When it comes to gacha games, units can be good in one set of circumstances, and horrible in others. Today I bring you a case of a unit whose utility has been long forgotten, and why I also think he's just neat.

Seven Yi Sang was definitely an up-and-coming unit; there was one guy in particular that talked a lot about how 7Yi could fuel Legerdemain very well, and with the skill cycling bug (shield to erase bottom skill), 7Yi was actually useful more than half the time (I.E. when he's not using skill 1).
As it stands, though:
1. His clash power is dogwater,
2. His skill intercept capabilities are outclassed by aggro mechanics (not that you'd want aggro on 7Yi because of how bad he is at long-term tanking compared to units like Hobocliff and K Corp Hong Lu),
3. Legerdemain isn't particularly meta anymore since most characters have HE/WAW EGO that target half the field now
4. Pierce teams aren't centralizing anymore (since there are ways to make a status effect team for all of the 7 debuff types now)
5. Sin affinities are arguably more relevant than damage relevance now (since stagger makes all damage types fatal, but sin weaknesses are kept the same).
6. Half of 7Yi's skills (I.E. all of his skill 1s) do no damage
There'll probably be some sort of future niche speedrun use for him on a pierce-specific stage, but especially given the poor XP scaling from Luxcavations vs. xp needed for next level, getting a max level 7Yi is becoming less and less worth it.
I like his skill 3 animation. It's kinda silly but I don't care.
Nah. He had bad clashing prowess and bad damage in a world where damage mattered the most(RR1) where you had BL Yi Sang. He was outclassed all the way until Uptie 4 where he FINALLY got good at clashing but by then you already had Spicebush and full power BL Sang, there were more better 00s from other sinners and he also didn't fit into any of the status teams.

Don’t worry, he’ll become viable after a 7 association focused event where we get the Dante ID, and now all members apply double the status effects and furthermore decrease the clash power of enemy atks (cope)

my favorite limbus 00 is Liu Gregor, I know the accepted meta nowadays is to leave him off the Burn team, and I can't really argue hes a better option, but I believe in him. His Skill 1 can struggle to roll an 11 but that doesn't matter if the enemy simply rolls all tails despite the improbability. He simply wins despite the unlikelihood of it happening. Hopefully he'll get a 3+ Coin EGO someday

Seven Yi Sang wasn't meta, that's why he recruited eleven other identical versions of himself, transforming into Erkling Yi Sang, and leading his Seven Yi Sang army into battle.
Fun fact for those who don’t know: Ring Sang can actually work amazingly with rupture. I’m not joking. There’s a video analyzing rupture teams, skip to the graph part and learn about the graph then skip to both Warp Sang and Ring Sang parts to see what I mean. (Basically Ring Sang better cough cough.)
How to sum this up with one word why Ring Sang is good no matter what: Reuse
I swear if it wasn’t for the mess of all the statuses he applies, I wouldn’t have underestimated him as much as I did… (still got him… twice… once from sharding, the other from trying to pull ring outis, I did not get her)

Farmwatch Outis loss was the moment I realized oh. OK the big IDs are "bad ends", we already got Yi Sang bad end, so there's no reason to get farmwatch. Broke my fucking heart but it makes sense.
7 Yi Sang sounds like a good flexible support. Justice for my boy

W Don was considered mediocre on game launch by the same reasons as 7Sang but longer fights and Telepole made her top Nuker.
Just the right buff or the right support can make any ID explode.
super nice to see takes on characters that are this in depth about their kits no matter how niche they are
seeing any sort of content that could be either "lol this unit is doody cheeks" or "this unit is actually pretty good" feels more interesting than a farmwatch meme but either way good content!!
Seven Yi Sang was the ID I loved over Blade lineage when the game first launched so I'm happy to see a video giving him some attention. Niches I found for him are that he's the fastest Yi Sang ID (5-8 Speed) currently without conditionals. This helps a lot when you want to speedrun MD by starting wave fights with Sunshower or even 4th Match Flame to set up Burn conditonals on the first turn.
I'm a big fan of Yi Sang in Limbus so I am very happy you explained the cultural background between Seven Yi Sang and his love of coffee, with the real life Yi Sang having his own cafe!
i feel like the perfect target audience for these videos. just knowledgeable enough about PM to enjoy the jokes/references and to understand the mechanics of the games, while also just un-knowledgeable enough to really appreciate and get inevsted in these kinds of explanatory videos. also, i think you're really funny. keep it up 👍

He explained how they use techniques from other Association's like Zwei and Cinq.
Since you gave us so many fun team builds, here's another quirky trick with 7 Yi Sang: Run him as the 6th unit in your Mirror Dungeon BURN TEAM! With a 5-8 speed range he's tied for the fastest (Turn 1) unit in the entire game, and 4th Match Flame is the fastest-animating EGO in the game. Putting him on a Burn team lets him slap down 4MM on the first turn in order to turn on all the conditionals on your other team members with consistent quick AoE burn application.
For a channel with only two videos so far the quality is fantastic and the videos are pretty entertaining.. I hope to see more in the future 👍👍

Can't wait for your 1427th video to still explain what sinners are in the intro. Also god seven association is the most lackluster scatterbrained faction gameplay wise. Since uptie 4 already rolled and still no unifying change enrolled with 7 assoc upties, it's joever for them even more than farmwatch believers. Unless they roll uptie 5, cause there is NO way they add more 7s, what with more interesting syndicate factions and Ruins lore which both have much more potential being revealed through Dieci Meuersault's uptie story.

