    As a diehard Brewer fan having grown up in Milwaukee, and an owner of a Craig Counsell jersey from when he was a player in Milwaukee, I will be forever grateful for him plucking us out of the depths of extreme mediocrity. Before Counsell, we went 30+ years of having no expectation of a winning culture or a successful season, and Counsell changed all of that.
    But this still feels gross. I expected him to go to the Mets, as did most Brewers fans. David Stearns went there and we were happy he was "getting a chance to do it in the big time" and I bet that the Brewers fanbase would have thought the same about Counsell. Keep in mind that all things Chicago are hated by all things Milwaukee, most of all, the Cubs and the Bears. And because of the blind-sided nature of this announcement when our expectations were far, far elsewhere, only added to the hurt.
    Is the hate rational? No. But sports fandom never is.

    • @blkbelt42
      @blkbelt42 11 месяцев назад +3

      As someone who is from Wisconsin, lived in Milwaukee in my 20s, and now lives in Chicago I second all of this. It would have been fine if he went to the Mets. It's not fine that he went to the Cubs. Chicago takes everything from Milwaukee thinking it's just a suburb. They claim Am Fam Park is "Wrigley North".
      So for Counsell to go to the Cubs is a betrayal of the community. I understand why he did it; I'm glad he's getting paid, but it is an emotional betrayal and he would have known that.

    • @kylecraig6789
      @kylecraig6789 11 месяцев назад +2

      The anger and feelings of betrayal are not because he left but because of WHO he left for. I think just about every Brewer fan would have been ok with him leaving, but to leave for the Cubs just feels like a slap in the face. Him being born and raised in Whitefish Bay, growing up in and around the team and eventually playing for the Brewers, it just felt like he was forever going to be a Wisconsin legend and hometown hero. Now, it just feels like he threw that all away. I would have wished him success anywhere else, but not for the Cubs. It feels like a long-time girlfriend tells you she found someone else and wants to move on, and that someone else is your long-time, most hated enemy.

    It's not that he left, or how he left, it's who he went to that is the problem. It doesn't seem like people understand how much the people of Milwaukee and Wisconsin dislike the people of Chicago and Illinois, it's not just about the Cubs and Brewers rivalry. The people of Milwaukee and Chicago are a lot closer than people think, and hate each other a lot more than people think. This goes beyond baseball, the part that pisses off a lot of Brewers fans is that he is giving the people of Illinois the satisfaction of stealing our manager and being able to rub it in our faces. If he went to the Mets, even the Cardinals, Reds, Twins, or whoever, no one is Wisconsin would care that much. I'm having a hard time putting into words how I feel about this, but it means more than just baseball.
    Edit: Not sure why Stugotz is so obsessed with Kenosha. Counsell is from Whitefish Bay which is North of Milwaukee. Kenosha is a city and county halfway between Chicago and Milwaukee.

    Just a bit disappointed that Counsell left for Chicago. It’s gonna be weird seeing him in the Cubs dugout. But this is on the owner. Mark is a fucking cheapskate who didn’t pay up for the best manager the team has ever had. I don’t blame Craig walking away from a team he’s been connected with since his childhood. I hope he wins a World Series now, and the Brewers get a new owner who is willing to spend some money occasionally

An example they give you two political clips from the media then ask who are you voting for based off this clip 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫 and if you pick neither it then forces you to pick a candidate 🤦🏾‍♀️🤦🏾‍♀️ that’s why I wouldn’t read too much into these “ polls “

    As a lifetime Chicagoan with family and friends in Wisconsin, let me explain the regional landscape to you simply: Wisconsin (particularly northern Wisconsin) HATES Chicago. I once met my college roommate’s father, knowing I was a Bear fan, refused to shake my hand. I’ve known my roommate for years and the father didn’t talk to me til the day he died. There’s a real cultural hate up north. Milwaukee/Madison is filled with Chicago transplants and it’s not as intense-but the Wisconsin lifers are raised with Illinois spite. We (Chicagoans) don’t think about them much outside of hating the Packers.
    At the end of the day, both die hard fan bases know that there’s no one definitively better in the business than Counsell. Cub fans have always respected him and knew Ross was bad this past year.

    • @mattborman5780
      @mattborman5780 11 месяцев назад +1

      Lol. Wisconsinites with a life don’t “hate” Chicago. There’s some Cubs and Bears hate, but only morons hate the city of Chicago. Lots of love here for the city.
      Madison and Milwaukee are, however, their own cities. Nobody here thinks of them as “Chicago satellites”. Perhaps that’s what Chicagoans think. The reason these cities don’t hate Chicago isn’t because they’re full of Chicagoans. It’s just because they’re not full of hicks who happen to hate all cities considerably larger than their own. Those same people hate Madison and Milwaukee too, and they’re not even “big”. This rural/urban schism should be familiar to someone from Illinois
