Excellent smart mechanic with a very unassuming terrific sense of humor and a beautiful Labrador Retriever to boot - great DIY video! Thank you! Lookin' forward to more!
Whole house filter is a great investment. Installing a reliable fitler right before entering the main pipe. Will keep the house pipe lines from developing pin holes and keeping the appliances, bathroom, showering and the skin in good shape. High mineral deposit is a silent enemy you can avoid before it shows itself.
Eric we put the inline filter on ours, and change it out regularly. Worth every dime. We were shocked how much dirt was coming our “supposed “ clean water. Ugh...
Just dumped one of these. My husband is an electronics tech & can usually fix anything. A very thin sleeve was caught in the gasket & tore a big chunk out of it. He tried to install a new gasket, but it didn't work out & instead he ended up badly slicing his hand. The problem was with the spring & then seating the gasket. So, about 5 years out of a $650 machine. The part was over $100 & repairman started at $175, so we just bought an inexpensive ($450) top loader. At least I won't have to deal with mildew on a gasket anymore ( & probably no more LG's, my brother has replaced his lg fridge 3 times in a few years)
Now soak the other screens and filters in vinegar and you'll have the next replacement if changing the main filter often doesn't work. Have fun stay safe.
I have a well to and what happened to you happened to me, the sediments do get into the valves and keep them closed, I had to replace them, I also put screens in my hoses that connect to the faucets, I also cleaned my water filter every month to make sure the sediment wouldn't clog it so the water that flowed through my pipes wouldn't have the sediments clogging up my other faucets
i got lucky with one of my sink faucets, I was able to turn on and off the supply valve and it dislodge most of the silt Mary. I still have to take apart the shower mixer valve, that will be a thing... - Eric.
Appliance tech here: You're valve was definitely bad, and that's why it kept leaking. The valves were crusty and not sealing properly. No, they aren't cleanable. Now when you have soap in the tray, it shoots water into it and the water displaces the soap, pushing it up and out. It's actually not supposed to fully drain out! The cups are removable so you can easily dump them out afterwards. Very common misconception. If you really want it to drain out, you could drill a super tiny hole at the bottom. I've had customers requests that I do it after I've explained this. One more thing since I'm already ranting: The max line on the cup isn't the max amount of soap you should put in the machine, its actually the maximum amount you can put in the cup before the soap startes to overflow by itself. This is actually like 5-10x more soap than what is needed for even a large load. DO NOT OVER USE SOAP. It only causes problems. It can cause leaking, error codes, incomplete cycles and much more. Not to mention the over use of soap is the top reason you washer smells bad. When you use too much, it gets coated in-between the inner and outer tub where it gets moldy. You also need to keep the door open and wipe down the gasket after a cycle to keep it from getting moldy. Use AFFRESH once a month on the 'Clean washer' cycle or whatever hottest cycle you have is (Usually sanatize.) This will help boil out some of the old soap scum.
Thanks a lot for this great video!!! it actually solve my problem. Thanks a lot you really gave save me. I was about to schedule a technician. Thanks a lot for great videos.
Great video. I wouldn't worry about the lighting. I agree with most. I would have tried to clean first sinece the replacements aren't cheap and then kept them for backups if claeaning only showd little improvement. Well water in Ohio often has sediment also. That reminds me, I need to clean my filter. Add that to the honey-do list.
What is the name of that part called? I'm having the same issue with my washer. I would like to get it on order before the washer completely faills and floods my laundry room
It would be cool to at least take apart the valve to see how bad the build up. Might give a better idea as to weather or not cleaning them is really worth trying.
Yeah Danny, hard water will do that. our well water is pretty good, but lots of silt from the boring of the hole through granite. But at least we have water, not everyone does. thx! eric.
Put CLR in your soap drawer and run a clean machine cycle...no clothes. CLR or toilet bowl cleaner will remove the build up from the old valves that will probably work just fine afterwards.
I think your washer is the victim, the real problem is that filter which looks like it should have been changed long long ago. I have a whole house filter similar to yours but I've never let it get to the point where it is dark brown with mud clumped on it. How long does it take to like that? When was it last replaced? ...or checked?
Forgive me for wishing bad things but I was hoping your problem was going to be the Front Door Seal thingy cos that is a b**!$!! to fit. Comes off very easily but.
OR the front door hinges! that one happened to me a few years back. That door seal is problematic, i imagine it will be the next thing to go. Doing my cardio, FYI. - Eric.

