Was in Yellowstone last year and one of the park rangers told us that at one point in time the park would cull the herds of the elderly bison. They then discovered that the remaining bison had a hard time migrating because it was the grandmothers who led the herd on the migration routes thru Yellowstone. I found that fascinating. By the way, Yellowstone was beautiful beyond words. I wish everyone in the country could visit this amazing park at least once.
My family stayed for 2 weeks!!!!! It was me, my husband and our 2 boys. When I get sad or troubled,. I look for bison videos. Cheers me up right away. These big fellows always make me smile. Oh, the little red dogs do too.
Fun video . I've been raising bison for over 35 years and have seen them jump and clear higher fences than that, I've also seen them plow right through them as well. They are beautiful and majestic animals. thanks for sharing.
It's amazing to me the high percentage of passerbys who never stop and take the time to marvel at animal behavior in the wild. It is a free gift from the Creator and if we would get tuned back in to the vibes and ways of the animals, they can teach us how to survive. If you remember, the wild animals felt the vibration of the Tsunami long before it became visible to humans, so they headed to higher ground where they all survived.
It's amazing how diverse the wildlife is in our country. I've never seen a wild bison but there they seem to be commonplace. Thank you for sharing this video!
Why does the bison jump the fence? To get to the other side. Wait...Wait.....I know it is not funny. But it applies in this case. Love your down home simplicity and honesty.
Thank you Ariel for taking the time and share with the rest of the world. Such magnificent animals. Bisons are my favorite north american big game, has been ever since I was very little and still to the this day I am in so taken in by them. People really do not understand just how powerful these creatures are and at the same time so gentle. One time there was a wild life park with the Bison that i went thru and I purchase a bag of alfalfa cubes to feed the babies as you go thru the park. I happen to stop when there was a cow and calf. I rolled down my window and held out my with a cube. The calf ran over and stuck it head out as far as it could as I was holding the the cube on the tips of my fingers and not touching me the calf stuck out his tongue as far as he could with eyes rolled back into his head he very gently as best as he could and then took with the tip of his little tongue and just kind of lick it away from my fingers without every touching my fingers. So amazing and so cute that he was able to do that without ever touching my fingers. Now this guy was little less than a 100 pounds I could have very easily have picked this little guy up, as i was feeding him I was watching a very large bull I mean a very, very large bull standing off and watching me feed the calf, in a little bit this large bull decided to walk over to my truck, my truck was a 1978 full size 4 wheel drive Blazer, this bulls back was over the top of the cab he was so large, well the calf and mother stood back as this bull approached my blazer he got up to the driver side widow and I did not know what this bull intends were going to be, his head was so large that it extended past the widow and he stood there watching me, I was kind of afraid to move knowing if he wanted to he could flip my blazer over in a blink of an eye he was so large and his breath was so hot being that close to me you know, since I though he had no intends to do anything at the moment and he acted like he wanted some alfalfa cubes problem was the sack of cubes were in the back end of the blazer not knowing what really to do, I decided to craw over into the back and get a hand full of the cubes and all the while this big bull just stood there head kind of inside the window about as far as he could stick it in and with my hand full of cubes I climbed back into my seat and held out a cube for him to see what he would do. Ariel, you would never in your life would believe what happen next, this big bull bigger than my blazer with his head in the window took and stepped back enough for him to lower and stick his head out just like what the little calf did just moments before rolled his eyes back into his head stuck out his tongue as far as he could while I was holding this alfalfa cube on the tips of my fingers as far as I could stretch my arm out of the trucks window and this bull just took the tip of his tongue and as gently as he could and without touching any of my finger started to lick the alfalfa cube and take the cube away with his tongue. I could not believe how careful and gentle this giant, it was so amazing for a wild animal to behave like that. Bisions are so amazing creatures, no wonder the north american Indians treasured them so highly in their cultures. Thanks again for sharing Ariel. dd
Ariel, the bison that I encounter in that wild life park they were not tame animals at all, they were roaming in this 2,000 acre park just like the bison that you filmed. The only difference between the two yours is free roaming bison and my encounter were bison free roaming inside a 2,000 acre park. Yes I was very nervous with that big bull and what he might have done but ever since that encounter with the calf and that big bull that I will forever remember that gentle giant and calf. dd
This is in a national park and the speed limits are very slow in most of the park as well as most people being there to see wildlife, so they are keeping their eyes open for critters. And there's signs everywhere.
They are actually pretty good at jumping, you need a 6 foot very sturdy fence if you actually want to contain them. Plus they can easily push most things over, including this fence if they felt like it. ;)
I would never had known a bison could leap like that, watched many in Alberta only ever seen them up on two when fighting. No fences around ethier though lol, awesome.
Bison are actually pretty good at jumping, you need at least a 6 foot very sturdy fence if you actually want to contain bison. Plus they can easily push most things over, including this fence if they felt like it. ;) But some of this crew were being wimps about it that morning. Which is kind of funny because this herd had probably crossed that fence hundreds of times.
What magnificent sentient beings! Do all of them manage to jump Ariel? I wish there where bison friendly gaps on the fences. Thank you for sharing such beauty.
This fence if for some horses. Bison are actually pretty good at jumping, you need a 6 foot very sturdy fence if you actually want to contain bison. Plus they can easily push most things over, including this fence if they felt like it. ;) But some of this crew were being wimps about it that morning. I know. It doesn't look possible, but once you see them do it, they don't really look like the even need any effort to make it happen most of the time.
The internet was definitely lying. They are struggling with this 3ft fence. Just because one bison made it over a 6ft fence one time doesnt mean 'bison can jump 6 feet in the air'. One of them can maybe get their back legs 4 feet off the ground, enough to propel themselves up to grab the 6ft ledge and pull themselves over.

