Absolutely love the 986 boxsters the early ones like yours are special to very good cars. These cars are going up in value now and quite fast to. This is the Porsche that saved the company from going under. The early boxsters with the 2.5 engine came with the double row IMS bearing that had less than 1% chance of failing so it really isn’t important to replace the IMS. The car is very light and has plenty of power to throw around and have a lot of fun with. The loathed fried egg headlights are starting to be very appreciated now to. Pretty special to have the orange all around the genuine fried egg headlights. These are one of the most fun analog sports cars to drive ever made. I have spent quite a bit of time in a z3 a Honda S2000 and the 986. The only people who don’t like these cars are usually people who have never driven one. They have aged very well and they keep getting better looking as time goes on. Driving one of these will genuinely leave u smiling. These cars are relatively easy to work on and maintain and they are very dependable. With normal maintenance they should get an easy 200k+ miles on an engine. The 2000-2005 boxsters used a single row IMS that had a much higher chance of failure than the early ones. Not a horrible idea to have replaced while doing the clutch but still the chances are low and most of these cars will never have a problem. No need to worry about the early 97-99 cars tho. You got an awesome very low mile manual with a beautiful color this one is definitely a keeper I would not hesitate to buy this car
I've owned my 1997 boxster for over 20 years now with minor mechanical repairs and still runs strong and turns heads (still with factory paint) ... not bad for a 25 year old car. I still enjoy and have lots of fun driving it with top down. I had it serviced recently and the owner of the shop was impressed on how of a great shape this car is with 117k miles and being 25 years old. I will hold on to this one for sure :-)
Love the 986. For a 2.5 I was impressed with the sound and acceleration. Great thing about lower horsepower cars is you can drive the wheels off of them and not lose your license.

I think I’m out of that game man. Love the Eclipse but cannot stand the majority of the community around the platform. You got a gem though so hold out for a good price. 👍🏼
Last year i brought a 2001 out of AZ , that was repainted that color with larger wheels with 140000 miles on it for 5600 from a car lot here in Montana. Great car , l would really like to take a road trip to Seattle in it. Is yours Arena Red
I have done that in the past. Watch my series on the SRT4. It’s fun to learn and not feel bad about the dings and dents when you buy a not so great example. At This point for the amount of time it saves and amount of sanity you gain paying up for a nice example is worth it in my opinion.
