The most fantastic thing about Shutter Island is that it is 100% successful in it's originality. Not just a re-make of an old story. Brilliantly made and the ending is a true reflection on how sad life can end!
"Don't you recognize me, Teddy? I've been your primary psychiatrist for the past 2 years.." -- Chuck as he finally reveals his true identity. the movie has one thing that the book does not do: make some scenes so epic.
I had to have more Leo after watching Shutter Island. The character development on Leo's character was way too amazing.... I got way too attached and am heartbroken. One of the best movies by farr. BTW LEO is the BEST ACTOR IN THE PLANET.
The film was genius, Leo is someone that always turns up in any film he does. Also Kinsley played the role really well. Sort of felt stupid second time of watching this as little details make it obvious he is a patient.
Great performance by Leo, and of course, let's not overlook the other cast. They are just great, absolutely amazing film and a great performance. Just outstanding!
This movie was AMAZING!!! At the end though, I think he was completely sane and decided to let the people take his life. He would rather die as Teddy than live as what he truly is. And when his delusions of wife keep popping up and saying " the lighthouse will be the end of you" she was referring to the character that he made himself become. If he went to the lighthouse, he would become sane again.
i was impressed and surprised by this film. i had extremely high expectations for both scorsese and dicaprio and they both delivered and then some. best movie i've seen in a while.
I used to be a Leonardo hater, but after maturing a bit and watching the movies he's been able to produce "Catch me if you can", "Shutter Island", "Inception" in particular, he's my favourite actor and is amazing.
The darkest and most defeatist thing about the movie is that Andrew Alaeddis is really, deep down aware of his situation the whole time, he just doesn't want to accept it, the scene in the cave with your woman (too drunk to remember her name) is the most important and telling scene in the movie
Leo NEVER disappoints me.. just as i expected this is really a great movie.. until i lay down to sleep i'm still thinking about this movie.. mind boggling especially the talk he had on the cave just over the cliffs..
I like Jake but I've noticed something he does in a lot of his interviews where you can tell he's researched previous interviews the actor or director has done, taken note of some of their answers then presented them as his own astute observations. That thing about Scorsese depending on his actors to step up is something DiCaprio has said a million times and Jake is like "correct me if I'm wrong..." lol
I loved Shutter Island! It is one of the greatest movies I have ever seen. If you have only seen it once I recommend seeing it another time. You feel like you have a better idea of what's going on.
Yes he's insane, but at the very end, when he said "Would you rather live as a monster or die as a good man" indicated that he did NOT relapse, he just led them on to believe he did. Man that was a difficult movie to comprehend at times.
i saw the movie!!!!! is amazing movie and leonardo anh the others actors and actrees are amazing, fantastic movie.... and the end is fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! amazing movie
I read the book just so I can watch the movie haha. I made the mistake of watching "what's eating gilbert grape" before reading it so I did not make the mistake with this. Just finished the book today, planning on watching it next week!
@Venicequez the ending of the book is slightly different... in the film it is clear that Teddy has been taken for a labotomy but in the book it just ends with Teddy saying "Yeah, we are aren't we?" you should read it, it's brilliant
i saw the movie yesterday and i dont get the end did he become a patient or was he alredy a patient? and in the end did they realese him in the end i dident get it? please send messege to me.
Total Eclipse is the one movie I have not seen! And yes, I watched Don's Plum a few weeks ago, it was so good I watched it again right after! Its a lot of improvised acting, but still great in my opinion. Tobey Maguire is in it and he and Leo were sensational. There is a lot of vulger talk in the film ( Leo's character is one of the biggest Douche bags ever and I still loved every bit of him. I had to watch it online because it wasn't released in the U.S, but I really recommend it :)
agreed :) Romeo+Juliet was romantic, but it really didn't seem like an easy role to play. Total eclipse is one of the weirdest movies I've seen, but so good. This Boy's Life is also something I would recommend. Have you seen Don's Plum? cause I've never got my hands on it. It's a bit hard to find.
@20bill3 i believed he was nuts except one thing- the tie. If he really was imagining all that, how did he get ahold of that tie and blow up the car with it? Or was all that given to him beforehand.
I think he is sane at the end. When he says 'die a good man or live as a monster' he is saying he would rather die then live with the fact that he did all those things (trying to avoid spoilers lol) Thus he gets up and walks away with the orderlies. He doesn't want to leave and live as a monster.
I can't get this movie out of my head. This movie is not for everyone. It's not brainless and it doesn't throw mindless theatrics at you. It's a great story, and Mr.Scorsese always states that a movie's primary component is the story. That being said, it's not what I would call a mind blowing suspense but a movie that unravels a beautiful of tragic character. You already know how it's going to end. However, what you don't know is who the characters really are. It's a brilliant film.
one of the most crazy ass movies I've ever seen, it's just plain crazy
Stella yo crazy insane GOOD
I love how at the end he plans to die fighting against the nazis/conspiracy instead of get turned into one of their 'ghosts'.
Aaron Alsept
Better to die a good man. Or live with a band aid on my forehead.
Teddy and us the audience tricked.
That’s the beauty
The interviewer seems like he's the 68th patient.
HUGELY underrated comment. Made me laugh
😂
Hahaha
🤣
Oh my goddess 🤣🤣🤣I cannot stop laughing at 2am
The most fantastic thing about Shutter Island is that it is 100% successful in it's originality. Not just a re-make of an old story. Brilliantly made and the ending is a true reflection on how sad life can end!
It's actually an adaptation of a book.
@@brookejones4889 Many are not aware of it, surprisingly.
"Don't you recognize me, Teddy? I've been your primary psychiatrist for the past 2 years.." -- Chuck as he finally reveals his true identity.