Beautiful beasts! I hope the owner of the Bison we're able to collect them all, if that fence was meant to keep them in. You always catch some amazing footage. Thanks for sharing Ariel!

Ha! Reminds me of when I used to run cattle on grass. I was a feedlot in Nebraska looking at some heifers I want to buy and they had 3 Bison there they were feeding for slaughter. They told me it was always interesting to see where they would be every morning as they liked to jump fences at night. They never left the feed yard, just changed pens.
so gr8 to see bison free roam, ty for sharing !!! this is what I wanted to share with you awhile back, sorry for the delay, it might be helpful for you in winter to also carry wood up to the house. Suncast SF1850 22-Inch Big Scoop Snow Shovel with Wear Strip
They did. This is in a national park and the speed limits are very slow in most of the park as well as most people being there to see wildlife, so they are keeping their eyes open for critters. And there's signs everywhere.
I had considered Bison before I got into cattle.... until the guy told me about there speed and ability to jump a fence. Not as attractive but Herefords are easier. Thanks for the video.
Yeah, plus they can easily push most things over, including this fence if they felt like it. ;) I'm told they need at least a six foot fence, but every bison pen I've seen has been more like 12 feet high.
We have the same background, except I was the youngest of 5 for five years then became the middle child when another brother and sister came along. ♡♡♡
They did. They are actually pretty good at jumping, you need a 6 foot very sturdy fence if you actually want to contain them. Plus they can easily push most things over, including this fence if they felt like it. ;)
The fast-moving traffic is a threat to these beautiful creatures. The local authorities should post a speed limit of 25 mph. and also a sign that says "Slow, Buffalo Crossing." Violators should be fined. Thanks, Ariel for this video. How else would we have been able to witness this stirring scene. God bless you. You are a gem.
This is in a national park and the speed limits are very slow in most of the park as well as most people being there to see wildlife, so they are keeping their eyes open for critters. And there's signs everywhere.
Ron Smith, if anyone doesn't care enough to slow down, they will learn what it's like to hit a buffalo...it will take a while for the ER doctors to remove the windshield particles from their face. I knew someone who hit a deer in Pa. and he had stitches in his forehead, too many to count.
Not so graceful as a gazelle, and I think I would call some of that climbing rather than jumping. Some of them were executing a 2-part jump: first their front legs, then their back legs. But hey! At about a ton when grown, they're tens of times heavier than most gazelles, and as long as they clear the bar, I think the I.O.C. would qualify the jump.
That's precisely why I'm here 😄 Was looking up if people drink bison milk and the article mentioned them jumping '6 feet in the air' which has clearly been exaggerated lol

Fy Nyth So wonderful that you take in all around you and enjoy the wildlife...and for sharing it with us...I so enjoy the close up look through your eyes.
Bison are so huge , it's a real surprise when they display that kind of agility! Nice catch Ariel!

Very cool. Imagine back in the day when they roamed freely by the millions. Must have been a sight. Thanks Ariel.
That would have been pretty amazing to see.
Yeah... would've made for some real nice target practice! Hard to blame 'em! 😏
What a dick. Not everything in nature should be marveled at simply because itd make good hunting. Why cant the beauty of nature be the focus for once
Fun video . I've been raising bison for over 35 years and have seen them jump and clear higher fences than that, I've also seen them plow right through them as well. They are beautiful and majestic animals. thanks for sharing.
Bison are majestic animals. Thanks for the smile this morning

Ah yes, the near threatened American Bison should teach us 7,800,000,000 humans how to survive
@@hehehehaw1682 Humans with guns pushed the American Bison to that point.. Have some *Respect*
They are such beautiful animals.thanks
It's amazing how diverse the wildlife is in our country. I've never seen a wild bison but there they seem to be commonplace. Thank you for sharing this video!
They look so wonderful, one can only imagine the sight off herds of them roaming free😃😃😃😃
Hey that was cool Ariel !
Great shots ! Thumbs up. ENJOY... THE SIMPLE LIFE
This camera quality is better than my eyesight.
Why does the bison jump the fence?
To get to the other side. Wait...Wait.....I know it is not funny. But it applies in this case.
Love your down home simplicity and honesty.
Thank you for sharing your beautiful wildlife!
How awesome that you get to see all that wildlife up close.
WOW...Nice catch! I remember hikeing on the north end of the refuge some years ago and saw bison crossing a creek there. Amazing creatures!
That fence sure caused a lot of thinking!
The one who struggled looked around saying I hope no one saw that.
Yeah there was no good reason for him to not clear that, so I think he was a bit embarrassed. ;)
Thank you Ariel for taking the time and share with the rest of the world. Such magnificent animals. That sounds like a pretty amazing experience. I'd sure wouldn't want to try it with wild bison like these, but that would be fun to experience. :)

What a magnificent head on those animals. Loved the one rocking his head up and down. Traffic made me nervous tho.

