    You bet, Brady, I totally enjoyed your video. I loved everything about it. I love it when you stumble across abandoned buildings. That abandoned log cabin was very strange. It looked like someone just walked out and left. The coins on the piece of furniture, the old camera. Apparently, someone liked music. There was a music stand as well.
    Are we going to be surprised if you look into that cabin and be the one who cleans it out to refurbish it? Umm, probably not, but maybe we will wait and see.
    Thank you, Brady, for sharing Leon with us. I always look forward to the next video.

    In the case of the cabin, a lot of properties like that get abandoned when the elderly owners pass away or go into a home. The family either doesn't know about or isn't interested in the property. The calendar briefly seen at 23:20; I can make out that July 7th was a Tuesday. So it was probably abandoned sometime in 2020 or 2015. The photo of the guy smoking the cig looks like it matches that timeframe. The elderly gentleman in the photos is probably the owner. Local municipality should be able to tell you who owns it.

    • @horizon319
      @horizon319 День назад +6

      I also paused the video to check. No easy to see year, dang it. But July 1, 2015 was a Wednesday not a Thursday. Now July 1, 2010, 2004, 1999, or even 1993 started on a Thursday. Could go further back but I think it was somewhere around there.

    • @mikeychowster
      @mikeychowster День назад +1

      @@horizon319 If the Calendar is July 1st on a Thursday by your theory, then the next Thursday should be July 8th. However, July 9th is already occupying what appears to be Thursday. Coincidentally, that July Calendar looks exactly like January of 2025 lol.

    Brady I was researching Maine lobster moulting last year and there could be a few reasons why Leon is taking his time. There is also a technique to force the moult but it is horrific ( eye ablation , cutting off the eye stalks)
    Apparently in Fall , Maine lobsters gorge themselves on seaweed, Kelp and algae. As the days gets shorter , these plants die off and become free floating and easier for lobsters to source. These sea plants are full of nutrients and fibre and are easily digested by crustaceans. Then in spring the temps rise stimulating the fattened lobsters to moult.
    There is also something to do with low protein in the seaweeds as foods high in protein can cause crabs and prawns to excrete calcium. In some cases , this can lead to shell rot in crabs ( I don't know about lobsters but as they are crustaceans...)
    So maybe get Leon some greens? If you could forage some kelps, seaweeds and algae from an ocean beach ( You could probably freeze it) and give him a little every day? Also maybe dose the tank with calcium, aquariums sell calcium supplements for those keeping corals. Im sure Leon will eventually moult but i thought id share some advice just in case.

    I love Leon. It is so fascinating to see his business and his daily life. Perhaps he needs his food intake bumped up a notch as he’s older now he would need more food to metabolize than he did when he was younger. This is what I do when I notice my snake chant shed in some time. As growth is what promotes molting. It’s so fun to watch all Leon’s friends too. I’m such an animal person. Since I was small I was collecting every live bug, salamander, frog, snake, or animal that needed some tlc . This often included snakes too. My mom wasn’t very happy with me when she would find my critters taking up residence in my bedroom. Today the critters gravitate to me still as they did back then. I have a lovely amount of mourning doves that sit in the railing to the deck and sing bright and early in the morning. My son is not so keen on this as it’s right outside his bedroom window and has become his morning alarm. The cats love the birds. The sit in the patio door and watch intently. We do make up names for or cats. Nephertiti my python, is also danger noodle. Black Beard our one orange cat has kitty acne on his chin. I call him Bb. We adopted a feral cat that was hanging around the house and I have been able to tame him really well. He’s now an indoor cat. I call him Dobby after the house elf in the Harry Potter books as he’s always doing crazy things. But out of pure innocence. At night he sleeps in short shifts then he prowls every room checking everything out and checking everyone out in their beds. Then he will lie back down for a rest. And then awhile later he will make his rounds again as if he’s protecting his people and territory. I’m the only one he trusts enough to let live on him an he will sleep on me. I could go on forever. I love my animals. The house definitely should be refinished. It has such potential. I love exploring. I’ve always been an explorer. Looking for treasure in the bushes by our house had tons of bushes surrounding our house. Back to the critters, people in the neighborhood knew I was the critter girl. So periodically someone would drop of a bug or a bird. We had lots of squirrels. Mom and I were making cookies in the kitchen one autumn da day. The table sat right next to the window. We had the window open. I took a batch out and turned around to put them on the table to cool. And ine of my little squirrel grinds, I believe it was chip. Was hanging from the screen begging for a cookie. He chattering so loud. Mom can in the kitchen asking what all the commotion was. Then started laughing. So that day. Chip got his first oatmeal cookie. I also to a couple out for Dale, and others. Happy New Year! And thank you for sharing your critters. I love the last video also!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

