Had to come back to this after he was talking bout highlight culture killing modern basketball. He couldn't have been more right. He was HIM back in the day 💯.
Not really. Watching this with what we know now with his career makes it easier to call some of this stuff out…but his handle isn’t that good, it’s the same dribble crossover moves almost every time. You also aren’t getting away with sloppily dribbling through defenders at the next level just by being quicker than guys in high school. He has some nice passes to wide open guys…in high school. We’re we supposed to expect him to be able to get these shots off or separation at the next level? Look at his frame…too small. Too many guys his size in the NBA with legit bulk and more length. I’m not a 12 year NBA veteran, but it makes you wonder how long he would have been around if not for his daddy.
Bro i was just 14 years old when this video uploaded.I used to copy his moves and play style. Now im 27 i hang my shoes i got i torn my acl in both knees i never reach my full potential i think but i make it throw and rich up to the second division in my country for 2 years.Damn seems like yesterday.

Aye man, sometimes having a father/family member that came before you in the same field is the best motivator to be great. One thing a motivated man hates is living in another’s shadow, no matter the relation. This is why some younger siblings feel left out
Austin rivers suffers from the skip Bayless curse: Skip bayless: Austin is going to be a star! 4 years later= bust Skip bayless: Tim Tebow is a winner all he does is win: 3 years later: cut by the new England Patriots and eagles:
no he was not.. he was a 10th draft pick. worse case scenario- cut from the nba best case scenario- jeff teague, kemba walker level of play realistic scenario - solid NBA player who will probably have a 10+ seasons career he is now a solid NBA player who is in the rotation of a contender
Technically he was right about Tebow. All he did was win until he got cut 🤷🏾♂️ Took a trash team to the playoffs and beat one of the best teams, and had a great game against the Patriots. At that time he accomplished more in half a season as a backup QB than Matt Ryan, Cam Newton and many other "star" quarterbacks but never got another shot
@@Agendasss Going to a school where there are loads of stars is a problem too. You gotta go to one that gon let u start right away and have a major role in the offense. But decent enough to win games too
Yeah I went to the same HS as him (he was a senior when I transferred in) and I went to a bunch of games. The day I heard about him was the day they played Saint Patrick's which had the #1 recruit (Rivers #2) Anthony Davis... The one game I didn't go to of course because I had no idea 😵
Saint Patrick's won that game but Rivers put up like 38 if I remember correctly lol. The PG ended up being a 4 year starter for Florida Gulf Coast and led them to the 16 to 1 upset in the NCAA tournament. If you remember he threw a bunch of sick alley oops throughout the tournament haha. Brett Comer was his name. He was a dawg in HS too behind Rivers
Ive watched every austin rivers video and this is by far my FAV.. I was a child not more then a child!! lol beasty beat bro!!! Good vid of austin!! Just Perfect!!
i both subscribe to you and hoopmixtape and ive watched both mixtapes of austin rivers and everyone else. why i enjoy watching your videos so much more is because you guys actually show much more then athletic dunks. hoopmixtape over does it while you guys keep it real. by the way, music fits PERFECTLY
handles and quickness to drive makes that pullup unguardable... kid can score at will, and theres nothing you can do about it. pick your poison. i wish him the best at duke and will keeping an eye on him as he develops
He struggled with the pels first year and after that it just seemed like his confidence was shot and he just hasn't been the same. I think playing on the clippers will really help him
That jab step and pull up will get him the #1 pick in the 2012 NBA draft. Hes able to create a shot for himself at any point but especially late in games like Kobe. Pure scorer.
I completely agree. I had high hopes for him but all he has done is prove critics right. Even thought he's getting paid them checks will come to an end if he does't get better.
Great video guys...yall have done it once again. To all the people saying he needs to develop his, you're right. At the college and pro level, there will be quicker, more tenacious defenders/defenses that will push him left. Sure, he's really dominant without it, but he will have to use his left more often at superior levels.
What makes him so good is he has access to a ton of basketball resources since a child, which gives him a huge advantage compared to most kids his age.
clearly he can use his left hand if you've seen him play in real games not youtube videos.. but there's a NOTICABLE difference in his game when he's going left. def something he needs to work on for the next level but you can't deny the talent level is unreal. And this is coming from a die hard unc fan
Austin Rivers is pretty awesome and probably will be a great player in the NBA one day. He needs to work on two weaknesses. 1) Majority of the time he beats his opponent to the left then move in for the lay up or dunk. 2) If he doesn't beat you left, he fakes right and pull back for the jumper. Watch the video its hard to miss.
he is really good dribbling to his left, i think what some people are getting at is that he often finished with his right when going left (i.e. when he crosses JW, who as a result almost blocks his shot
still the greatest ballislife I have ever seen, no matter what his nba career is
You need to go watch Terrance Ferguson or Trae Jefferson then. This is pretty good, but nowhere near the best mixtape.
***** i've seen them. don't make it better cuz he short. whatever though nigga

He didn't go from sugar to shit. He went from highchool to college then to the nba where each level is more challenging.
Exactly the NBA is top 400 players in the world. They aren’t bums he’s playing against professional basketball players.

He was Lonzo Ball before Lonzo Ball

It's like once he reached the NBA he lost all his confidence. He passes up shots all the time and seems really indecisive.
He made a common mistake of listening to the wrong ppl and declaring early

Not even close. AdrewWiggins, John wall, literally like 20 other guy

I think he lost a lot of his confidence coming into the NBA. If he gets that back, he could be deadly.
He came out of college to quick , thats alot of rookies problem
Ricky Autiello right I agree
41 🚀 I hope he found it
Sankeerth Koshy stop playing he gon keep coming
I think am i not the only one came back here after the 41 point game
This Austin made a comeback today lmao. Dropped 41 points on the Kings

He's going to tear it up at Duke. I love his shooting technique. Lots of rotation and follow through. Mad handle too.
Hopefully be productive in the NBA too one day :)

he's a good example of when preparation (hard work) meets opportunity (being an NBA coach's son)
he's got game. but then again he playing in high school. anybody can tear it up there. i wanna see what he can do in college ball
Now look at him. He came back and everyone doubted him.
Real shit
Shouts to the man who said i eish he was as humble as rose, the nation would love this kid if he was as humble as rose
This kid's gonna be a franchise changer in the NBA. I could see the Lakers tryna get him for when Kobe retires.

lol is it a coincidence that you and hoopmixtape released an austin rivers mixtape on the same day?
Lmao his dunk package and handles vanished when he joined the NBA

and he go to nba and show nothing
Except he just dropped 28 points last night... Some players are late bloomers, and it doesn't help he was drafted to a team that was guard heavy
Austin is going to destroy in LA he's starting to play a lot better I think he just needs a good mentor like cp3 and a good coach like doc
James Williams Bet you're biting those words now lol.

He showed something in the last two games
