Every time I watch one of your videos I feel like I’m in class watching a lecture😂but it’s the most fascinating lecture out there. Super fun to watch, y’all are incredibly knowledgeable
Ron is a really good choice for these videos. He comes across really well and does that little bit of research himself which resonates with many viewers. Keep the videos coming and good job.
Sorry, I missed the Premier showing Guys, I was just taking a Bandit nap. Wow, Ronnie Rocks!!!! When I Grow up I want to be like Rocket Ronnie.......Even though I'm older than Ronnie is! As much as we love our Princess, it's easier for us Oldies to relate the Ronnie. Please thank him for having the Balls (Cut or otherwise) to video his Fitting session and allowing us to share the Journey with him!
Synchronised Power Napping is the Future! LOL I finished my Cardiac Rehab Program yesterday, so like the DH that I am I decided to have an extended Lunchtime celebration! Yes, Ian; I think that Spring is definitely in the air, but Whisker would have to shave.....It has been my lifetime Rule never to Kiss anyone with more whiskers than I have!
This is a PERFECT example of how a fitters knowledgebase is vital when fitting a player. Granted, Ian knows the Ron well, due to their years of activity with each other; yet it was through the fitting process in seeing a player performance, which opened up door in "dial-in" an iron, shaft, and BALL combination, in order to achieve positive results. That said, I do feel that a 5-year projection club set, given the player's age, is a bold task. At 52 (my age), my swing speed, physical capability, and endurance is not what it was when I was in my mid to late '40; not to mention the great enhancement within the golf manufacturing industry. Looking forward to future video in how this fitting goes. Single digit handicap is right around the corner for you Ron. Thank you TXG for bringing a player of Ron's skill level for us to watch. Cheers....
With the hundreds of thousands of golf videos out there, it's nice to see one with an "average," somewhat flawed swing (like mine!). Most of the videos out there are golf pros hitting the ball a mile down range with a tour-style swing. Those don't give many of us much value. Big thanks to Ron for participating--keep grinding!
Ron, thanks for jumping in front of the camera for us. To your point many of us relate to you. In fact... I play the Mizuno MP-18 MMC myself with the Cut Blue ball. I may not shoot the ball miles but dispersion has kept me on the score card. Enjoy. Would love to see a check in some time. Thanks as always guys.
I'm a 8.6 handicaper and I'm gaming a set of Mizuno jpx919 tour. I've never think about playing a blade set until I tried them at the store and it performed great and I didn't expect that. One thing I knew is you have to feel comfortable, you have to like the club you are playing and it makes you feel to go out to the course everyday, whether its a blade or not blade. And shaft option is also an important factor as well. Just play whatever you comfortable with and performs well. Love your contents TXG, hopefully get fitting with you guys somedays. :)
1st of all, great video for getting fitted...When I got fitted, I told the fitter, do not tell me what iron club I'm going to hit..Ist started with a 7 iron, but not knowing manufacture...He new I was looking for a hight ball flight.. after all the numbers were calculated and all said and done, I ended up with Muzuno H4.....I think not knowing is better when getting fitted....PS.. I hate to say it, for a 11 or 12 Handicapier, I think a golfer needs to be honest with himself, on what his skills really are....If I'm wrong, I apologized, but just didnt see it in his fitting Secession
One of the benefits of fitting is seeing your tendencies, path, face angle etc. It’s very useful information to walk away with and very helpful when you get your nicely fitted clubs on the range. Kudo’s to Ron for doing this...I think he’s going to be breaking 80 a lot this season.
Very interesting to see how analytical Ron is. I went the complete opposite and asked my fitter to tell me nothing about the clubs i tried so my ideas couldn't influence me. Different but it works for Ron and what a great improvement!
Very well might be your best video yet guys. Part of that is because of how much has been learned from watching previous videos and having context for this much more relatable fitting experience. Keep up the great content! Thanks.
