Launching BiasFX before Cubasis is a game changer. If I lauch BFX in cubasis as IAA, I'm hearing straight audio from guitar (withoutFX) with BiasFX (something like two channels). It changes sound on worst. I have same issiue in GarageBand. I'm not precisely sure if it's same situation, but when i launch IAA (BiasFX) in GB sound changes on worst too. Your method with moving recorded audio on another tracks is simple but effective. I have been fighting with this problem for about few days, even I return cubasis to the store, but right now i will consider buy it again.
Hi where’s part one of this instructional video I’ve got an iPad and a guitar and musical instruments but don’t know how you get the guitar coming through the iPad thanks from Jay
I can’t get mine to work. I’ll launch Bias FX make sure it sounds how I want. Then I’ll open cubasis and route the channel thru Bias FX 2 but then the sound cuts out and Bias FX stops working until I power down and start up the iPad again
I actually have a video talking about this called "why i haven't upgraded to cubasis 3" you should definitely go watch that for more of my thoughts, but cubasis 2 is cheaper and more reliable and is only missing a few things that cubasis 3 offers. My only concern telling people to get 2 is that they aren't updating it anymore so eventually you'll need to upgrade or move to different daw.
Hey Joel, I saw a comment where u mentioned u recommend another midi controller over the blue board? Can u tell me what controller & wah pedal you suggest currently? Thanks so much for making these videos, it’s very helpful.
Quick question, would u mind giving a tutorial on how to fix timing/tempo issues for instruments (guitar & bass) on Cubasis 3? Unlike the Cubase there isn’t an audio warp feature. Thanks man, would greatly appreciate it and keep the originals coming!
I should do something like that, you pretty much have to do chop it up manually and move the audio. It’s actually easier to do in c2 bc it shows the lines through the tracks but you can still do it in c3
@@JoelDodge Appreciate the reply dude. A tutorial of sorts would be super beneficial to a ton of new Cubasis 3 users. Rock on buddy and keep the tutorials & songs coming! 🤘🏻
To be honest I don’t think I’m the best person to answer that question because I’m not an audio engineer or anything like that. But my best understanding is that you usually only want to use “send effects” when using things that add to the ambiance of the track like reverbs and delays. So I think using bias fx as an “insert effect” will give you the best results.
Is it possible to use bias FX to record a guitar track using one sound; and then add an additional track that has different settings? For example record one guitar sound as a “rhythm track” and one as “lead”?
So the way that I showed in this video you could record audio from one, then go back into bias fx change the settings and record a different sound for a new track. But if you want an app that will let you put different presets on different tracks and then go back and tweak them after you should check out overloud th-u.
Thanks for the explanation! For some reason I couldn’t get this method to work, but was able to after quitting all the programs and restarting my iPad. This is honestly a game change for me; would not be possible to record decent guitar on my iPad otherwise. Thanks for the vid!
Tonebridge is also nice as an audio unit if you use it to cover solos and select presets of amps and pedal of the song your are covering and recording it on cubasis 3 with backing track.
So I have both Cubasis 2, & 3. Cubasis 3 is giving me lots of problems. IAA is not working reliable with my Focusrite and Bias FX. I use Auria Pro as my main iPad DAW, no issues with that.
I'm definitely not getting cubasis 3 anytime soon I've been hearing that same thing from too many people. I'll have to check out Auria Pro I haven't heard as much about that.
It does not work on cubasis 3 when I shift the part I have recorded on my guitar to the different channel it somehow does not take the effects that I have chosen in my previous channel it's very unfortunate that in a software like cubasis 3 you cannot record two guitar lines on a different channels
@@JoelDodge hi there I have read in one of the forums regarding this. Many people are facing similar problems while using Cubasis 3. I think you can use bias FX 2 on effect Channel then we have to use freeze option which is present in Cubasis 3 Which can help you to save all the effects in single channel then we can use Bias FX 2 on another channel. Still thank you for replying.
I just got Cubasis 3 and can not get AmpliTube, Bias Amp, or Bias FX to sound good using the Inter-App in Routing. It sounds terrible and distorted 😠 Anyone have any good suggestions?
Usually when your signal distorts its because your giving it to much volume at some point in the signal path. If its happening with all your apps its probably your interface input volume is to high. Let me know if that helps.
