Glad you had a nice time in Liverpool mate, its a poor city money wise, but in friendliness its the richest in the world. Next time look up the Casbah hotel in Haymans Green, West Derby Village, its Pete Bests mums old house & where he, John, Paul & George used the cellar as a youth club, later to be named the Casbah, the clubs still in the cellar, as it was 59/60, but you have to book a tour for that, I worked on it doing the electrical work, heard some fascinating stories from ' Rouge' Petes brother, about the lads,he was actually born with the lads sitting around smoking on the stairs, it should be opening soon.
One other point it was nice seeing a picture of the late great Joe Strummer next to the statue of " The four lads who shook the world " in Mathew St, Joe was a Punk legend who rallied against injustices and the establishment and was a big Lennon fan on the quiet, RIP 🙏 John & George and of course Joe.
The GREATEST ever band who changed the world for the better and then payed a very heavy price from over exposure exhaustion and lack of peace and quiet all humans need. That much pressure on anybody is more than anyone could take for long. Oh how the world needs a reason to smile like they gave us !
it looks like the whole Liverpool is a Beatles museum. They made the city legendary and world famous. After the beatles, the place continued to be well known for its bands specially in the 80s with lotus eaters, echo and the bunnymen, omd and many more.. I love this place even though ive never been there.
I live 60 miles away…i go every few years…you can’t help but remember the Beatles on a visit….buskers singing Beatles stuff..Liverpool accents everywhere…and you think …that blokes putting it on…but he isn’t..most of the time… The whole city is a shrine to the Beatles…i dont know why Disney hasn’t bought the place…therell be a recreation of L1 in Las Vegas next..and Paris..
@Plantie_4K_Travel And another couple of legendary Liverpool bands " Teardrop Explodes" even if Singer Julian Cope grew up in Tamworth, and more recently "Shack " possibly the best Liverpool band after the Beatles with brothers John and Mick Head heading the band which formed after their first band " The Pale Fountains " disbanded in the 1980s.
I was 5 from Boston when they hit USA like a tornado, even that young age it was infectious, the string of hit songs was like nothing before, my first fav was I wanna hold your hand, I still like it 58 yrs later.
I turned 7 the same month they made their American debut on Ed Sullivan Show, Feb. 1964. Remember it like it was yesterday.. Watching with whole family in awe of these 4! Lifelong fan here and still in awe almost 60 years later. I'd say they passed the audition! ❤❤❤❤
There is a statue of them crossing Abbey Road, located in Tlalnepantla, Mexico (it is very large municipio *county in the northern part of Mexico City's metropolitan area)
There's a movie called Violent Playgrounds and stars a very young David McCallum that was filmed in Liverpool (except for the final schoolhouse scene) around 1958-59 and shows alot of the city as it was then when The Beatles were forming and started gigging. Worth watching to get a feel for it then and that influenced them growing up.
Congrats! This Yank had several there from '80 thru '83. Do you remember the old, tin horse trough in "the gents"? Was the older woman still working behind the bar? Don't remember her name.
Ye Crack in Rice St & the Philharmonic pub in Hope St are where John & Paul drank, we used to live in Upper Hope Place, just off Hope St, so I know these pubs & been in them when old enough.
I think they should be on a plinth….have they got one of Paul in the sister city of Rye ? A load of stuff goes on there too..thats another pilgrimage for another day..oh and er don’t forget St John’s Wood in Abbey road.. lorra stuff goin on there too..but London is expensive £12,50p a day just to breathe! I don’t know what goes on at Long Island..similar I suppose..
I am in London at the moment but its only a short visit. I have been inside Abbey Road but that was years ago. I will be back and take a look. Thank you xx
The Eleanor Rigby explanation is quite wrong. The young Beatles would sit at the edge of the church located between John's and Paul's homes, and they noticed the grave marker for Eleanor Rigby in the church grounds (you can still see it today), and the song evolved from that and other thoughts they had while sitting on the fence at the edge of the church grounds.
@@Travel_Breeze Yes I have heard a lot of things with different versions about the beatles ovet years. My eleanpr Rigby version was told to me by a cycling tour operator when I went to Liverpool 18 mths ago. 😀

Because back in 1966 John Lennon died in a car crash and was beheaded so the artist used the image of the replacement John in the sculpture until someone showed him a photo of the real John Lennon so he replaced the head.
The statues of the Four together are quite beautiful, but the single ones… Oh my God, they could be anyone. The statue of John in Liverpool airport is quite awful, looks nothing like him, terrible. Kids with Pongo can do absolutely better.

They're just so beautiful...and their faces are so expressive. Aside from the lovely individual variations, each man looks just like himself.
