So I have a legitimate question, but I am kind of confused and have been for many years regarding this particular topic and question.
I know that Judaism is a religion. But, according to my family lineage, I am apparently 30% Ashkenazi Jew.
So that is my question if Judaism is a religion. How can I be a percentage of a religion?

Please esxucse the ignorance but from what I know, it is extremely common for an Israeli person to say they’re of a Jewish heritage instead of an Israeli. Frankly I don’t know why we do that but that’s what I think it means

When I was fourteen, I found out something about my grandmother. I became interested, I wanted to became a jew. I tried to get information. I studied Bible and I still follow those kosher- rules. But I can not become jewish, if I am a poor, single woman living in eastern-Finland. Now I am 44 years old.
