Thanks Doc for the free repairs. In Germany Alita is between 9th and 18th rank. 99 is still going strong! Love and peace to all fans of Alita Battle Angel 🍊🍫♥️
Most of the stores I went to in my area, Target, Walmart, etc. are already sold out of the DVD and blu-ray/DVD combo. They only had the 4HD set available. I think the numbers went down due to the stores not restocking for several weeks.
I noticed that too! I almost would think it would be a little higher if properly stocked. I stop by a few different ones because I travel cities a lot... And I noticed that there and Target usually only have like a copy or maybe two left in stock at any given time.
Plus, according to Robert Rodriguez “Alita” in Spanish actually means “little wing”; how fitting for a “battle angel”; also everybody on the Alita sequel train!! All aboard!!!
The blu-ray and DVD in the UK have dropped to £10 and £7 respectively, which is the retail floor price for anything that's not bargain bin material. IIRC they started at £20 and £12, maybe £14 but the 4K was £25. Turns out the 4K is still around £25 as are other 4K films, presumably the format still carries enough of a premium for that.
Thank you for the update doc.I got a steelbook off of eBay so you guys might want to pick one up early so you don't have to pay as much as I had to get one. Alita battle Angel challenge is still ongoing that's get a sequel. #AlitaArmy
It’s very likely that Alita: Battle Angel is now so profitable that it would warrant a sequel, so Disney may announce a sequel any day now. However, Disney may be waiting to see how Terminator: Dark Fate does at the U S box office. The question is, can James Cameron produce a movie that will go past $100 million in the United States, or are his movies just niche movies for science fiction fans? If Terminator: Dark Fate goes past $100 million in the U S box office, that is a plus for an Alita sequel, in that Disney would rely on James Cameron knowing how to produce popular movies that connect with mass audiences. If Dark Fate doesn’t go past $100 million, that would be a slight negative. Note that Terminator: Dark Fate currently has a Rotten Tomatoes rating of 65%, which is a good sign indicating that Dark Fate may indeed be a big box office hit. James Cameron will be doing interviews to promote Dark Fate this week, and he may mention Alita: Battle Angel. And Rosa Salazar may show up to help James Cameron promote Terminator: Dark Fate. Disney may also be waiting to see if the Alita: Battle Angel blu rays go past 1 million units, which should happen within a week or two of Black Friday. Alita: Battle Angel continues to exceed Ready Player One’s blu ray sales in a week-to-week comparison. And when The Numbers announces the September 22, 2019 blu ray sales, which should be published tomorrow or the next day, Alita blu rays may get a boost from Amazon’s UNDONE series and the blu ray sales may go up somewhat - say 10%. Amazon took out a full-page ad in this weekend’s Los Angeles Times promoting UNDONE. Those ads are costly - probably at least $40,000 for a full page ad in the Sunday Los Angeles Times - so that indicates that Amazon thinks UNDONE is a big hit that can pull in new subscribers to Amazon Prime from people who want to see UNDONE. And on November 8, Ed Skrein’s MIDWAY movie hits theaters. Both Ed Skrein and Keann Johnson (Hugo) are in that movie, which may also help promote Alita: Battle Angel. Note that Ed Skrein is the lead actor in Midway, and from the MIDWAY trailer it looks like MIDWAY will get a high score on Rotten Tomatoes and be a big box office hit. As Doc Ido noted, the petition is now at 87,224 signatures and continuing to rise. The rate of increase has slowed to about 400 signatures per day, but it may stabilize around that level. It’s great to see Ed Skrein praising Alita: Battle Angel and saying he wants to return in a sequel. JAYA Nice Day mentioned that he wants to see the Zapan arc in the Alita sequel, mentioning that it was a superb, touching story. Also, JAYA Nice Day just posted a new Alita video showing Alita’s happy faces in the manga. That’s a really nice video, and it’s good to see Alita smiling. The next few weeks will probably be exciting times for the Alita Army.