So appreciative of this video. I'm not quite as old as Ron (I'm 56), but have been seeing my age related swing changes have an effect on my game over the last couple years. I've been playing the JPX 900 Forged the last two seasons thinking that would be my last "player" type set. I'm also an 11 handicap working to get to single figures and see hope for me staying in this type of club for several more years yet! Thanks so much for asking Ron to do this video and sharing his experience with us! What great work you and your team do!
I have never been fitted for clubs, so this video was an eye opener for me! I am 68 years young and am still learning! I play every day (weather permitting in Scotland) and I feel I am hitting the ball longer and it is not with speed, but slowing the swing down/relaxing instead at thrashing at the ball in my younger day's! But I will take a visit to be fitted for clubs! Many thanks!
This is the holy grail! The single best video you've done so far. Much more in matching with my skill levels. Although I'm a 6-7 hdcp I am a slower swinger & a picker a fitting so much more in common with me. Really really enjoyed it. Thx
First video I'm seeing from you guys and your thought process and insight is top-notch - instant subscriber. As a 5 handicap trying to get back down to 1-2 this year and going through a full fitting in about a month to completely rebuild my set, this couldn't have been more helpful.
Thanks Ron, appreciate you taking your time to look after these two. Perfecto TXG can’t wait until we meet another member of assembled team! 👍 Gotta watch these over and over I am afraid the absorption isn’t quite what used to be for me.
Great addition to the team, as Ron begins to represent more of us. Your knowledge and patience to understand your customer is second to no one. Truly the best channel for golf. Ian you knowledge is amazing, however your ability to relate to your students and explain in a way that everyone understand is indeed special. Thank you both for some great lessons and reviews.
Great fitting with Ron. Ron is my age, my swing speed and same fitness level. I have been through the mill with clubs and have finally been fitted and feel really great with my set for distance but especially for accuracy, I ended up with a club that I never expected to and it is also Mizuno. Hat off to Ron for stepping up and letting me see someone like me in the true fitting process.
I have an MP18 MB 5 to P/W, I have them with Nippon Modus 3 105, the balance, small head, thin top line really helps me focus and for some reason, I just hit them well. I have them 2 flat and 2 strong. Every one I heard review them sold them as irons for pro’s or low handicap players, that’s not my experience. When I was fitted I warmed up with an Epon MB 6 iron and it just worked.
DB George it does increase the off set but to be honest it’s not as bad as I was expecting. I am going for a gapping session the week after next to get them properly dialed in so the lofts may weaken a bit, but from hitting them so far I am very pleased, good luck with the SC’s
Top drawer stuff boys! I found the thinner sole idea work very well for myself by chance, I wish one of the many fittings I have had in the past this was brought up by a fitter. It would have saved me a lot of money and given me more confidence in the fitting process. There is getting custom fit then there are you guys! The best of the best
Great video guys, i am 60 years old myself and am like your student in that a higher ball flight i believe will make a significant difference to my overall game, nice to see all the different options that are available. Thanks Tony
Ummm he is a high handicapper. Maybe if he's playing out of his skin that day he might be a mid handicapper. Based on his misses I'd say he's probably a mid 90s guy
This was really fascinating, and I thought it was going to be too long when I saw the time on it. Hats off to Ron for great questions that added a LOT to the interest level I thought. Top stuff 👍
As another 'senior' and reasonably fit, play all year around, 120+ rounds a year, at a recent club fitting I found that the fitting process of hitting as many ball in a session as I would in a round, I tended to feel a little tired, especially as I had back surgery at the beginning of last year. Keep up the good, interesting vlogs.
Had a similar fitting at Sandringham last year, had been off 9-10 for years, not making headway, had an hour and a half fitting, hit around 120+ balls, returning from knee surgery and now down to 7 and playing consistently to it. I accept the point that it can be tiring hitting that many balls in the time you would take to play a round .
Amazing how this particular fellow hit this particular club so much better than he did with any of the other clubs which REALLY tells us all we need to know about custom fitting. Damn, I’ve GOT to get some custom fit clubs!
If I could like this video twice, I would. Love your vids, but this takes it from complete theoretical to practical application. Brings it all home and gives a guy like me some hope.
