Some people are proper teachers. This man has one the best vids on the topic because he uses method and technique that all good teachers use: organized content, repetition, cautions and clear, uncluttered language. An excellent bit of tutoring!
Actually, I think the repetition in this video is very badly done. It's a literal copy-paste job, which is lazy and unnatural and makes people want to skip. The same 30s section on stressing the spokes between adjustments is spliced into the video three times. There are also a lot of very slow sections where he spends a lot of time showing us very basic things: 20s of taking a tyre off, 30s of putting a wheel on backwards, telling us to loosen all the spokes, doing three while he's talking and then redundantly showing two more after he's run out of things to say, etc. The video contains lots of very useful information and the presentation is very clear but I think about a third to a half of it could be cut without losing any actual content.
Best wheel truing tutorial I have ever seen. I have been repairing my own wheels for over 30 years. I have made every mistake imaginable before perfecting the best method. I wish I had something like this video back when I started. The Internet does have its uses after all. Thank you so much for sharing this you absolute legends.
Tremendous class. It looks like a truly artisan art, reminding the cerebral fight between the fisherman and the fish. Upon this video a lot of questions arise about wheels in general.
Aryan Adibmehr Yes, most definitely one of-if not- the best. There's so much BS out here that it's like a breath of fresh air to view something really serious. This bloke is real.
Excellent. The most comprehensive I have seen and very clear. Have not seen the tip about deflating the tyre anywhere else or the pencil and rubber band as a guage. Much more precise than using a brake pad, though this is OK. Thank you.
Having the space to keep(store) & use things like the jig is handy too, trying to do something like this outside adds variables that really slow the job down.
I understand to watch the rim as you turn it. " it's much easier if you have a wheel jig " yea I get it mate. WHAT SPOKE DO I ADJUST ?????? IM SPINNIMG THE WHEEL. I SEE ITS OUT.OF TRUE. HOW.DO.YOU KNOW WHAT SPOKE IS THE ONE OFF ??????? THANKS A BUNCH
Nice tutorial, but that jig looks a bit flimsy mate! doesn't help if the jig is flexing all over the place and the threads are loose as hell on the truing adjusters!
This is a serious video. No this or that. Straight up front. Nice one. Just get down to it. Wheels are THE problem on a bike. They're part of the fine tuning. You can have all the Campy hubs you want, but if the rims are not true, your goose is cooked. Done.
Man I wish you all would stop giving up these secrets so us real mechanics could stay in business, and at least stop fixing the mistakes made by your viewers. They attempt to try the wheel, screw it up beyond anything they could fix, then suddenly my phone rings asking if I will correct their mistakes... Lmfao... If only it balances out, (no pun intended)

Lorne Spry How could I agree more ? Well put.

Finally a video that truly explains how to tru a bicycle wheel correctly. great video I especially how it is broken up into different segments.

Very clear instructions. A well-made, thoughtful lesson. Many thanks.
Very clear. Not in a hurry. Receiver can grasp why so. Appreciate your skill sharing.

Great video . Very clear and easy instructions on how to fix your wheels . I majorly stuffed mine and this helped me get it back .

Excellent tutorial, thanks a lot!
Very good video, it played on repeat while I was tuning, perfect repeating instructions
Very clear , but can you please provide the name brand of that wheel truing device? I would like to get one. thank you!
I find it quite difficult to true bicycle wheels, can anyone please provide any advice or tips. Great video thankyou.
themost explanatory vid. i ve seen.thanks
Very nice and I know how to repair my bicycle rim. lots of thanks.
You're welcome.
what truing stand are you using?
Just a cheap one Brian, but it's all you need to get the job done.
Brian, it's the Tacx Exact Wheel Truing Stand £39 on Amazon. Works a treat, Pete
Thank you🙂😀❤️
Pure gold. Great video 👍
What make is that stand?

Very helpful thank you so much
thank you - great vid
When truing it is better to loosen the spokes that are too tight first, and allow the rim to be true. Tighten later, if needed at all.
I'm glad you explain the obvious
Does anybody know the make/model of the trueing wheel jig used in the video?
Thanks
I have one like that - its the TACX truing stand - on Amazon for around 50e. Very good and doesnt take much space.

Great video for trueing wheels but please put the skewer the right way around
Nice tutorial, but that jig looks a bit flimsy mate! doesn't help if the jig is flexing all over the place and the threads are loose as hell on the truing adjusters!
Yes a fancy jig can be easier to use, but we also wanted to show you can get the job done perfectly well even with cheap equipment.
Wow. Never even occur in my mind to put the rear wheel BACKWARD. Thought you would at least loose a few fingers to make space for it. 😅😂😅
@10: voiceover says "tightening", but I am seeing wrench turned anti-clockwise. Isn't that the loosening direction?
ForbinColossus That's how you tighten. You draw the collar "into" the wheel - towards the hub. You have to think three dimensionally.

If only trueing stands and bike stands weren't so damn expensive..
Muito bom
An excellent video however why no gloves?☺
Gloves are not necessary
@@MadeGoodFilms for your hands I mean I always use Nitrile gloves as the bikes pickup a lot of road dirt.
HOW DO YOU KNOW WHAT SPOKE IS OUT OF TRUE ¡!!!!!!!??????????
Excellent!

Please, YT, stop translating video titles in local, non-English languages, you always fail miserably. A wheel is not a tire!