Oh boy you have NO IDEA what that lose is gonna do for Zapan and how much that will fuck Alita's Life.....dude you need to read the Manga...if they make the sequel and they plan the seeds for Zapan revenge story, that one HELL of a dark film we are going to get, and I hardly cant wait.
I hope Terminator performs well at the box office, but I feel like the marketing for it has been pretty poor even if the movie turns out great. There just seems to be zero hype surrounding that film sadly. This is worrisome as its success may influence a potential Alita sequel. Hopefully Alita sales jump substantially around Black Friday as I really want that sequel.
Hey Doc, this is all great news. As a side note, I'm working on a screenplay and I'm basing my work on Alita: Battle Angel to a certain extent. No, my play is not about a cyborg or sci-fi. Are you a professional screenwriter? I know from bitter experience that working on screenplays doesn't mean squat if you can't sell them. It wears you down until you eventually stop enjoying the work and get desperate to actually do something with it. I've written several spec screenplays and none of them has been successful so far.
@@tomnorton4277 Well, first off, I'm sorry for your sake, but I do hope you'll have better luck in the future in whatever you do. I'm not professional, nor am I looking to be. This is my passion project. If it flies, great, if not, so be it. BTW, any relation to Edward Norton (thought I'd ask).

C'mon James,Jon,Robert! You said you would wait to let the audience tell you if we want more Alita. Even Ed is on board: We WANT it already!!! More Alita! Alita:Fallen Angel and Alita:Avenging Angel!
Ed Skrein was already on of my favorite actors in modern day...hearing saying with so happiness that he loved working Alita and want to make another one..........dude the guy sky rocket to my top 5 new modern actors along with my number 1....of course Rosa is XD. You can see how genuine he say that, make me so happy, many actors work in movies and are indifferent to the fans and the project.....but every actor who work on Alita LOVED the film and the camaraderie that born in that film between actors, director, producers etc....you feel the love from Cameron, Rodriguez, Landou, all actors, artist, musicians, etc, they all truly loved the experience and the results, that is PASSION for something.......goddamn just Fox/Disney....do FUCKING SOMETHING with Alita #Alitasequel
After reading the manga I have to say that Zapan is one of the coolest villains in the manga, I think that the second movie should have Zapan as the main villain. Jasugun/Jashugan would be awesome for the sequel.
Robert may have been the director, but since James owns the franchise, I think that could indicate that we'll probably get a sequel started years down the road. James is notorious for waiting many years between his films. It's partly to get everything just right, but he's also simply "shelved" ideas for years on end, he's stated. He mentioned that he gave the work for Alita to his VFX team, Team Avatar, because otherwise he'd have to let them go from being so late on writing the script for Avatar 2 (he waited years to get started on that). Despite all that time gone by, he never brought out Alita for them until Robert suggested it. It may be because he's also busy running a vegan food business, but he has a reputation for simply putting things off for awhile. That being said, since Robert rewrote the script for the first film, I'd like him to get started writing the script for the next...
So let’s see, not only do the fans want an Alita sequel; but so does Rosa Salazar, of James Cameron and Robert Rodriguez, and now even Ed Skein wants an Alita sequel; and I’m sure the MSM will try to make this look evil or some bullshit when really, nope people just love the movie and they love Alita(seriously I cosplayed as Alita at a couple anime conventions and was asked for so many pictures and even little kids knew who I was and was like “It’s Alita!”; just warms my heart), as for the name Alita now becoming a popular name to give to babies it fits since according to Robert Rodriguez Alita in Spanish means “little wing”; perfect for a “battle Angel”; also I bought the awesome Amazon mega special edition and it was worth every penny. There’s no stopping the Alita train now!
