Great video! I own a ryzen 3950x and have just ordered a FormdT1 and a AXP90-X53 Full. Do you think it will be able to cool it withi some undervolt and a consumption ceiling at around 105W?
Great video. How about doing the same test using Intel 13900K undervolted? Intel uses more power but is easier to cool so it would be interesting to compare to 7950X. Which would perform better using LP cooler?
It's not the same cooler, but I've already uploaded a video that I tested with 13900K combined with an LP cooler. ruclips.net/video/en4oE7I51YU/видео.html
@@DalraeMyo Yes, that video was also very informative. However, if the same cooler is used, my prediction is that the 13900K can perform better when both 7950X and 13900K has same maximum temperatures, although 13900K will most probably use more power. Question about this. What is the point of putting on a -0.05v offset under volt on top of a PBO curve with Eco mode? Isn’t a PBO plus limiting wattage essentially an under volt already? Just curious if anyone knows.
In the case of CurveOptimizer, negative values are applied to further increase the clock and lower the voltage. This is where we apply this value appropriately, and only the CPU voltage is lowered to an additional offset value. The CPU voltage offset value is optional and usually only the CurveOptimizer value is entered, but I applied it to lower the voltage because I use an LP type air-cooled CPU cooler.
PBO limits the sum of the voltage and ampage by tuning the ampage only, undervolting more obviously only tunes the voltage. The curious thing is, while reducing the ampage can only reduce initial performance, reducing the voltage within the tolerances of the sample might have no impact on performance at all except reducing heat which will obviously lead to longer and higher boosting, while undervolting reduces the effective wattage (and potentially allows you to get more ampage) when you are going low profile, it probably isn't enough (but often is with a full size air cooler). Tldr: it's seperate levers you can pull to reduce heat and while undervolting is "better" you need to do both to get stable results on such a tiny cooler.
I got the x47 for my 7800x-3d and cannot get much below 50c even completely idle. Ive undervolted, lowered max power settings, messed with fan controls and it does little to nothing. I'm probably just going to have to get a low profile water cooled aio eventually.
