I am having an issue where the camera won't work on my s7 and my flashlight icon is showing me that it is on and I can't turn it off. I've tried all the fixes I've been able to find online and nothing has worked, including a factory reset. This leads me to believe it is a hardware issue. If I replace my rear camera, will this fix my flashlight issue as well?
YUP, followed the directions in this video and got my camera replaced. THANKS! Tested everything and they work :) The only thing I didn't do is remove the battery. A little tricky getting around the ribbon cables with the battery on but doable. There were 12 screws and 12 connectors to unscrew/screw back on and unplug/plug back in, respectively.
Just had a successful swap thanks to this video! I had a hard time unsticking the battery and ended up realizing its not necessary to remove it. Putting the motherboard back in is only slightly more difficult.
I also have the question, is there a way to "test" the water proofing of the S7 after opening it? I guess I will have to replace the battery and the minijack of my S7... for the battery I will try warranty, and hope that they will do what other companies does, send a refurbished unit, but not really counting on it.
You don't need to take out the battery. In fact the batteries are generally so glued in that removing them destroys them. Leave the battery in place, only disconnect the lead.
If you replace your backglass with a new one that comes with adhesive and allign it perfectly than it should theroretically have the same level of water resistance after the repair, although I can't confirm that the adhesive used in replacement backs is the same as the original adhesive. I hope I could help you.
@IFIXIT I have been trying so hard for an hour to purchase off of your Canadian store parts and tools all on one cart but to no avail. I am registered to your site. I can only add to cart items your link brings me to . When I click on another item it creates a seperate account. Also i copied and pasted an item # on your search icon and has 0 results. Eg i typed un Samsung Galaxy s7 rear camera. It always states 0 results. Yet you link from video brings me there straight. I don't see any way to contact you through your sight for assistance. Very frustrating especially considering this is a technology based website. I am forced to find another dealer.
This tutorial really helped. I am going to replace my camera because there's a black spot. I removed the back cover and cleaned the camera lens and cover but the black spot is still there. (I used a electric blower and microfiber.) Actually, I made it worse because the camera became all smudgy and the black spot is still there. Just got another camera on ebay for ~$16.00 shipped. Hope it works. This is my third Samsung. Something always breaks. They make good phones functionality-wise... but they don't seem to be very durable. :/
No you have to. With any electronics repair always, and I mean ALWAYS physically disconnect the power source before working on electronics. This is basic stuff dude

woulda been nice to get your opinion on putting new adhesive on or not
If you do go lightly. Less is more. Just use a tiny drop of silicone.

So by opening phone, I run the risk of reducing the phones waterproof capability due to ruining the seal. Shouldn't a new seal be easy to install?

There is no reason to remove the battery. I just replace the camera without removing the battery.

@@philspaghet disconnect and remove the battery are different things. You need to disconnect it but not remove it.