@Joel Dodge Thank you for the response. AmpliTube and Bias FX sounds good if I use the Inter-App in the Insert Effects, but it sounds horrendous in Routing. There’s clicking, popping, and distortion even with levels down to the very minimum. I feel like it’s a software issue because it sounds fine in Insert Effects. The problem with the Insert effects is the audio is not recorded with the Amp sim sounds. When I add another track to do a lead and change the Amp sim, the other track uses the new amp sound as well 😕 Edit: After I restarted my IPad Pro; I was able to get Bias FX & Bias Amp to work, but Amplitube still sounds the terrible ☹️
@@comment.highlighted I'm not sure what you can do to fix it, but you can freeze the track once you have it how you like it then you won't have to worry about it changing every time. Sorry I couldn't help more.
@Joel Dodge I was thinking about trying out the Freeze option. I wasn’t really sure what Freeze did, but I assumed that’s what it did. I’ll use that for now. Thank you! 🙂
I've used the irig 2 in the past I don't think it will cause problems, but something that happens to me is when I press undo in cubasis 2 it disconnects bias fx and I have to relaunch both apps. I've stared avoiding the undo button until I'm finished recording electric guitar. Let me know if that helps you!
It was helpful. The first solution was to turn off ipad so that everything would work fine again. And I didn't use Undo again. I have these two purchase options: audient evo 4 or focusrite scarlett solo (both at the same price) Do you have any recommendations?
I have never used an evo 4 but it looks like it has good reviews, it also has 2 mic inputs so if you're thinking about recording more than one track at a time looks like it can do that. But both have great reviews so I don't think you can go wrong either way.
@@JoelDodge That is awesome. Now I am trying to figure out a way to record Midi drums played on a ROland V Kit into a drum instrument (Perhaps through inter app aswell) on cubasis =) Any suggestion? I dont need the C drum audio... I am really in need for the midi track of the drums triggering a drum plugin in cubasis
I've only done it once but you can, you just have to send the audio from the iRig or bias fx to a track in beatmaker 3. It's not the easiest because all the tracking in BM3 is really just for sampling. I've always found it easer to record in Cubasis or Garageband then import the audio into BM after.
I started using Cubasis because of the better built in EQ and so I could export stems (export each track separately) but GarageBand is great for recording guitar too. I do plan on making a video about recording electric guitar in GarageBand, hopefully I can do that soon lol.
I use GarageBand with bias fx. You can definitely get great results from it. There is so many great plugins for eq that’s better than what GarageBand offers.
Yes, I’m using it to record my guitar because when I use it and connect it to another interface I can only hear it from one side of the headphones which is it weird I pan it but it won’t let me pan it. my whole thing is messed up, hope you can help me out.
Ok, when you're using it as your interface, the clipping is probably because the signal is too loud, so try turning your amp simulations master volume down and see if that helps. I've never used a helix so you can try any other way that it has to turn the volume down also. When your recording audio from it, what you're describing sounds like one half of a stereo signal (paned signal) so turn your helix output to mono and you should start hearing both sides when you record with one input. I hope that makes since let me know if those solutions work or not. Also using a helix with an iPad sounds like a killer set up thats something I might try in the future.
I just went to listen to it, it definitely does. Sounds like we used the same cord progression (2, 1, 6, 5) except he throws a different passing cord at the end of every 8 bars
Joel Dodge That’s the only song I know that is so close to your progression. Anyways, do you have any idea how I can edit the equalizer on recordings eg. (Rhythm on the right, Lead on the left). Every time I record on GarageBand, lead and rhythm are always in the middle, and I keep on checking how to edit it but no chance.
Leo Vanne Garcia I’ll have to take s look at garage band, but the first thing I would check is if there is a setting for stereo and that it’s not becoming mono in what ever headphones you’ve using
I use my iPhone connected to an interface. The more I learn about mixing and mastering the better my results are getting. Awesome video!
This was the most helpful tutorial on the internet. Thank you so much my dude!

Help me please. I have Logic pro on iPad. But I can’t find it in logic.how to record on logic using bias fx.
Is it possible to reamp your guitar with cubasis, using a reamp box and real amps and pedals?
Thanks for this. I’m switching from computer based recording to iPad based. I’m not good at either, but this helps.

Thank you, Joel. A good hint to record with Bias fx and dry simultaneously. What's the difference between "Insert Effects" and "Send Effects"? Eric

Generally insert FX is used to record FX into your audio source. It is a destructive way. Send FX just add FX without modify the audio
Very well done video buddy! Keep it up!