Simply Genius. Thank God for this man

Excellent! You can spend time cleaning it, it better to learn from it, put additional inline filter on the washer line
Yes, I think that would help. Thx!

I like lechabotte' idea of adding a filter right behind at the washer, has me thinking...

I would try to fix it, as back-up parts. Ps change your filter offten or get the kind you can rise off.
Yes, I have to replace more often. Thx! Eric
interesting how the valves were sealed plastic. good idea to take them apart. thx!
Now soak the other screens and filters in vinegar and you'll have the next replacement if changing the main filter often doesn't work. Have fun stay safe.
Excellent tip, thanks Rose I still have the parts and will do this. thx! eric.
Love this thank you. I've done several fixes on our LG washing machine and dryer thanks to youtube!
If you have a hot water tank(as opposed to an on demand water heater) you may want to flush it out over time also.
We have a core heater inside our oil fired hot water furnace. Buy yes, good advice, sediment will shorten the life of a water heater. Thx!
Thanks for the video. I am having the soap dispenser issuer. But we also have really dirty city water. I will check those filters.

Yeah Larrry, I have to be better at replacing the filter. I think it jammed up the shower valve as well. Thx!
GardenFork it will Eric. The sediment nailed out bathroom faucets. Ugh.

😅😂you are really funny. I love your DYI (real-time)

Fantastic info Jacob, thx for sharing all this. I do keep the door open. Learned the hard way. Thx!
Expensive, but better then replacing the whole washer or one by on, which is more expensive!! You go 👍🏼

I did this recently to mine , the valve was bad quick $50 fix part from GE
You're pretty funny! I loved watching this video! And it helped so much thank you !!
Glad it helped!
Good job
Nice truck in your photo there Andrey, thx! eric.
thank you
Excellent - thanks
Where can I buy a replacement valve
What is the name of that part called? I'm having the same issue with my washer. I would like to get it on order before the washer completely faills and floods my laundry room
it is a solenoid valve or water inlet valve
@@gardenfork thank you
Thanks 🙏 🙏 🙏
Thank you, we're very appreciative... Excellent video on this issue 👏

I thought of that afterward I posted the video and had tossed the old valves. 🤔 thx! Eric.
Do all wells have filters?
No, but ours always has. It all depends on what you drill through. Thx!
Steep it over 2 days in White Vinegar this should clean it
Cleaned mine, problem remains
Done is better than perfect ? This WAS perfect ! :-)
Funny when it works 😀
Explained very well Thank u so much
My dad has a well his water is supposed to be soft water it eats up all the facets and the water heater has to be replaced about every 3 4 years.
Yeah Danny, hard water will do that. our well water is pretty good, but lots of silt from the boring of the hole through granite. But at least we have water, not everyone does. thx! eric.
I needed help I'm only 12
Replace your house filter twice per year.
Что делать если в выключенную стиральную машину набирается вода
Put CLR in your soap drawer and run a clean machine cycle...no clothes.
CLR or toilet bowl cleaner will remove the build up from the old valves that will probably work just fine afterwards.
Good tip! Have to try that. Thx!

Just dealt with that unsuccessfully, (read my above comment)
I’ve changed the gasket and you’re right. A serious challenge. Took me 3 tries, but I eventually worked out the right approach to get enough leverage.
If it wasn’t that bad you could backwash it.
Yeah that thing was toast. Thx!