Ron and I are the same age with the same handicap and similar swing speed. It's nice to see what Ian has done for Ron. This is why I love this channel. I too have goals to get back to single digit handicap. Great job Ian and Ron.
Very nice fitting session, I take my hat to Ronnie, what a great guy he is! I didn't try the MP18 MMC yet, but I have hope in doing so shortly since I want to go back to play golf again. I did play Mizuno irons with traditional loft and these seem to be a good deal between distance and spin, I presume they feel nice too (no need to be super soft for me anyway). You guys are good! I wish I could travel to your place and get fitted, it is a long way from Argentina unfortunately. Cheers!
Love this video. Can very much relate to Ron. Knowledgeable, dedicated and passionate in wanting to improve his game. Similar to my own fitting with TXG. The gold standard for club fitting and purchase. Love my Mizuno's
It is nice to have a person that actually has a particular issue rather than try to simulate it by dialing it down. However, I do hope Matt doesn’t take our comments the wrong way and that he doesn’t show off his distance anymore.
It's always nice watching the low handicappers get fit, but I really enjoy watching the Mid to High Handicappers. I feel like you really get to see the benefit of a fitting. Would love to see you guys fit a high handicapper.
Love this video. Ron is easier to relate to as a golfer and a fitting client than Matt (sorry Matt!). And Ron is a great sport to have this process published on RUclips. More of this content please! Dave.
You guys are so far ahead when it comes to these videos. Unbelievable detail, incredible knowledge. This is tour bus stuff. Different class honestly. Glued to every minute. I am as close to Ron as you can get. 15 handicap on a tough links course that is probably worth 2 shots elsewhere. Couple of years younger. Similar build. Currently on Mizuno JPX 900 HM irons. Fabulous work guys.
Here in Hawaii , loving the work you do !!! We’re definetlt brining the boys up to Canada for full bag fittings and some golf as well .... LOVE THIS CHANNEL !!! learning so much . Thank you !!!
Really looking forward to this. You've given us a great cross-section of players with different abilities and dynamics. Can't wait to eat lunch at my desk w/ my headphones in.🤓
Love all the work that you guys do started watching around April when i started back playing for the first time since playing high school 14 years ago loving the game again and all the information you guys put out there is awesome!
Just wanted to thank you guys for your video on the lie board. Coming from AP2's at 2 upright based on lie board I upgraded to Srixon Z785 yesterday and told my pro to leave them standard. WOW what a difference. Was MUCH easier to keep the ball online, hit draws/fades. Lipped out a 5 iron from 188 for double eagle on my 2nd hole of the day! Being able to trust that it won't start left and go further left freed up my swing, was able to be more aggressive and go pin seeking when I could. Thanks for all your help!
Another great video...and as you mentioned at the end of the video the biggest difference was accuracy , more spin and beside that for me Ron looked very comfortabele with the MMC right from the start.
Great video! Now in my upper 30’s with 10 year old clubs, I am in the process of trying to get an updated set of clubs and trying to hold on to swing speed as much as possible.
Good video. The comments you made in this video, and the one about the lie board, were an eye opener for me. Going by ball flight is a much better option. It has freed me up to just go with flatter lies and forget about wondering why I can't do a lie fitting and get normal results.
Thanks that was Qu l looking to getting fitting after the shutdown and this has helped me to knowing what I'm looking for and what questions to ask. I'm in the same age bracket and it's good to see that it worth going to a fitting. Thanks again 😃😃
Last May I got fitted for the JPX 900 Forged and I absolutely love them. Will be hitting them today on the simulator with a buddy of mine as we practice for the opening season here in a week and a half.
I had a similar fitting experience at club champion in Washington, and ended up with Miura cb-2008 irons with rifle 5.5 shafts. I am extremely glad I got a proper fitting
at that many rounds per year, do you feel like a coach helps you that much? I'm curious about how much improvement you could attain without a coach playing that many rounds.