@agzzradface3113 Well that's like saying only Ishmael and Rodion exists for Liu, or Yi Sang and Meuersault for BL. Like as dogwater the older 2 star and 3 star IDs are in their respective factions, they AT LEAST mantain synergies. While i look at 7 and ask "where rupture" cause you sure as hell ain't finding it without Talisman Sinc or Lure Don.

Funny thing about Dragalia Lost, at one point (when that gowing dragon vault challenge thing got released), one of the best support units was one of the free story units. Why? Because of her active skill which buffed all allies attack. It wasn't the biggest thing, but it can get 100% uptime. This brought to the public eye units who ultimately did shit damage AND couldn't heal, but gave amazing utility due to being able to always buff the party with good pacing and the proper load out. The unit was eventually outclassed and even then, it was always kept to this one niche, but don't overlook the free units(akak welfare units) as well!.
Seriously, Base Heath carries for a good chunk of the story fights in canto 3(blunt weak enemies, no slash attacks to hit his weakness).

Literally, his only usage was being a fast Fragile applicator and ego usage, because cringe skill set design doesn't help him do anything other than that.
Now, with the existence of Ring, any other Yi Sang ID is pretty much dead except Spicebush.
Actually, Ruina's Seven had the exact same gimmick as the majority of Limbus' Seven IDs. They specialized in inflicting Fragile, which used to work like Rupture sidegrade (+X damage modifier that doesn't go away on hit and instead is removed on turn end; it also was affected by other damage modifiers, like Limbus' Fragile, rather than being bonus damage) rather than Smoke downgrade that is Limbus Fragile. Dante, the named keypage, also had Weakness Analyzed or whatever, which is basically same as it is now. We don't talk about the other Dante passive.

Gotta say this video was really good. I appreciate the fact that you went into the literary references, which I feel is an under represented aspect of this game. My personal favorite unit is BL Yi-Sang (I adore not having a single skill that does nothing) so hearing some support for the other season 1 Yi-Sang is nice.
As someone who experienced a variation of the 12 seven yi sang Glitch, I came upon one where the _only_ unit who was not changed was Kraust, which just made me imagine she was corned against all Eleven 7 (Heh) Yi Sang.

7 is weird because they shifted from a vulnerability/clash focus to rupture. I mean the rupture was always there but it wasn't their focus or anything. As a result they don't mesh at all.

Base Ishmael skill 3 inflicts 1 same turn blunt fragile, but other than that nothing
Oh wait yeah 7 ID, but aside from ryoshus god awful “slash” skill and 7 Outis s3 there’s no good blunt to take advantage of if you’re running pure 7 association

I take great offense to you even alluding that Shi Don is worse than Cinq Don. I see a poise unit with better haste generation (and thus better speed), only a slightly worse s1, a slightly better s2, and an infinitely better s3 that can clash better unconditionally without needing 2+ skill slots and struggle for a conditional that needs a prior use of s3 to get without good luck.... anyways great vid! Love to see more limbus analysis content!

Seven sang is a case that every ID has a place at least somewhere, doesnt matter how overshadowed or below standards they can be, you can always find a way to make people work somewhere.
My favorite example of this is how I’m mariachi sinclair’s strongest soldier despite how abhorrently bad he is, yet the moment he was given the aggro from blubberbubble and the max speed up from railway 4 my Jefe became the all star top dog for dodging scary hits from start to end

But 7Sang Was used in the 27 turn clear even after the Ring came out. The only fight Ring was used in was spiral of contempt where he was benchwarming for base ish to heal sp on wingbeat.

Ummm acktually Seven Yi Sang was used in RR3 world record runs for the entire 3rd section with corroded Dim Shredder and using the pierce fragility to make ahab more weak to pierce

7 Yi Sang is still my go-to setup/backup unit simply because of his consistently high speed range to pair with his E.G.O. choices.
I use him in burn teams to 4th match everything on turn 1 to get everyone's burn conditionals immediately.
He consistently outspeeds to use Base Ego, Wishing Cairn and Sunshower to trigger defensive buffs and debuffs.
I just finished making a paralyze team and ran it in MD and he was there. I had so much nostalgia because I ran him all the time (wasn’t a fan of BL) and had a blast!

