- July 2nd marked the first day season passholders could come out to Kings Island to experience their latest and greatest creation, Orion. Despite the reservation system and limited capacity, Orion drew very heavy crowds. At one point, it had over a 4 hour line. This is our experience as we ventured out to the park to go experience this brand new roller coaster!

Saw that article he did in Washington Post about Steel Vengeance, cited it in a speech for class lol. His article was titled something like "One of the worst coasters is about to become the best." Idk if CS has done more articles for major publications but would be cool to see.

The theming for this ride is probably the most descent I’ve ever seen for a giga coaster. Props to Kings Island for theming this ride so well!

I feel like people hate on Orion too much. It looks really good. Far above my current level (my biggest coaster is Megafobia currently) but it looks amazing

HR I rode it yesterday, and I can confirm that it is amazing. The speed hill gave strong sustained ejector airtime
DJ GAMING yeah. My home park is Oakwood Theme Park in Wales and I'm new to the coaster world so my biggest is Megafobia. I'm kind of scared of the bigger coasters but I do hope I get the courage to ride the gigas because they all look amazing

Orion is my second and favorite Giga so far. The first drop was great, it ran really fast when I got on it around 2 or 3. The wave turn gave me great sideways airtime in the third from back row. The helix felt intense. The speedhill was awesome.
I much prefer it to Millenium Force’s over banks.
I'm going on Sunday to ride Orion! Can't wait!! First time back at Kings Island since 2017!

It's a giga coaster. Apollo's chariot is a hyper, then Orion is a giga. ITS A GIGA, STOP COMPLAINING. ITS STILL A GIGA. YOUR LUCKY THAT A PARK LIKE KINGS ISLAND GETS COASTERS EVERY FEW YEARS. SOME OF US AREN'T AS FORTUNATE.

I saw you in the Orion line but you were significantly behind my group and we wanted to take advantage of the short lines in the morning so we didn’t say hi.
How long did the line get later in the day?
TheSpanishPotato Apparently it was back by Diamondback at one point. I didn’t see it because my party got stuck in a one hour 30 minute Banshee line because someone passed out, but it got pretty nuts. I’m happy we got in early so we had most of our day to do whatever (other than the Banshee thing of course).

Gracias I got a middle row ride and thought it was only ok, but the people who got back row in my group were a lot more happy about it. One put it above Fury, the other put it in his top 3 behind only Fury and Steve. I don’t know if I’d go that far, but I also haven’t gotten back row.
Gracias I think it’s #2 in the state only behind Steel Vengeance. The length is perfect and there’s at least some airtime on every element except for the helix
Did you see the barrel with the name of a substance “XL-200”...being a cedar fair property...I like that Easter egg paying homage to magnum...the coaster that started it all!!

Because it's not a wave turn. That thing was never going to give < 0g because the track doesn't curve away from the train.
I had a terrible visit there yesterday. Orion had a line that extended past Diamondback and all the major rides had at least an hour wait. 3-4 minute dispatches on all there coasters and the food was abominable. wait for 2021 if you are not a local.
I noticed it went far but all the way to Diamondback this crazy that’s at least 5 hours
That is my reaction. I am going to my home park almost every weekend. No way am I going to spend the money and time to travel to these destination parks during 2020.
We went sat 4th and sunday 5th. Sunday evening our group rode orion 6 times in a row. And all coasters had 5 to 15 min wait times. It was great.
Orion is actually a really well themed ride, and the theming for Area 72 looks great as well~ I'm glad that IMAScore did the soundtrack for Area 72, and it sounds so good from videos that I've seen. And Area 72 at night is absolutely amazing as wel :)
This thing slaps! So intense man. Even with the trim I felt like I had mayor float and possible ejector.
You should do a coaster battle between Orion and Leviathan
@@ronscurti1269 I disagree, Steel Dragon and Red Force are at the bottom, Orion and Levi (and Millie) are mid-tier, Fury and i305 being top tier.
My thoughts exactly. Levi is the closest to Orion’s layout and Taylor has ridden both.

Don't be stressed about talking to him. He's usually pretty nice to his fans. Just make sure to maintain social distancing while talking to him.

My sister and I road Orion yesterday (the second day of being opened) and we only had to wait about 50 minutes. They passed out tickets, that gave you a time you could get in. It was essentially a reservation, and some people were very upset because by like 3:00 they ran out of tickets so some people couldn’t get on since there were no more. Basically you have to get there earlier in the day to guarantee you’ll get to ride. However on the Facebook group they said that by 6:00 you no longer needed a ticket, and Orion was walk-on!
That line looked like madness, and I’m so glad they’re doing the reservations now. Especially since it was SO hot that standing in the heat for 50 minutes was a real test of will (especially with the mask on) I think it is dangerous to be standing in the heat for so long, especially with no water, so this is a good move on KI’s part I feel
And when it comes to Orion itself, I thought it was really fun. It’s definitely not my favorite coaster at KI, I still think that either The Beast or Mystic Timbers has that crown. It’s definitely maybe my third favorite or so... would I wait in that heat (it was INSANELY hot yesterday) for 50 minutes for Orion again? Maybe not... I would have to really want to ride it on that particular day. I just didn’t feel it was truly worth the wait. It was fun, but a little disappointing imo. That’s not to say it sucks or anything, I just don’t think it was “amazing”

