The artist has to develop sensitivity to intangibles like personality and likeness, which can be captured and conveyed in many different ways. She showed me an exercise where we would try to draw the people as they walked by with just the most obvious/apparent/noticeable --(I'm at a loss for words here) attribute about them. I started to get pretty good at it but that was years ago. Have you ever done anything like that? I have forgotten most of what she told me I want to try it again but I don't know where to start.

Beautiful portrait and lovely choice of colors. Im glad you didn't follow thru on flicking paint at the portrait. It can be tempting since its a nice effect but has become a bit of a cliche.

I can almost never sketch for my painting (acrylic). I almost always have to freehand it. But I'm sure my paintings would look more indebth once I figure it out more. Love your process. So beautiful. I want to figure out watercolors but i paint too fast. Lol.
