@@Ali_Clarkson interested to know how compares to your hex? I am sure have mentioned before regarding how well i thought full sus could work for trials riding But not having the skill you have, was difficult to prove?
Another superb video what a great job Fraser did filming specially following Ali over the rocks more Fraser please I think Ali and all of us would appreciate him filming
Involving Fraser is definitely a leap forward, Ali . Now that I watch this video in the new format for the first time, I feel like it's getting some sort of new vibe to it.
"From my side business Ali Express" LOL! I came back to this video to find an actual parts site where you sell the stuff you use. Loved the breakdown of your setup. Very critical when applying trials to mtb. Thanks!
You should do a series where you learn a new dirt jump skill in each video. I think the future of trials really is going to be a big meshing of the different disciplines. In the future people will have to be really well rounded riders who can "Jib" as you all it but also huck a drop or whip a gap Because a well rounded rider like that can ultimately put out the most interesting type of content Guys like you and danny doing trials techniques on capable enduro/trail bikes and making it look so good will be the precursor to that IMO A ton of trials techniques/ tricks make a ton of sense in the context of a technical slopestyle/urban freeride so I think it makes sense that you will see trials riders learning to jump/freeride and also slopestyle guys learning different trials techniques
That is about the same as I run my shocks, max rated pressure, but locked out (at 100kg I still bottom out). Of course my full suspension bike doesn't dance around lightly like yours does. Must be the hot pink.
it still weirds me out hearing people say 27.5 as smaller wheels. I still ride enduro and dh with 26 and have never had issues that the wagon wheels supposedly were supposed to fix. Awesome bike and video.!
Nice to have a filmer eh! Frazer handycam, shredder of the loading bay and laird of the pump track! Loving how easy you make it look on the shadypuss 👌
You ride that so well! Actually looks really good. Honestly most trials guys look awful on mtb even when amazing at trials. I blame this on bike sloppy set ups. This bike and set up seem a good fit. 13:42 was fave move and bike is ideal for that move.
Nice job Fraser! I really appreciate the nice dynamic range in this footage, for example the segment at 10:46. Perfect for this style of footage. Nice sound too. Would love to know what kind of setup was used here (camera, lens, mic, quality/log settings, etc).
Ai, by my calcs, if you ran the 30t ring, you'd be 1/2 way between your current ratio and using the 21t cog, from 32.1 to 34.2 vs 36.7 if you dropped down to the 21t. Your pressures aren't as high as I'd imagined they would be. Also, from a shooting perspective, you should have stayed with your first angle and sun somewhat behind you, created really nice lighting with the backlight helping you and the bike stand out from the background, vs with the sun in front where I found you "blended" into the background.
That’s one way that could work but like someone else commented going to shorter cranks would stiffen up the best slightly and I think that would be a great way to go as I maintain the ground clearance of the smaller chainring and also gain a bit of clearance with the shorter cranks. I appreciate your quick maths though 👍🏻
Did the same calculations without realizing you already commented it lol. But after some more quick calculations, the force on the pedal would be roughly the same staying with the 28t but switching to a 165mm crank compared to 175mm cranks and a 30t.
Wow fast rebound, I want to know what you run for rebound when you ride trails and even jumps. Seriously high level riding, it looks so fun blasting up those huge rocks! Surprised you run 10 psi less up front, maybe I've been running my front tires way too hard
most people have 32, 104BCD front sprocket., on a MTB/ Jump bike Ive never seen a 28 104BCD hollow tech (all I can afford) What would you recommend for a back sprocket, but single speed for 32 t front sprocket .. Im about to purchase three different size rear sprockets, For jibby moves Ive been asking this question for some years, and many times on this channel! 🤞
Brilliant! What size is the frame and how tall are you? I'm thinking I would go one size smaller than a regular trail bike if I was doing techy/playful/trialsy things. What do you think?
Did you have custom decals made for the fork or is that how they came? I had some made for my enduro bike by Slik Graphics, they're a Swedish company but they deliver pretty promptly to the UK.
hi Ali, do you have any tips on bailing high (1.5-2m tall) skinny features? how would you approach this type of higher consequence low margin for error features?
Oh I absolutely use all the travel at times, bigger drops and taps (hitting the front wheel to boost up the face of a rock) tend to be the biggest impacts
Yeah, I guess that makes sense. Just 5mm sag is so little for me, coming from a trails background, and not a trials one. By the way, you mentioned wanting a slightly higher gear ratio, and wanting shorter cranks. Shorter cranks have an impact on the perceived gear ratio (you have less leverage, so the gear ratio feels harder). Maybe going down to 165's or 170's could be the ticket. 30 to 28 is a ~7% difference. 175 to 170 is a ~3% change
So I mainly do trials but jibbing also includes playful riding and tricks, like the 50to01 guys do…it’s using bikes to play rather than going on traditional rides
Is a 26t and a 9spd 11-36 on a 26er dj bike with 45deg stem and high rise bar ok? I am struggling with budget sometimes bike shop over price so I need a wise purchase.
This is my favorite video in a while. You make that look so easy, and that bike looks amazing.

Dynamic is the word! I like the addition of Fraser.
Fair play @ 12:45 that looks high poop factor! Bike works very well. Camerman great addition.

Thanks for inspiring me to get out on my hardtail and do a little trials style riding again :) Great video 👍

Great area to ride in, and cool job by Cammer...
Awesome Vid. It did look cool with the mountain in the back!!
So much power and endurance. Some of those lines were huge and went on forever.

did you say what size the frame was? anyways when youre standing next to it it looks really playfull and low slung for a mid travel bike
I don’t think I did! It’s a medium and I’m 177cm 🤘🏻
Wow fast rebound, I want to know what you run for rebound when you ride trails and even jumps. Seriously high level riding, it looks so fun blasting up those huge rocks! Surprised you run 10 psi less up front, maybe I've been running my front tires way too hard
Good idea camera 🎥 man follow you through the lines to give more of a akrigg perspective
Hello I love your videos there, and in this last one I have seen that you use a bash guards and the dish also where I could get it thanks
Cool, helicopter!
I feel like a pinion or IGH would make jibbing on a trail bike even better
Certainly would be nice not to have a mech BUT pinions and internal hubs have very few engagements and any benefits would soon be lost
How tall are you? Is the inspired hex perfekt for your you?
most people have 32, 104BCD front sprocket., on a MTB/ Jump bike

Hey Ali, i think your rear tire is mounted in the wrong direction, isnt it? I think the orange stripe has top be on the left side...
The rear tyre is uni-directional so it doesn’t really matter but I think I matched it to the front tyre which is fitted correctly
Actually just checked and you’re right! It doesn’t match the front. Like I said it doesn’t really matter but well spotted 👍🏻
hi Ali,

how would you approach this type of higher consequence low margin for error features?
iDK why, but I always chuckle about the time Ali C was Ali G! LOL

How much travel do you end up using? Do you ever approach bottom out? The shock especially seems crazy stiff 😮
Oh I absolutely use all the travel at times, bigger drops and taps (hitting the front wheel to boost up the face of a rock) tend to be the biggest impacts

do you think that volume spacers would give a nicer feeling to the bike for trials or not?? just a random question that came to mind

It’s a term used in snow sports where you just play about doing little tricks and generally having a laugh
