The power of State Legislatures to appoint Senators being restored to the hands of your chosen, trusted leaders, the State Legislatures will be mandated by the people to select politically unaffiliated leaders to the Senate.
The political expertise of the 2 parties may remain in the House if the voters wish, and their expertise in the mechanisms of Federal Legislature may be of use.
But the power of Ratification will lie with the people, by the way of their chosen legislatures and Senate.
Then our lawmakers will finally be accountable to the voters once again.
That is how our Democratic Republic is supposed to work.

This is how you know Gwen Berry wasn't doing it for activism, but for attention. Another woman in her sport, the sport she supposedly loves so much, representing the same country as her made history in that moment and all she can talk about and all we can talk about is how mad she was that she had to hear the national anthem while her teammate received her gold medal. She not only disrespected all of us, the anthem and the flag, but she disrespected her teammate during what was an incredible moment for Deanna Price. I am MEXICAN-AMERICAN (Chicano, Hispanic, Latino) born in 1933 in Arizona mining town. During WW2 when I was in the 6th grade, my friend Manuel and I were chosen to raise the American flag during the school's morning ceremony, that included everyone saying the Pledge of Allegiance. This school ceremony was taken very seriously by everyone in those days.
As I wrote the above, I vividly relived that momentous day. I have no idea how we two "Mexican" kids got chosen to "Raise the Flag", but you have no idea what a significant. lasting honor it was.
Starting from virtually nothing, America made it possible to for me and mine to thrive. God, I love this wonderful Nation!