This may have been two years ago but I've only just seen it. Really useful video as I am thinking of changing my very old Miz MX23 this year. Plenty here for me to take to a fitting.
Chiming in late, but this was a really nice video to get some insight to fittings. Never been truly fitted but I am certainly due. Get me a flight from Vancouver to T.O., and I'm there!
I enjoyed this. I am a guy who doesn’t hit the ball long. I had major surgery and am Not long off the tee. So I can relate more with this then at of Matt’s 320+ yard drives. I hope you get more people with similar games like mine on the show
This video is great! It’s would be awesome to have a video of you guys fitting 2 or 3 mid handicappers. My biggest thing of not getting fitted is - “My swing isn’t consistent enough for a fitting.” Thanks for the content fellas!
Dang, Ron has is own GC Quad? Great fitting video. I think most fitters I have been around would have looked at his swing and not put an MP in his hand. Kudos, Ian.
Guys I love these videos! I'm on a low budget - but now I'm reconsidering an investment in a fitting session and going for new clubs - so tough to decide for a weekend warrior such as me who really only plays 9 holes a week, sometimes 9 holes Saturday and 9 on Sunday. Incredible how the different shafts had such an impact once you decided on the Mizuno club head! Love these videos!
I'm just 60 yrs old 14 h/c and booked a fitting for shafts ( graphite I'm thinking ) in a couple of weeks because I'm at my max I feel to get the tt r3oo steels working nowerdays... with as you said a view to the next 5-7 years , enjoyed the content 👍⛳
I love the insight towards the end about stopping the iron set at 6 iron. I’ve got the Mizuno MMC’s in my bag and tried the Fli-Hi 5 iron and found that I’m more consistent with my Hogan VKTR 25* hybrid.
Great video I'm 71 similar swing speed so relatable I'd like to see some comments and talk about the Ron's tendency to have a way tow down strike. Logic would say go more upright which I know is wrong. Can't wait to see the rest of Ron's fit. Cheers from NorCal
Gosh I'm a couple years late on this video but just gotta say I love Ron. What a cool guy. Just really seems to love everything about what's going on and is truly in the moment, a class act. Would be a real treat to get out for 18 holes with him and just chat about golf
Great video. Made me finally subscribe because as much as I enjoy your content I couldn’t relate or count on it with your swing speeds and distances. I can relate to an 11 hdcp with a similar swing speed and desired iron specs to mine. Keep up the great work.
It is NOT about the manufacture, it is about what Works best for the player through the fitting process. Over the past few years, the quilty of golf irons, driver, hybrids, shafts, and balls have gone up greatly; moreover, in 2019 the bar has been taken even higher.
I hit JPX 900 and 900 forged irons when I was getting fit for my last set of irons. Something about them felt off. As soon as I started hitting my Ping i200s, I knew I would order them. Mizuno makes great irons but they don't work for everybody.
Really enjoying your videos particularly club fitting for mid to high handicappers. Looking at updating my 7 year old Taylormade SLDR clubs and am surprised by how much benefit can be gained by the right set up and club choice
*Note to Ron*: I've got old Mizunos (T-Zoid Pro) and love them. My plan is to not replace them. I know at some point I will. I've hit several irons among them the Titleist MB's and the Mizuno MP 18's. The fitter started me out with the SC and then moved me to the MB's. I honestly couldn't tell the difference. I felt like you, I'm not worthy, of the Mizuno MP 18. The fitter, who did not get paid commission, said that if you're comfortable hitting them and they work for you, then go for it. I can say from experience that there's nothing that feels like a Mizuno. Thanks, Ron, for being will to show your swing to the rest of us. It's also good to know that we here in Canada finally have a quality fitter at home. I love listening to the conversation of a regular guy who doesn't necessarily use the right terms and isn't aware of all the technical aspects of the golf swing, as most of us aren't. I've had a question brewing for some time which I need to have addressed for my own peace of mind. At several points you (Ian) talk with Ron about the sole width which influences turf interaction. Yes, that's true, there's no doubt. But, if the sole purpose of the iron is to hit the ball first then what does it matter if it's a knife or a shovel? In the past couple of years, I have remade my swing into a more shallow, slight in to out/neutral, and draw my irons. I've spent winters (live in Wpg where that gives me lots of time) working on strike accuracy. That means hitting the ground after the ball. To my way of thinking, the only place where sole, and grind comes into play) is important is with higher lofted clubs and leading edge height (opening a wedge). Please do keep Ron in your stable. From my humble perspective, with some minor swing changes he could increase distance and strike quality.
