What you are telling about nations evokes my strongest resistance, may be caused by the fate that I was born in Germany in 1960. The socialization in school and society was centered around the guilt of the nation. I never felt as a German. The best about Germany I found in a word of Sri Aurobindo, where he analogous said that Germany was looking for its Soul but only found its power. However, if I would have to name a country living its Soul I could only point on Bhutan, the rest is poisoned with more or less Westernization. Also I came very early in contact with the work of Sri Aurobindo (I celebrated my 18. birthday in Pondy, also my 30. and 50., so always in His room) I first turned towards science, first economy but changed to sociology - so to say armed with the "hour of God". You may believe that all I found in universities were contradicting Sri Aurobindo. But there was always something in me which told me, that HE is right and Sciences wrong. But where to be home? First it was a kind of intellectual cosmopolitism inspired from Nietzsche: "State is the name of the coldest of all cold monsters. It even lies coldly, and this lie crawls out of its mouth: “I, the state, am the people.” This is a lie! The ones who created the peoples were the creators, they hung a faith and a love over them, and thus they served life. The ones who set traps for the many and call them “state” are annihilators, they hang a sword and a hundred cravings over them. Where there are still peoples the state is not understood, and it is hated as the evil eye and the sin against customs and rights. ... Language confusion of good and evil: this sign I give you as the sign of the state. Indeed, this sign signifies the will to death! Indeed, it beckons the preachers of death! Far too many are born: the state was invented for the superfluous! Just look at how it lures them, the far-too-many! How it gulps and chews and ruminates them! ... There, where the state ends, only there begins the human being who is not superfluous; there begins the song of necessity, the unique and irreplaceable melody." (Nietzsche: Thus Spoke Zarathustra, On the New Idol) Second I found the words of the Mother and see in it the highest Truth on Earth: "I belong to no nation, no civilization, no society, no race, but to the Divine. I obey no master, no ruler, no law, no social convention, but the Divine. To Him I have surrendered all, will, life and self; for Him I am ready to give all my blood, drop by drop, if such is His will, with complete joy, and nothing in His service can be sacrifice, for all is perfect delight." Surely it is the goal and not an realization. Third and a after a time of burnout and depression I wanted to enter the Ashram. My old contacts (among others Medhananda and Yvonne Artaud) left their bodies, and Vijay refused me and referred me to Auroville. But there I felt repelled by an atmosphere not easy to describe. If you were knowing the Ashram and Auroville from 1978 and compare it with 2008, there was a feeling of disappointment, by no means because of the enormous work meanwhile done, and you only have to see the Matrimandir to know how much was done, no, all this looks great. But inside I missed something and this could be a wrong word: the old spirit and enthusiasm. May be that my ego dominated me. However, I left and started to travel around Southeast Asia. On my first day in Bangkok I met in a barbershop a young lady. Behind her face I saw Guan Yin and I was driven to make a marriage proposal without knowing anything about her or the country. After 11 years I'm still hear. We have a very deep connection on the level of the soul. We are living on countryside and I can only say that I would never question the above mentioned words of the mother and the love of my heart. Moreover I deeply convinced that the future will be build on smaller but connected units and never again on states. With the words of the Mother and love in your heart borders become needless. To summarize: Our home is the heart and the spirit wherever we are. And nations are in my view temporary accidents. With modification of Sri Aurobindo: They were helper and become a bar.
There is a truth in what you say but it is a truth of the future. Just as one cannot climb a high mountain summit in one stride so too man cannot realise the ideal of Unity in Diversity leaping from the selfish egoistic state that much of humanity still is to the cosmic vastnesses and deep universality that are native to our soul expansion. As Sri Aurobindo put it a divine anarchy may well be the final state of humanity when each individual lives by the Ray of intuition but in the middle it will lead us straight to the devil. Of course it is quite true that the future will see more and more the emergence of small communes, the first training for which one finds in the family and the second in the nation unit. These are steps that humanity needs to take lest it slips in its haste and enters the abyss rather than the empyrean.
@@AuroMaa Thank you, I hope I understood; the intellectual sword of distinction is never enough to avoid the danger of the devil, one needs the spiritual power of discernment to recognize what is divine and what isn't. Only if one is fully surrendered to the Divine one is on the right way. So if the soul is following the above mentioned words of the Mother, our way goes under the sun of the spirit. If the ego thinks to follow her words it may go directly into the abyss. Second, one has to remember that between a personal intuition and the collective realization can be a gap of hundreds of years. The patience of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother with us must be really endless!
