
Thank you so much mj. It really does mean a lot.
@@ianmcglasham u r welcome, I am waiting for another amazing videos ...

Mindblowing! And "eye-bending" :-)
YES! A new video from Ian! I'll never stop to thank you. Re-topo the "m" was tricky and as always, was also a great lesson.
Cheers luca! The rest of the lowercase letters are a walk in the park now! The next difficult one is the capital B.
Interesting! I'll try that for sure.
Wow. Keep these coming. I love your tutorials and techniques
Cheers sece. Glad you like them.
Thank you for showing us the possibilities that this retopology process opens!
Cheers Glenn. I'm really glad you like it.
Thank you so much, Mr. McGlasham. You are absolutely amazing.
Cheers ianzlocz! Thanks for your support!
Great topology and subd technique tutorials. Keep it up, Ian. Enjoy the next couple of weeks.
Thanks Louis!! I will!

m looks like not easy work..
But we had got a rest time on “l”
Let’s mmmmm mmmmm mmmmm
The rest of the lowercase letters are fairly easy now!
My friend is Theo we go to the same school
