Wow great data!
Do loopers usually on travel down River waterways during daylight hours?
In general Loopers tend to prefer to do their travel during daylight hours. When I moved my boat down the Western Rivers, I traveled about 4 to 6 hours per day on average, there were a few longer days, and one day that was about 12 to 13 hours to get to the only marina in the area. That was the only time I travelled after dark.
Travelling after dark is not scary. You need to have your route planned out, so you know where you are going. Know how to read the lights on commercial vessels, and pay attention to Channel 13 on the radio. Ideally have an AIS transponder.
I actually enjoyed my one after-dark transit. Probably helped that there was moonlight out, and a clear sky. But, I don't count after dark travel as impossible. Go into it with a plan, and with a healthy respect for the fact that it will be different.
Most Loopers avoid traveling in the dark and try to do all of their cruising in daylight hours.
