@@WillHol29 I was referring to the Monument to the Battle of the Nations in Leipzig, Germany. Some scenes were filmed inside, an outside shot even made it into the movie albeit heavily altered with cgi. I think in the movie it's where the mentors meet their tributes before the games. In this video here you can see the inside best when they have this note passing moment they decide they can't show us. Some of the "interviews" later are also shot around the outside of the monument. The monument is open for visit most days. It was build in 1913 to commemorate the 1813 Battle of the Nations where a coalition of Russia, Prussia, Austria, Sweden and Britain defeated Napoleon's France and it's Allies in an epic 4 day battle. Tragically Germans fought and died on both sides.

Honestly, I feel like they missed an opportunity for a brief training montage as peace keepers bc they basically went from being introduced to peace keeping to standing guard at the hanging tree so fast. 😅
The moment when Clemensia gets bitten by the snake mutts was done horribly. That should be a scene that was used to show the despicable nature of Dr. Gual (who was played by an actress who did not portray the energy she had in the book.) In the book, the snake bites Clemi gets ooze rainbow colors (which can be done without it being R because it looks more cartoony and not realistic) and she starts growing scales. It almost drives her mad. It was not done well in this film.

In the book, this is later built on in a discussion between Gaul and the mentors where she tells them that the dark days never ended and will never end so they must control everything. The point of the story is Gaul taking Snow under her wing and building him into the man in the original trilogy.
All I can say is that, Dr. Gaul convincing her to place her hand in a jar full of snakes (especially mutant poisonous ones), is a cruel act in itself. Nobody in their right mind (snake haters and lovers) would not be that stupid. It almost makes me wonder what kind of real power Gaul had over everyone.
That is the point of Gaul as a character. She is sporadic, energetic, and unpredictable. Unfortunately I don’t feel Ms. Viola Davis brought that energy to the big screen. Not to be rude, but I feel like she was a diversity hire. A better fit might have been Ms. Tilda Swinton or Ms. Cate Blanchett.