Beautiful: They're doing something that's not in the realm of the natural for them to do. Love it!
They are actually pretty good at jumping, you need a 6 foot very sturdy fence if you actually want to contain them. Plus they can easily push most things over, including this fence if they felt like it. ;)
Beautiful animals!
Love you bison and I wish one day I will live in a field so I can see all the beautiful animals.
My little girl is watching your videos with me and she loves them!!!
So awesome to see raw nature!!!
Amazing creatures. Thanks for sharing another great video Ariel! Keep’em coming please!! 😊
Beautiful video. Thank you Aerial.
The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence!
Next the balance beam!
Cool shots
Nice
I love the buffalo and Wyoming.
I hope the people speeding up that road slow down when they see the animals about to cross.
This is in a national park, so most people are very much on the lookout for wildlife. :)
Beautiful!
@2:41 it looks at you and says...."ha, I got it!" LOL Thanks for sharing!
On The Way To Life I thought he was saying “don’t post that” sheepishly because his hind legs were embarrassingly stuck at first.
that IS possible! he worked hard for it though...lol!
On The Way To Life made me laugh either way.😂
awesome footage.thanks!
Thanks for sharing. I would never have guessed that these beautiful animals would be so agile. Keep up your great work I really appreciate!
Wow cool😉
I would never had known a bison could leap like that, watched many in Alberta only ever seen them up on two when fighting. No fences around ethier though lol, awesome.
So peaceful...
I think the first one had turned back to the others and said, "what one Bison can do, another can do."

Really great video! I've never seen bison jump a fence before, so what a treat. Course I live in AZ, not many bison around here to watch.
Seem to have figured out the low spots. For those who think animals are dumb, think again. Nice job!

First they scratch, then it's a toss up if they want to tare the fence down or jump it.
I named that one having the most trouble getting over the fence. Dinner... 😜

At about 2:40 the little fella glanced at you... possibly to see if you caught the undignified crossing on camera.

Cars were moving pretty fast and they were so close to road, hope they all made it over safely.
They did. This is in a national park and the speed limits are very slow in most of the park as well as most people being there to see wildlife, so they are keeping their eyes open for critters. And there's signs everywhere.
Anyone else here to fact check if bison can jump 6ft? 😂
They're pretty amazing animals!
Yup!! And now I know that they cant!! climbing over a 6ft fence does not = jumping 6 feet in the air.
I had considered Bison before I got into cattle.... until the guy told me about there speed and ability to jump a fence. Not as attractive but Herefords are easier. Thanks for the video.

Bisonte es un espíritu libre
Absolutely stunning beasts. Is that fence meant to keep the Bison in? Hopefully they get knocked down by passing cars.
No, the fence is for some horses. The bison are wild and come and go as they please.
Morning exercise, just to start a healthy day! Are they wild or just rebellious?
Wild. The fence is for horses, the bison go where they please.
Flying Bison don't even need a running start huh
Very cool. I guess they just roam around. Do they belong to anyone? We have a Bison Ranch here in Texas where I live.
Yes these are wild and roam as they please. They are in a national park, but are free to wonder out of it if they want.
It's amazing how agile bison are even though they weigh several tons
Intriguing video. Did all the bison make it over? Best
They did. They are actually pretty good at jumping, you need a 6 foot very sturdy fence if you actually want to contain them. Plus they can easily push most things over, including this fence if they felt like it. ;)
Fy Nyth --I saw bison could knock down that fence. Closest I ever got to a buffalo was 20 feet on open range...I got the pix. And scadaddled. Best
Fence? Pffft, hold my beer.

I thought a deer was bad news. Some of that traffic sounded pretty fast.
thanx for posting

What is the use of this kind of fence except to be a minor inconvenience?
Were they supposed to stay in or out of this fence?😂
Neither actually. They are wild, the fence is there for some horses, but the bison come and go as they please. :)
No way! Bison are agile enough to jump a fence a horse can’t manage to get over?! Funny!😂
Where is the wall builder when you need him?
My thoroughbred horse took out a metal gate in one second, trashing it and letting 30 other horses out, and these bison can't dislodge a wooded pole?
Oh they could! I have no idea how they decide when to jump something and when to just plow through it. :)
Anyone else look up bison jumping 6 feet
That's precisely why I'm here 😄 Was looking up if people drink bison milk and the article mentioned them jumping '6 feet in the air' which has clearly been exaggerated lol
Poor things, some of them need a running start to clear that fence.

Your up early?
With a slow internet connection, videos often take 5-18 hours to upload, so sometimes they finish while I'm sleeping... :)
I just read that bison can jump 6ft high. I’m a little skeptical after watching this video.
