They need to do more audio stories! I downloaded these and listen to them outside my garden, closing my eyes and swinging on my chair, imagining the story.
@@tigorelloensil3676 Not true: it was quite common for the Doctor and his companions to refer to the ship as "TARDIS" ("Quick, get bsck to _Tardis!_ ) in the early years of the show. And the first three Doctor actors were credited as playing 'Doctor Who.'
My problem with these annual stories is that the characterisation tends to be well off. Like, the 2nd Doctor wouldn't say "My children" to Ben and Polly, he definitely acts a lot more aggressive, rude and condescending. Like, even Ben and Polly seem off, talking about stealing stuff.
idk if some audio books like this could work animated maybe the mothly ranges like the full cast stuff but not this (also its a bbc audio book this time not big finish (: )
Yep! The first Doctor Who Annual was Doctor Who Annual 1966 - released in 1965. Even earlier than that was The Dalek Book, a compilation of Dalek-related short stories and comics released in 1964! So the daleks featured on a non-TV story before the Doctor did.
I take it you don't know much about the classic series *face palms* Even the villains sometimes called him Doctor such as WOTAN and he was almost always credited as Doctor Who, even sometimes he was credited as Doctor Who in Modern Who
She's reading directly from the annual's story, back then they would often write him as "Doctor Who". Even on the credits of the classic era the character was listed as such.
Wow the writers seem a little condescending and arrogant back then. He was doctor who back then. The who is more of a question today imo. After all we don’t say ‘master who’ do we? Also why couldn’t the tardis translate hieroglyphics?
The translation thing was first mentioned with the Fourth Doctor and was not really mentioned again until the Ninth Doctor. I like to think that like most things in The TARDIS its frequently breaking down and needing repairs.
In the closing credits The Doctor was credited as "Doctor Who" for the first four Doctors and 18 (!) seasons of the original series plus all of Christopher Eccleston's episodes in the revival series.

Well, Big Finish has a lot of Doctor Who stories in audio, and let me tell you, they are amazing.
I think now it's about the time to you to find out what Big Finish is.
There’s thousands of big finish audios out there
Love this. I was confused why they kept calling the Doctor "Doctor Who" but then I remembered this was an older story.
New whovians: it's the Doctor, not Doctor Who!!!
Doctor who annual, 1968: oH rEAlLy?
Not just the 1968 Annual, but actually during most of the classic show the Doctor was credited as « Dr. Who »
People who get uptight about the Doctor being called "Doctor Who" need to get over it.
@@blackphoenix77 yeah really
Her Michael Craze and Patrick Troughton are so perfect. She has Pat's slight growl on his hard consonants down.... Well "pat".
Well, she's worked with them both. She has experience.
Yes, another doctor who audio adventure!
I still adore how the classic companions say the Tardises name as "TARDIS" like it's a character
(and tbh It is one of the most important characters)
Squicx Im sure there was an episode where the doctor met her (the tardis) as ‘it’ took human form. But there’s an equal chance I dreamt it I guess 😂
@@herbthefox The Doctors Wife
This (along with calling him Dr. Who in universe) was only really a thing in the annuals =)

Ben and Polly are my favourite companions. Maybe it's because I've watched more of their stories
“Let’s get where the stars are.” -- Ben Jackson, 1968
Enjoyed listening to that.
Good to hear some classic Doctor Who.
Thank you so much bbc had a stressful day so far so this has made it better

I wasn't watching the screen and thought it was a first doctor story.
Thanks!! I want this CD
Lovely work!
They need to do more of these.
Love Polly, this has made my day. :)
Awesome!
Very good audiobook.
I love Doctor Who
So do i
This sounds incredible, but the second Doctor sounds more like the First Doctor instead of the Second.
Yeah
Apparently this was written quite early on in Troughton's tenure, so the writer hadn't totally figured out what this Doctor was like yet
@@russelltietjen4407 oh I agree. I find Troughton to be the whacky Uncle type while Hurtnell was more the stern grandfather type.
@@silverbullet1620 I thought he looked like Mo in the three stooges ( in old films )
Thank you bbc dr who .

Big like. Wow that's amazing. Egypt's culture is great
"Doctor Who stayed behind for a moment"
Ha, told you. Lol
I've got several old Doctor Who annuals, but not this one.🙂
Anneke Wills still sounds exactly the same as she did in the 60s!
Is a shame Jamie isn’t here
Well it's probably set in between The Power of the Daleks and The Highlanders
Ben Ben yeah I got that cheers
