Here block is a=b+c b=a-d c=b+c d=a-d Common sub expression is an expression which appears repeatedly in the program, which is computed previously but the values of variables in the expression haven't changes. This technique replaces the redundant expression each time when it encountered. If we observe 1st,3rd statements a=b+c, c=b+c but b value changes in the 2nd statement. so replacement of b+c not possible because b value changes in 2nd stmt. if we observe 2,4th stmt a-d , a as well d doen't changes after 2nd statement so we can replace a-d with b in last stmt.

Here block is
a=b+c
b=a-d
c=b+c
d=a-d