Glenn Wiebe sole width is very important for shallow players like Ron, you are right in saying the objective is ball first contact. However the shallow player has to be very careful not to enter the turf to soon as the bottom of their golf swing is closer to the ball. We like angle of attack to be 2-4 degrees down so that low point is way out out ahead of the golf ball. This will minimize heavy strikes. Go to 17.05 in the video where we explain this for a little more clarity. Thanks for watching Glenn!! 👍🏻
I love all of these videos, with the non scratch players... definitely more relatable. Its why I started making golf videos, high handicap players play golf too, and its ok to suck and still have fun. I have a fitting scheduled, curious how it will compare to you guys. Thanks for the videos.
Great Video gentlemen. Thank you Ron. I can relate as I’m also a mid HC golfer. I wish TXG was In Melbourne so that I can get the same fitting experience.
The professionalism, the knowledge, the respect for others and the game. Unmatched.
Great work Ian

Thanks Kevin!
Can't wait to eat lunch at my desk w/ my headphones in.🤓
Wow, what a great video! I wish I was a good enough player to get a fitting from you guys. A+ content. I learned a ton.
Great to have Matty back !!, you don’t break up Johnny Carson and Ed McMahon.
Ron great job
Congrats on your new Mizuno's Ron. ABSOLUTELY love mine. Great video as always from TXG.
Thank you guys... your expertise with examples close to us mortals is perfect combo...
Awesome job Ian and Ronnie. I'm gaming the 919 forged after my fit back in December, though regrettably not at txg. Can't beat the feel of the Mizunos
Love all the work that you guys do started watching around April when i started back playing for the first time since playing high school 14 years ago loving the game again and all the information you guys put out there is awesome!
I'm late to this party, but wow Ian certainly knows his onions (as we say in Britain!). Supreme knowledge.
You're welcome Jacob!!
Top Quality A+ again. Definitely found the right combination for him without doubt
Brilliant session guys. I play M5 irons and standard project shafts, now I love the head but now I think I need to be fitted for the shaft.
Good video. The comments you made in this video, and the one about the lie board, were an eye opener for me. Going by ball flight is a much better option. It has freed me up to just go with flatter lies and forget about wondering why I can't do a lie fitting and get normal results.
that guy looks young and in shape for a 64 years old guy, no wonder why he has improved his game a lot since retirement
Thanks that was Qu l looking to getting fitting after the shutdown and this has helped me to knowing what I'm looking for and what questions to ask. I'm in the same age bracket and it's good to see that it worth going to a fitting. Thanks again 😃😃
Just been fitted for Mizuno JPX919 Forged and they are absolutely superb. Love the look, feel, flight and dispersion. Mighty Mizuno!
Last May I got fitted for the JPX 900 Forged and I absolutely love them. Will be hitting them today on the simulator with a buddy of mine as we practice for the opening season here in a week and a half.
David, did you try the MP MMC's by chance ?
great video Ian and Matt.....one of your very best, keep up the good work. Ron
Ron Langfus Thank Ron. 👍🏻
I had a similar fitting experience at club champion in Washington, and ended up with Miura cb-2008 irons with rifle 5.5 shafts. I am extremely glad I got a proper fitting
This me, I'm 67 years old. 9 hc and I play 250 rounds a year. I have a coach and take lesson each week. Tech geek and avid TXG fan.
bob taylor love having you with us Bob!! Thanks for watching!! 👍🏻
at that many rounds per year, do you feel like a coach helps you that much? I'm curious about how much improvement you could attain without a coach playing that many rounds.