Oooooh my goiid that got me SO BAD
This movie is beyond perfect. And Leo ofcourse.

This is probably the best performance by Leo in any Movie. The scene where he realized his kids got dead his acting in that scene was absolute GOLD ❤😍
Loved this film really makes you think twice

watched this movie a year ago but i always find myself thinking about it. its just so good
This movie was AMAZING!!!

i love the fact that he masters so many different dialects ! Awsome :D
Leo NEVER disappoints me.. just as i expected this is really a great movie.. until i lay down to sleep i'm still thinking about this movie.. mind boggling especially the talk he had on the cave just over the cliffs..

They're called talking points, I think. Otherwise, both parties will look dumb.

Sir Ben Kingsley is a boss

The interview is incredible
Thank you for the explanation!
he's my idol.
For the amazing work that he has done thus far, Leonardo diCaprio should have at least three Oscars by now.
Ahh...such a beautiful man.
Great interview. You really got the best out of these two guys.
Oh then if you really like Leo and keep following his career, you should absolutely see Total Eclipse! He's fantastic in this movie!
I loved Shutter Island! It is one of the greatest movies I have ever seen. If you have only seen it once I recommend seeing it another time. You feel like you have a better idea of what's going on.
Thank you very much!
Leo's the man.

Shutter Island is an immense film! Leo is just amazing from start to finish! Where is his oscar??
Yes he's insane, but at the very end, when he said "Would you rather live as a monster or die as a good man" indicated that he did NOT relapse, he just led them on to believe he did. Man that was a difficult movie to comprehend at times.
It’s honor to like your comment after 13yrs

I read the book just so I can watch the movie haha. I made the mistake of watching "what's eating gilbert grape" before reading it so I did not make the mistake with this. Just finished the book today, planning on watching it next week!
@DieselVsVans The ending drove me so freaking crazy
@Venicequez

Lol, why did you clip in "Jake" at 2:02? Clearly isn't a part of the original audio.
I think you going crazy Teddy.
@@MalrickEQ2 lmfao

i saw the movie yesterday and i dont get the end did he become a patient or was he alredy a patient? and in the end did they realese him in the end i dident get it? please send messege to me.

this movie is like they got to the island and someone lost the script, and they just made it up as they went.

The shot at 7:00 .... Is that even in the movie?
SOOOOOOO SAD! I liked the ending though. But so sad!
yea and also Resident evil this movie remember me a lot of the first resident evil game
can you link it to me?
@chanelprincess16 She's talking about Ben Kingsley. Ben Kingsley plays Anne Frank's dad, not Leo.
was that robert de niro on 4:09
@20bill3 i believed he was nuts except one thing- the tie. If he really was imagining all that, how did he get ahold of that tie and blow up the car with it? Or was all that given to him beforehand.
i recently saw thi movie and i am comfused! he was crazy or not?????
I think he is sane at the end.