That is awesome that you got to ride Orion not once but twice I have to ride it someday I rode a bunch of inverted roller coasters at cedar point a few years ago I rode raptor rougarou Magnum xl-200 Gemini cedar Creek mine ride I had a really good time I want to go back there again

Today they did a ticket reservation system. They give you a card to come back later in the day with a 1 hour Window.
It’s better then fury I got a front row ride and that was absolutely awesome.

I saw you yesterday. I was in the Fast Pass lane 6 times. 😁 I coulda hooked you up.
Went on this Sunday and it was incredibly smooth, I feel like they could have made it either a bit slower (diamondback speed) or make the track longer though as it does feel a bit short, awesome coaster though, also, they rethemed that area with it and flight of fear to “Area 72” and added some props and asteroids and such, Kings island once again is doing great work!

I saw you a bit behind me in the line yesterday and I was honestly pretty impressed with myself that I got on before you. I totally thought you would be the first one on. I only got one ride on it in the back row and like you I wasn't super impressed. I decided not to get back in the crazy long line because I knew I would be back on Monday. I think I need to get a ride in the front. Mystic Timbers is definitely still the best ride at KI.

I had the chance to ride it twice at night during the first rider event including once in the back and I thought it was really good!
Yeah same feeling in the line. Flight Deck at CGA Had very slow dispatching and it was the last day before we go to Magic Mountain. Luckily we got a ride and got an extra ride on Gold Striker.

That drop is amazing
I’m in between cp and kings island I really hope this ride is good because kings island deserves it. One of the best parks in the country both in terms of operations and in the running of the park itself. One of the best planet snoopy areas in the chain, wide variety of food, solid customer service, solid collection of flat rides, one of the best wooden coaster lineups in the country, park is always clean kings island finally has their number one coaster to go with their incredible secondary lineup
You should do a coaster fight with Orion, fury, and leviathan
this is my order from best to worst
1. Fury 2. Leviathan 3. Orion
I’ll be there in two weeks and I am so excited! It’ll be my first time going to Kings Island and then I’ll be at Hersheypark the next day. I’m super excited and super pumped! 😊

Oh god those LINES. I'd take my one ride and call it good honestly. I cant deal lol. Plus big steel coasters like diamondback/millennium/probably orion arent necessarily my jam, so I'd run over to get some rides on beast and mystic timbers

The beast I think the front is better, but I've only had night rides. So I dont know how the feeling changes during the day. It also doesnt have much air time so.
Mystic timbers the back is where it's at. It whips you over that first drop and it's insane. Diamondback I'd say front too, even tho I hate the exposed sensation of the cars. But it's such a good view up front.

I'm going to kings island on july 4. I have a gold pass and am so exited. Also in February i went to great wolf lodge and found a secret way into the parking lot during the off season.
I had to wait 4 hours for Orion that day. OOOOF

Rode it in the back row today and it's WAYYY more intense than I thought it would be! Not better than fury or i305, but def better than Levi and Millennium. FANTASTIC ride.
This was my first ever giga so I have no other comparison. But I loved it! Definitely my favorite in the park now

Six Flags Great Adventure has officially delayed the opening of Jersey Devil until the 2021 season. They claim that the pandemic caused the delay, but I think this is more of a Six Flags issue than a pandemic issue. Here's why: The opening of Candymonium got delayed along with Hersheypark's season. Hersheypark, however, was able to open Candymonium along with the park. Same thing with Kings Island. They were able to open Orion along with the park. You were there. And given Six Flags' horrible track record with operating theme parks and attractions, especially with West Coast Racers opening at the end of 2019 instead of the late spring/early summer, as well as other delayed and canceled projects, this is the reason why they stopped construction on Jersey Devil and pushed the opening back a year. I think there is also unknown semi-confirmation that Six Flags Qiddiya has also delayed their opening. I still think it will happen because the Qiddiya group, not Six Flags, will be doing the heavy-lifting. I also think the delayed opening of Aquaman at Six Flags Over Texas is more of a Six Flags problem than a pandemic problem.

i just went to kings island last year and i wanna go again to go on this. i loved diamond back it was rlly smooth and fun but i cried but now i love roller coasters lol.
Real question is how will it be when it's warmed up AND running a full train.
Cedar Fair is smart. They gave us a Giga coaster but not record breaking. This way you will go and visit the other parks they own........

I rode on the second day they opened and thinks its the best ride in the park, That being said i think its too short. If it had 30-45 seconds more it would be one of my top 3 coasters. Still a great addition for Kings island.
