    I actually painted this at least 10+ yrs ago, yet it still has tape on it bc I haven't completed it. It was one of my 1st paintings and was so proud of myself I was afraid to move on after it dried for fear of botching it. ❤❤❤ Thank you for this great tutorial.

      Great comment Patricia. I think every artist, certainly myself, can relate to being afraid to do something. The beautiful thing is that we can break through that if we want. Good luck.

    As a professional watercolor artist that is fairly tight in technique, I appreciate your videos! I am learning to loosen up and create more underpainting, and using some of your techniques. Using the stick for branches is my favorite! Thanks!

    Do you pre-shrink your paper so it doesn't get all wavy? I tried to do that using masking tape to hold the paper down but it tends to come loose.

    • @kbboynew1
      @kbboynew1  3 года назад

      I've gone through brief phases where I stretched the paper but over all I never found it worth sticking with. True the paper does buckle but I've just learned to work with it.

    Very brave! Why did you not use 300# with all that water? I'm curious. I love 140#, but work too wet. Thank you!

      I almost always use 140 lb and I'm just comfortable with it.

    Can you please tell me a little about the brush you are using? is that a 1" flat and possibly where I could find it?

    • @kbboynew1
      @kbboynew1  10 лет назад +1

      Yes it is a 1" flat. The label just says 'Gold Sable Series 850'. I can't remember where I got it but I know it wasn't very expensive maybe $18 but I like it.

    This is nit-picking, but pthalo colors are pronounced talo. The pth is silent, like the h in Thomas.

    • @renzo6490
      @renzo6490 5 лет назад +1

      As far as I can tell, no definitive pronunciation has been decided upon for the word Phthalo.
      The original word is phthalocyanine.
      So your spelling, '' pthalo'' is incorrect to start with.There is an H after the P
      Some people say THAY-low, some THAL-o.
      But I have never heard anyone else say talo.

    • @patriciasell

      Me neither. Most artists say "phaylo"
