  • Minnesota passed a paid sick leave bill requiring employers to pay accrued sick/mental health days for hours worked. The cap is 48 hours annually for employees. Thoughts?

The problem IMO is that folks needed to be forced to offer paid leave in the first place. Pass the cost on to the customer and feel good to know you’re caring for families.

lmao, if you think the IRS is the issue you're not paying attention. And paid sick leave is 100% something that is needed in the US, there is zero reason for it to not be there for an employer of any real size. Right now workers are treated as strictly disposable in most places. Family dying but it's not your immediate family? Oh well, guess you aren't allowed to have close relationships with anyone not your parents or sibilings. Baby is sick? Oh well. Hurt yourself making us money? Oh well you were't wearing the PPE we dont give you, so your workmans comp is denied but you can still have the time off just not paid. And 48hrs? Don't make me laugh, a sprained ankle can take you out longer than that.
