A quick snippet from a recent casual livestream where the topic of the classic British sci-fi series Blake's 7 possibly coming to Blu ray was brought up. This has now been officially confirmed.

The show that learned me English years before I had it in public school.
did you mean "that taught me"?
@thespacebook I guess I did. It's my third language, to be exact. My apologies for the grammar ignorance. I'm stressed to finish moving in a new apartment.
@@citizenVader no worries, I understand now.
I really want to buy this. I’ve only seen a couple of episodes years ago but I loved it!
*Only if it’s region free or there’s an NTSC version, for me, of course.
@@GAMECLOSET I think it will be specifically R2 - but, I could be wrong!
At last it's about time ...I can update my DVD set ..however the new set does feature a lot of Matthew Sweet..
Haha - yes, I sympathise Terry!
Pre-ordered the Season 1 set. Looking forward to this.
So am I! And be sure you're subbed. More Blakes 7 content on the way....
@@thespacebook I thought I was, but just checked and I wasn't. I guess I just follow from Facebook. Subscribed now. :)
What are the advantages of a B7 Blu-ray when it wasn't high definition to begin with? I think the crap space scenes could do with a tasteful remake, by this I mean similar shots but using a steady cam. That technology was available at the time but production was done on the cheap.
Stay with us at The Spacebook, because I will be answering this question and more. Blake's 7 content on the way!
Can't wait for this! I'm glad I have a region-free blu ray player...the trailer looks fantastic!
If B7 were remade in today's environment, it would be a complete horror show. One of the strengths of the original was threading the needle of a complex rebel/terrorist dynamic without a sledgehammer. Today's writers have no clue how to do that.
There are definitely capable writers, but that does not get them the job. New writers are required to tick the right boxes.
Pre ordered on Amazon coming November!
If you're a big B7 fan, you may want to subscribe to this channel.... more on the way.
Thrilled to bits to know Blake's 7 is being re-mastered for Blu-ray with a load of extra features! Found the BBC announcement trailer tantalising. Sad that so many of the regular cast are no longer with us, as a Classic Doctor Who style 'Behind the Sofa' feature would have been wonderful. Glad to know that the Kevin Davies' 'Making Of' documentaries are finally seeing the light of day. Agree that a modern reboot would likely not be in the spirit of the original. The Big Finish audio plays have been terrific, though. Roll on autumn for the Blu-ray of Series A.
The possibilities are mouth watering! More on B7 coming to this channel soon Will!
@@thespacebook Count me in!
I do say Blake,s Seven having an awesome arch-enemy and principal villain, Servalan was well awesome in billions of ways and she is the ultimate female villain in sci-fi and she is also the best female arch-enemy and female arch-villain too and she is the one principal character to survive the finale much as she was not in the finale called Blake.
Blimey! I can barely understand this comment... Help me out a touch, with the odd full stop? Commas etc?
@@thespacebook It basically means that arch-enemy Servalan, despite been both the arch-enemy and principal villain in B7 was one character not to be seen to be killed off and slain in the finale of B7. I also say that arch-enemy Servalan as a female villain outshines lot of other female villains, in sci-fi such as the Rani in classic Dr Who and lots of other female villains also in classic Dr Who . She eve outshines the Borg Queen in STNG, as well and she is one female arch-villain who will always for me be well remembered .
I really liked the trailer for the new Blu-Ray and the poster art for it.
To be honest not a big fan of Blake’s 7 as I’am of Doctor Who, not because I don’t like it. It’s because I haven’t watched any episodes.
My parents watched it and loved it I think they used to show it in the same time slot that Doctor Who was in. The only childhood memory I have of it was of the classic final scene from the last ever episode. 😀
The price of the Blu-Ray is pretty good and the extras behind the scenes stuff and the rebooted special effects look ace, defo will be getting it. His Chris Chapman for the DW Blu-Rays involved in this. 🙂
This is the ideal time to fall in love with this fabulous Sci-Fi series.
@@thespacebook I like the idea that the main characters of the show are anti heroes who all have a chequered past and could easily profiteer from the regime but instead decide to rebel and fight against it, and The Liberator is ace name for a starship 🙂
And how did it "predict our future" ?
Have you looked out of the window in Britain lately?
I have just subscribed to your channel, not just because I have a soft-spot for a welsh accent but the subject matter looks interesting!
BUT... if you turn into ANOTHER one of those 'grifting' /begging RUclipsrs, not oniy will I unsubscribe, but I will send an army of heavily armed tiny knights to come and find you!
Keep up the great work... I will be watching. 😉⚒️⚔️
Welsh accent?
Grifting/begging?
Tiny knights?!?!!
- erm, thanks for the subscription. I think!
I've been doing this for quite a while, on my primary channel Nigel.
Servalan the Margaret Thatcher of the evil The Federation but Servalan was light years more attractive, cold, ruthless and merciless for dominance and galactic power.
Thatcher : what a legend!
In America, some bloke called Michael did a sort of, soft or light re-boot of Blake's 7. It was called Crusade. That's been forgotten MORE than Blake's 7. 😊
There have been several such efforts! Both in the states and other countries haha
@@thespacebook Blake's Junction 7? 😆