I used him as my emergency bench unit for MD2H to throw out a fast Sunshower on the fifth floor. Speed range is actually a pretty interesting metric when thinking about IDs. Even now Base Ishmael is the fastest of her IDs; making her the best ID to throw out Blind Obsession every turn. "But Captain Ishmael's speed is only slightly below! She's just better!" If you're spamming Blind Obsession your actual kit doesn't matter at all!!

seven yi sang is a must uptie 4 i think because i remember using him during the first refraction railway and i got upset that riposte rolled a nine (9) maximum and he couldnt win a clash like 90% of the time

Project moon has yet to explore paralysis teams and let me tell you something
Next turn 3 paralysis, once ever three turns is massive. You know the next turn the boss is gonna do something funny, you paralysis, that's it, they now don't have a special attack. The only realistic competitor is B Kim salt's 7-10(?notsure) next turn aoe paralysis which is subjectively stronger albeit once every 6 turns, also having the flaw where you can't control it if the enemy only has one hail mary attack and you win every other clash before it.

I just like.. 1-2 turn with a full Rupture team.. Battery and Thunderbranch does the job. If you can't wipe them first turn after landing Heath's S3, and or Faust's other S3 after all the rupture, turn 2 they're parts are probably broken (except for 3 bosses) then just murk them :€

I love seven yi sang, I got him pretty early on and he’s just stuck around in my main team rn.
All old ID obvious problem are the fact they kit are outdated
If pm ACTUALLY try balance out the if and make them have a interesting mechanic to play,i think he would be viabltin some fight or team set up
That's kind of the problem with gacha games in general. Old units will get outclassed eventually, because it is not reasonably feasible to constantly upgrade the old units. That's a lot of work for no gain, when a new unit could easily rack in a good few bucks.
See, you probably already know this but the 7 sang support passive is hell to get cause its not owned, its a-resonance 8:38

7 Yi Sang does have another upside that, while not a big one and does require some team building, is not nothing. With his passive active all of his skills essentially have a floor of 7 during a clash. Which is nice in early turns when everyone's sanity isn't at 45 and no one can rely on hitting heads. You do need to build a Gluttony res team to get that with any level of consistency, but I do enjoy making Gluttony res teams to make use of Legerdemain EGO passive so I do tend to put 7 Yi Sang in those teams
Thanks for the video. You gave me an idea to make a team to pierce the heavens. My fave 00 ID is LCCB Ryoshu due to being a Blunt Poise ID and for her funny S3, my fave 000 ID is still N Faust due to her Whistles Passive and dealing a variety of status effects.
Technically sloshing Ishmael can have all of her skills be rupture count positive while applying rupture so she isn’t trash I promise please I can only cope so hard
personally, i use zwei faust simply because she's the only id i can think of that has envy pierce skill 1 (i run an envy team and its 50/50 blunt pierce) with gloom and lust skill 2 &3 respectively. she's literally the perfect id for all of my ego resource needs and also allows me to use fluid sac. (this video would make me use seven sang if it weren't for starsang having relentless stabbing, let alone being part of the pequod.)
I dropped limbus after 100 hours of playtime on its release because I found the gameplay very boring and just couldn't take it anymore, but seven yi sang was definitely my favorite.
He was the only one back then who I felt had a distinct, original playstyle compared to everyone else with his 3 Paralysis on Riposte and his average coin values. Only guy who actually made me plan out my next turn. Playing him solo against bosses was the most fun I managed to get out of this game

For some reason your videos about Limbus have me disagreeing with every single point, or at the very least with that point's phrasing and structure until the very end, where I have to agree with the final message. I just find the structure and pacing quite difficult to watch as a deeply involved player from release, since a lot of things that feel like they need to be adressed, but aren't. But yeah, PM's deepstate definitely murdered my boy Seven Yi Sang with Ring Sang release, may he rest in 3 Paralysis next turn.
Genuinely don't understand where the explanation of Rupture was going, true, Seven Yi Sang is not great at rupture, true Rupture is a cryptid, K Lu and Dead Rabbits Meursalt are not that great for rupture either, it could have a point if it were to have more focus on how release IDs had a lot more access to Paralysis and Fragility, but had really low status apllications (aside from LCCB Ishmael), but that was not mentioned, although that would have been a nice point to make. Anyway as a rupture-interested individual I consider all points invalid, due to lack of spreadsheets when talking about Rupture. /j

Jokes aside I find it difficult to include every little detail while still trying to tell a story that’s understandable to new players or people who don’t play Limbus. Though I will admit I can definitely improve on making things more accurate. Glad you enjoyed it though :)

Don Quixote is really really insane, like you dont even need EGOs (though they help), la sangre de sancho already makes her able to heal a lot and to heal some extra from bleed. And of course the main course of the deal: "Oh my god why is she rolling so high?"
I have been playing MDs with Don solo and i have to say: ITS FUN AS FUCK
Her evade is lust which means if you have yuri faust on the bench she can get extra evade power easily
Skill 1 gives her haste and thats normally useless for a team because her skill 3 needs 10 speed but you cant reach that much, but guess who can have multiple skill 1s in a turn by going solo?
Oh? Need more clash power? Just take a look at skill 2 for that, by gaining even more clash power her skill 3 can outright roll just as much, (and with some outside help) roll EVEN higher than SELF DESTRUCTIVE PURGE