Alita had some great villains. Nova seemed like an evil spirit until we saw his human form at the end, Vector was basically a black Bob Iger AKA a complete scumbag who will stab you in the back without hesitation or remorse, Chiren was a bitter and desperate woman who prostituted herself to Vector but was more of an antihero than an outright villain because she remembered who she was when Alita reminded her of her daughter, Grewishka was a mirror or Alita's own inner darkness and ability to cause destruction (ever considered how dangerous she'd be if she allowed the killing machine inside of her to take over?) and Zapan was just a vain pretty boy but Ed Skrein was having such a great time being a vain pretty boy that you can still love to hate him. Even Nysianna, who had only one scene, delivered my favourite line in the entire movie, which is her comment on Alita's beauty and speculation that she might be "ugly inside, like the others". It sounds like something Heath Ledger's Joker would have said. The only villain in the entire movie who had nothing interesting about him was Romo, unless you count the unnamed assassins who went after Alita on the motor ball track. I wouldn't mind seeing Zapan again. It feels like Alita beat him but since he's still alive, they can definitely do more with him. On a side note, is it weird that I felt a bit sorry for him when he was whimpering about Alita slicing off his face? It's kind of like when Jack Nicholson whimpered "I feel like I'm losing my mind" in The Shining. Yes, he was playing an irredeemable murderer but the way he said that line sounded pathetic enough to make me feel sorry for him.

Or you could name your new pet Alita... "In the original manga "Gally"/"Alita" was the name of Ido's pet black cat, who died a month before he found the remains of cyborg girl in the Tiphares junkyard. Gally the cat was a male, and Ido's friend Gonzu comments that it is strange to name a female cyborg after a male cat. The cat makes an appearance in the manga as part of a dream that Alita experiences while being trapped in Desty Nova's Ouroboros program. In the dream, Alita is named "Gally" while the cat is named "Alita". Nova himself appears in this dream as "Uncle Nova", reflecting that he cannot get along with the cat. After Kaos in the guise of a dream Den attempts to rescue the real Alita from the Ouroboros and begins fighting with the giant Great Martian King dream robot, the dream Alita and dream Gally merge, appearing in the form of the real Alita. The side story "Holy Night" reveals that Ido took the original Alita in shortly after he arrived in the Scrapyard, at least five years before he found Alita in the Tiphares junkyard." - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Battle_Angel_Alita_characters
If we are to get Alita sequels - and I desperately hope we do - Ed Skrein really needs to step up his acting game as Zapan. For me, he was one of the few weak links in the chain in that production and, especially given how instrumental he is later on in Alita's saga, I have my doubts as to whether he can carry that off.
Trevor W Gratton -I don't know what movie you were watching, but I couldn't disagree with you more. I don't know what the character in the manga is like, but I thought he brought a perfect balance of vane, arrogant, a**holiness to the character. He was like a swaggering, psychotic jackel when he walked the streets of Iron City. And what he did to Hugo to stab at Alita's heart was a particularly despicable if crucial moment in the story. A thoroughly loathsome character.
For me, Ed Skrein was just being Ed Skrein. His performance in Alita was very little different to his performance in Deadpool, he hasn't shown much in the way of range. I've not read the manga in a while, so I can't comment on Zapan's character early in the manga, however in the later chapters, he's quite a pathetic, tortured and resentful character and I simply don't believe that Skrein has the acting range to carry that across successfully. That was my point. Perhaps I am being unfair on him, as his character - or what Rodriguez and Cameron wanted from him - doesn't give him much to work with. I'm open to - and actually welcome - being proven wrong...
I think that Ed Skrein's performance in Alita was somewhat different to Zapan in the manga. But then, this movie is an adaptation, so it's normal to have some differences from the manga.
Trevor W Gratton - To be fair, I haven't seen any other performances that Ed Skrein has done, so I have nothing to compare it to. But hey, not everybody can be Ben Kingsley.
Thanks for the repairs doc!

No way, dude.🤣 He was perfect as Zapan - scary because he's a loose cannon, but just enough of a narcissist to poke fun at.