      When I saw the old photos and the abandoned house with ALL the stuff in it (old and new), it made me go into detective mode and made me think of the youtube/instagram/tiktok guy Dan Rhodo (aka Shot and Forgot aka Danocracy). He buys batches of old film slides at auction and tries to reunite them with family by using clues in the photos and any writing on the slides to cross-check anything he finds to piece together the story. I wish he could take a look at it and see if he could figure out any leads!!! That would be a VERY cool collaboration. He lives in Texas, too. So... kind of far from Georgia, but not impossible... and also they could collaborate digitally- photos, videos, chat...
      There were TONS of clues as to the last time(s) people may have been there and to what kinds of people they were. I bet you could do a land search and find out who owns/ed the land and go from there, too. It had electricity, so either they were clever and ran generators or they had an address and a power bill associated with someone's name. Look at the calendar, the dvds and games? that were upstairs to determine release dates, the expiration dates on the mustard and other condiments in the kitchen, some of the letters and papers, see if there was any writing on the back of those framed photos by the camera, etc. I bet you could piece together quite a story!

They allowed you to decide to buy live spiny lobsters or lobster tails. The first time that I opted for choosing live lobsters, the employee removed the tails. The lobsters scream as their tails are wrenched off. They definitely feel pain, as do plants as it turns out. Every living thing wants to continue to live.
    The strangely unfinished house had an identical sofa and fabric that I had made about twelve years ago, what an odd coincidence. We also have owned 10 Pugs like the one in the developed film!
    Thanks for the great updates on your life, the cats , the chickens, the Koi and Leon! It is always fun to find a fresh post. I grew up in Allendale SC and Savannah Ga in the 50's, and I have family in Wilson NC. It is nice to see the familiar landscapes of my youth of so long ago, here in the Pacific Northwest so many decades later.

    That camera was kinda cool. And a couple of those pictures look like they might be worth having. Maybe the kids don't have any pictures of grandpa, and as adults may find it worth going back to see if they're still there.
    I know unlikely, but if the right person sees this video, you never know.

    I'm always so glad to see Leon, the little crabs, and the cats and learn how they're doing. I can't believe how much Jet and his siblings have grown. The rescue I adopted nearly three years ago has put on a healthy weight (she was underweight when I got her due to anxiety making her eat less) but I think she's always going to be kind of a smaller cat. She hasn't grown much larger in size and she still sounds like a baby when she meows, which she does a lot now that she feels at home; she's a very social cat I've given my share of funny nicknames. I love seeing abandoned places. From the time I was a little kid I always had this curious impulse to explore inside. I also used to imagine all the ways I would renovate those abandoned homes if I could buy them and that was back before networks like HGTV made things like the "open concept" part of everyone's lexicon. Lol! Thank you for another video, they always bring a smile to my face.

    You could definitely make an entire series of just exploring abandoned places - also, the calender on the bed read July, but the 31st of July seemed to have fallen on a Friday, which means that calender was there in 2020.
    It may have been abandoned due to something related to Covid... maybe the owner couldn't get to it, lost their job or financial security, or worse... who knows.

    that house in the woods was awesome. I too find abandoned places fascinating and also creepy. I wonder what chain of events lead to their abandonment after time as a happy home or whatever. Incidentally, if you go back, put a new film in the camera and a small sign telling visitors to take a photo of themselves or something nearby they like. See what you get.

    Brady that photograph is fantastic! I like all your plants too. Thank you for your videos. It is noticeable that you put a lot of effort into your videos. Thank you for your effort, I appreciate it. I have two cats and one dog, and a number of plants that I very much enjoy. Josh and Mittens ( 7 year old brothers) are the cats (Joshy Boy and Mittens Kittens affectionately), and we have Kora the dog (a 1 year , who I refer to as Little Stinka.... weird, but it's me. lol The old abandoned cabin/house... amazing. It does seem like somebody had some wonderful ideas about it one day and then something happened and no one picked up the rest of the job. It looks like it could be a wonderful home for someone.

    It’s fascinating to me how shell crustaceans molt. My son has a huge salt water tank with live coral and fish. I can appreciate the time spent maintaining them. I never thought I would be drawn to watching the life of a saved lobster. 🦞 Thank you for drawing us in watching Leon. 😊
