Strong debut concept! They were given a decent budget, so it goes to show their company had big plans for the group! I'm glad I finally get to see their original sound and energy!
My shirt looks so wrinkled! I left my laundry in a pile on the bed after washing! Need to learn to hang them up afterwards!

Evolution, that's the secret behind BTS success.
Bringing something new and refreshing all the time and not closing them self in one genre.

the things bts chose to talk about since 2013 were really rocking the boat and those who felt fine in that boat didn't like it. also as strong and rebellious this and other early bts songs were, it also made them an easy target for hate topics and alienation, which was successfully used by other fandoms. many people saw the raw potential bts had, so bts were taken as a threat to the stable hierarchy and big3 domination that was present in the industry. thus a lot of overboard hate campaigns. bts were at a position of many disadvantages, low budget, push back from the industry, hate from the underground scene, lack of connections, attacks by media and big fandoms, everyone looked down upon them because they could, from their peers to show hosts
but you are right that the rebellious message is also what attracts people. and though in early days army were small, those armys were the bravest and the most passionate fans you could have had. and armys mission was always to spread bts' MUSIC. because we know it's good, we know how it can affect people and help people. there are so many of us who were saved by bts in one way or another, literally of metaphorically. "your music saved me" is a hand written banner you will often see at bts' concerts. that passion to share the wonder armys found in bts was the driving force that elevated them faster than any other group with a full industry support behind. by that force bts started achieving heights never before seen around 2015-2016 and it never stopped betting grander. we half jokingly call them "bangtan the-first-act-to sonyeondan" because it's always them lol. but because we know very well how hard that road was and how much pain was beared, it doesn't feel like we got to the place where we are now very fast. each comeback is another mountain, another challenge to overcome that no one was able to before. bts often say they didn't have anyone to ask advice when they struggled and feared the new horizons since they were the pioneers in their the-first-act-to things. because their growth of popularity and recognition was very steady and consistent year by year, it doesn't feel fast, but if you think about it, they went from a dorm room with 7 bunk beds to being 5 time grammy nominated artists in 9 years. that's insane. and it all started with passionate boys asking what's your dream and soon-to-be armys gravitating to the questioning the conformity and thought provoking nature of this new rookie hip hop group

Actually when BTS first started out they did not have a big budget for their MV because Big Hit was almost bankrupt in their early days but still did amazing but most other groups starts off with more money then BTS did. I really like your reactions and look forward to follow your BTS journey.

BTS don't really do concepts they do things about their lives their journey as artist as developing human beings referencing, art, books and psychology but it's all stuff that's real to them rather than sometime abstract. They also write, compose and produce it rather than be given a 'concept and a song' and told ok this is what you are doing to day.

i wonder why bighit still hasnt added lyrics to no more dream sigh. much appreciated that you looked it up despite that, thank you. imo the strongest power that made bts stand out in 2013 was them being unafraid to go for socially unwanted topics with first album right away. it was very bold and among all the hate they were getting for choosing that path they still stood by their beliefs. huge respect

When this, their debut song came out their ages were Jin (20), RM (18), Suga (19), jhope (19), Jimin (17), V (17) and Jungkook (15). The song is basically telling youth to follow their own dreams. South Korea has one of the highest suicide counts amongst teenagers in the world as many kids are encouraged to study for around 12 hours a day to get into a good university. Looking forward to seeing your reactions to some of their other works. By the way, the Bangtan Universe is the story line that continues throughout several albums as well as mobile games and a web toon. I wouldn’t get into that straight away as there’s a hell of a lot going on there 😂. Enjoy! ✌️💜

    • @NanciBK
      @NanciBK Год назад +1

The highest in the world suicide rate for 10-18 year olds last time I checked, and 16 hours a day is pretty typical for a study day, going from school to a cram school or other study place.

  • @nerd1858

To understand the impact this song had in Korea & why ppl were trying to end them right away you need to understand South Korean society. In SK kids go to school 12+ hrs a day from grade school thru to high school graduation. They spend their entire youth studying for the Korean version of the SAT's. Cuz if they don't get into a good university they have dishonored their families & many families will disown their children. It's no 1 or a failure & the job parents want for their kids is a government worker. That's why SK has the highest suicide rate in the world for kids btwn 10-19yrs old

If I remember correctly they were sooo in sync from Day1 coz Bang PD (CEO of bighit) would watch the dance practices frame by frame and would point out if they got any miscordination.. they had to be perfect and impactful coz BTS was the company's nd staff's last shot to survive since they were near bankruptcy. They had to go all out with no mistakes to be pointed out💜💜

Love when people react to this oldie but goodie. Shows how far they’ve come, how they’ve grown but also how from day 1 you can see they will grow into something so great. Jungkook joined at like 13 and by this debut 15! And being teens, their music and style was as rebellious teens. They were very young, small company, yet they are legendary now. Can’t help but love them, their story tugs are the heart.
It’s funny how you thought it was bigger budget for a debut but really they were working their butts off with nothing much compared to big companies, BigHit was a small company with little and put all the faith in BTS. BigHit owes BTS I feel, they worked together yes but without BTS success, BigHit would be BK and gone.