Great video - best of luck Ron: you are an example to all of us.
I had major surgery and am
Not long off the tee. So I can relate more with this then at of Matt’s 320+ yard drives. I hope you get more people with similar games like mine on the show
I watch with great interest, Ron and I are similar in many ways and I’m keen to get my handicap down. Good luck Ron.
This was very informative for a 70 yr old, 13 handicapper.
This video is great! It’s would be awesome to have a video of you guys fitting 2 or 3 mid handicappers. My biggest thing of not getting fitted is - “My swing isn’t consistent enough for a fitting.”
Thanks for the content fellas!
Dang, Ron has is own GC Quad? Great fitting video. I think most fitters I have been around would have looked at his swing and not put an MP in his hand. Kudos, Ian.
ron's got that PAPER
Guys I love these videos! I'm on a low budget - but now I'm reconsidering an investment in a fitting session and going for new clubs - so tough to decide for a weekend warrior such as me who really only plays 9 holes a week, sometimes 9 holes Saturday and 9 on Sunday. Incredible how the different shafts had such an impact once you decided on the Mizuno club head! Love these videos!
Wow great session. Ronnie was great. Thank you, everyone. Very helpful.
really terrific video, finally convinced me to go and get fit.
Amazing session, really enjoyed. Can't wait to see more
I love the insight towards the end about stopping the iron set at 6 iron.
New to the channel, a lot of great value on this clip.
Thank you gents.
Gosh I'm a couple years late on this video but just gotta say I love Ron. What a cool guy. Just really seems to love everything about what's going on and is truly in the moment, a class act.
Would be a real treat to get out for 18 holes with him and just chat about golf
Thank you for addressing the needs of your senior audience. My similarities with Ron are astonishing.
I rewatched this and just want to see more mid handicap fitting videos.
Great video. Made me finally subscribe because as much as I enjoy your content I couldn’t relate or count on it with your swing speeds and distances. I can relate to an 11 hdcp with a similar swing speed and desired iron specs to mine. Keep up the great work.
You all should be playing mizuno! The best Iron manufacturer!
It is NOT about the manufacture, it is about what Works best for the player through the fitting process. Over the past few years, the quilty of golf irons, driver, hybrids, shafts, and balls have gone up greatly; moreover, in 2019 the bar has been taken even higher.
Thanks for that. Lol I thought it was obvious but that was my completely BIASED opinion-In other words I was being facetious. Haha 🙄😜
I hit JPX 900 and 900 forged irons when I was getting fit for my last set of irons. Something about them felt off. As soon as I started hitting my Ping i200s, I knew I would order them. Mizuno makes great irons but they don't work for everybody.
Thanks fellas, great addition to an already fantastic informative channel.
Fantastic as always.......
Really enjoying your videos particularly club fitting for mid to high handicappers. Looking at updating my 7 year old Taylormade SLDR clubs and am surprised by how much benefit can be gained by the right set up and club choice
excellent fitting. now I know why I love the srixon Z5 series its because I have a steep angle of attack! makes total sense... good job gents!
Great video gents. Just need to fly over from Scotland 🏴
Great information. This relates to me
*Note to Ron*: I've got old Mizunos (T-Zoid Pro) and love them.
Awesome vid guys. As a 6 hcp, I'm playing Mizuno MP59 and I hit a 6 iron 170, I'm even seeing more relevance to my game here. Cheers
love the mid handicap fitting Ron.
I love all of these videos, with the non scratch players... definitely more relatable. Its why I started making golf videos, high handicap players play golf too, and its ok to suck and still have fun. I have a fitting scheduled, curious how it will compare to you guys. Thanks for the videos.
Love your videos!! You should be a model for all fitters... Huge kudos to you both..
Great video, looking forward to Ron's bag fitting.
Great Video gentlemen. Thank you Ron. I can relate as I’m also a mid HC golfer. I wish TXG was In Melbourne so that I can get the same fitting experience.
Great stuff and great Ronnie as well - wow! Thanks!
