  • Tenor Gioacchino Lauro Li Vigni, better known as (Jack), a skilled and heartfelt performer, was trained by his father, celebrated tenor Salvatore Li Vigni, and coached by extraordinary singers like Carlo Bergonzi, Franco Corelli, Arrigo Pola, and most recently - Salvatore Fisichella. Mr. Li Vigni is a graduate of the Academy of Vocal Arts and has performed internationally, including at the Metropolitan Opera of New York, Frankfurt Oper, Beijing Opera, and many others.
    Jack is a voice instructor for the prestigious Jette Parker Young Artists Program at Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London and is also on faculty at Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia and Brooklyn College CUNY. He has endeavored to create a strong platform for the development of young artists with Mediterranean Opera Studio & Festival in Sicily, which he founded and of which he is the General Director. Several of his students are renowned tenors who perform regularly at the Metropolitan Opera House and other celebrated theaters throughout the world. His students have been recent winners and finalists of major competitions like Operalia, Cardiff Singer of the World, and the Francisco Viñas, as well as being part of several prestigious young artists programs.
    It is a pleasure to welcome Jack Li Vigni as our Master Class presenter this year.
    Participants:
    Chris McGee, tenor
    Christopher McGee is a 34 year old tenor who has been studying voice formally for less than two years. Chris participated in musical theater at Monsignor Bonner High School in Drexel Hill, where he found a love for singing and theater. Opera was a hobby and a love for many years but it wasn’t until a friend asked him to sing at his wedding that Chris, with the advice of his wife, decided to pursue operatic voice lessons. Chris is truly grateful to be able to tackle the arias he has been listening to since he first fell in love with the art form so many years ago.
    Samual Keeler (Washington, D.C.), tenor, has been hailed for his “rich tenor,” (Culpepper Times) “strong vocals and crisp, clear delivery” (DC Theatre Scene). He recently appeared on stage in concert alongside Michael Spyres as part of the Guild Hall/Bel Canto Boot Camp Resident Artist Series and as Edgardo in Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor with Opera D’Oro. He keeps a regular performance schedule as a soloist in the greater Philadelphia region. This summer he will be making his debut as Ramiro in Rossini’s La Cenerentola as well reprisals of Alfredo in La Traviata, Tamino in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte, and Edgardo in Lucia di Lammermoor.
    Ben Pederson, tenor
    17 year old student of Lisa Willson DeNolfo and The Juilliard School Pre-College program, Ben will start this year as a full time undergraduate at Juilliard.

    I would urge all the arm chair voice teachers here in the comments to kindly remember that this is a learning environment. The first singer, for someone who has only been studying operatic singing for two years, is doing very well. Anyone with a voice teaching bone in their body would be able to hear a voice in there that could be capable of making great sound given more training. It takes a lot of guts to approach learning something like this as an adult and to put yourself out to be criticized by the public for simply trying to become better.

    The first singer has a beautiful voice - he has good breath support but hasn’t learned breath control yet. Appogio. It will happen overnight. His vowels and articulation are good. I don’t know why ppl are critical- he is really good for 2 yrs learning. If it was easy everyone would sing like Pavarotti. It isn’t easy and it isn’t quick.

      @@paulryanarcolascountertenor @paulryanarcolascountertenor Sure. And thanks for watching and following. // Based on this video: 1. He makes students who obviously are beginners (1-2 years of study) pay a lot of money to participate in a class where they don't belong; 2. He says nothing useful, quite the contrary: there is no tangible improvement; 3. He makes himself look good teaching students who know very little (fraud alert); 4. He pretends to be Italian while he really isn't (fraud alert) // Based on what I've been told by people I trust: 4. He is a cruel person who tries to hurt people when he doesn't like them. // Based on common knowledge: 5. He ruined many a singers' voice. //
      Yet, he successfully continues to sell his snake-oil knowledge. Where are his great students?

    • @o.p.9413
      @o.p.9413 5 месяцев назад +4

      A useless teacher?!? Come on, I love your content, but I would strongly disagree with this. Mr LiVigni is one of the few teachers in the world who is truly competent in the Italian teaching tradition, as is very clearly evident if you were to watch the countless hours of him talking about the subject. His recorded lesson on RUclips that he took with Salvatore Fisichella (who I know you know is one of the last truly great Italianate tenors in the world) is fascinating, and he still goes to Fisichella as his primary teacher. Not to mention his most recent videos on RUclips, which are pearls of wisdom in a time filled with bad vocal pedagogy. Masterclasses are inherently poor ways of teaching anything and come across as sales pitches because there is practically nothing you can actually change with a singer in such a short amount of time. If anything, you should get angry at the inherent problems with masterclasses. Either way, please do some more research on Jack LiVigni. I’m in a similar boat with you in terms of being generally disillusioned with modern voice teaching, and he is such a breath of fresh air.

      Another one of these….tension for miles. Fix the jaw and tongue tension Jack! Col fiato is all I hear from everyone in this video. Sul fiato refers to a proper onset where the voice is immediate and vibrant right out of the gate with no waste of air. This means mentally directing the vowel into the body where the air is expelled in an opposing direction at onset. This requires mental preparation and coordination of your body. Col fiato is when it’s not sul fiato. In col fiato the direction of the vowel flows with the direction of the air instead of opposing it. Col fiato voices are shallow,bright, reedy and spread. There’s your free lesson.