TIP: If you want subtitles on their older songs you need to get them from the RUclips channel 1theK. It's just as official and safe to react to. It wasn't until later they started their current YT channel and they didn't bother with subtitles on the oldest songs.
But in short they really came out swinging at both the system and their peers with this one. And regarding the visuals, their boss actually majored in aesthetics so I think that's a big part of the visuals getting priority. 💜

BTS members were living in a small dorm because it was not making strong teamwork. Their manager was living with them too. Because Bighit really didn't have money.
People mentioned that Bighit was a small company because they had been financially difficult since BTS was trainees.
In May 2015, Signal Entertainment Group (Signal), specializing in artist management and television production, acquired BigHit through a 6 billion Korean won convertible bond. Bighit finally paid back 6 billion Korean won in 2016.
Sorry, my English is not good. I hope you understand their situation.

No More Dream is the eyeliner era...fetus BTS lol. Thanks for reacting to BTS. Keep going coz we love it. BigHit really did put a lot of effort for this group. This seems to be well funded MV but this was the time BigHit was struggling financially....FF it was all so worth it. Thanks to BigHit & Bang PD Man for believing in them and not giving up. Salute and so much love to Bang PDnim and BTS.

That yellow bus they kept and they used it on the stage of their last Concert Busan 2022 Yet to Come' which was their last concert before they told us all that Jin had informed the powers that be that he would be enlisting. It would consistent for them to have it back on Stage for their first concert when they all return from their military service.

So you know if there's any BTS content without subs all you have to do is type eng sub after it. So for no more dream you would type no more dream mv eng sub. Important cuz even with this song right out the gate they're criticizing society

They were obviously still kids here and felt a tremendous amount of pressure to be a certain look that “fit” a persona as hip hop and as artists. They were being attacked from every direction and felt like they had a lot to prove. They also had very little budget for costuming so they had to make do with what they could and were often mocked by other groups who had budgets for designer stuff.
At this stage they were still figuring out who they were themselves and they were being told a lot of things by a lot of people about who or what they were supposed to be, both well meaning and not.
It’s great to watch their evolution as they become more confident and true to themselves and grow and get more comfortable in their own skins. Jimin in particular undergoes the greatest transformation and he has written some songs about his struggles with personal identity and talked repeatedly about how hard this time was for him and how he thought he had to act tough when he is actually a very gentle person, similar in temperament to his father. He watched an old video of this time and said to his younger self “hurry and become me” while crying. J-Hope underwent a pretty big shift too. Jin also said he thought he had to be super serious as the oldest but his personality is a massive goofball and something of a big baby (he is the youngest at home and often can be found goofing around with the three youngest members) and he was really uncomfortable in that role and pretty quickly dropped the serious, quiet guy role.

I became an ARMY in 2020 and when I checked out BTS’s earliest MVs I was also struck by the quality of them. It shows Big Hit’s faith in BTS; like they just knew one day new fans would come back to the beginning and they didn’t want to be embarrassed.
If you haven’t already decided on the route your BTS journey - you could follow the Proof Anthology track list. It’s 3 CD - the 1st CD being title tracks and yes No More Dream kicks it off. Actually there’s a Proof Live video - a combination of 3 live performances and BTS talking to ARMY. Suga, one of the rappers, describes the Proof Anthology as a guidebook to BTS. Why not let BTS themselves lead your journey?

They label gave BTS freedom to made their own sound and we can see they grow from teens to young men and their music grows with them. Of course when they make music as BTS there are 7 different taste😅 and blend that all together. But time to time rap-line has made own-taste-mixtapes, everybody has made own-taste-solos and now making own-albums/singles. What I have watch kpop, there is no group whom has been that much freedom than BTS, (and of course they have huge influence/inspiration to kpop industry, 5 Grammy nominees, US artist of the year...). Sorry my english and greetings from the edge of Europe
