a big part of the issue is that while they made the 5090 "not for hardcore gamers", they REMOVED their 24GB offering altogether. yes we can assume they'll make something with that sometime, but in the meantime, they basically said "we've only got 16GB for you if you're not a content creator or AI trainer." and honestly it makes their 5080 unattractive in general, when you can just get an A770 and get 2/3ds the way there with the same vram, or soon to be the 24GB battlemage that'll demolish the 5090 for value in light workstation/midtier gaming setups.
The thing is...they ARE selling...and since Nvidia stops production, sells out of 50 series cards super fast, scalpers continue to scalp....then 4090s will CONTINUE to be over msrp until the 60 series...this also applies to lower end 40 series...I don't see anything changing unless more stock comes...
Remember Wednesday when you were all giddy about the 9070 supposedly getting somewhere between 4070 and 4080 performance for like the sane price as a 5070? Pepperidge farm remembers.
The 570 does make sense for extremely budget oriented builders. 20-30 dollars is the difference between 500gb and 1tb storage, or 4200 mhz and 5200 mhz ram, or no wifi card and a good 6e card. Or apparently most importantly a 3000 series and a 5000 series CPU (used of course). At the end of the day for most people, every dollar counts and I know people will appreciate it even if the influencers don't.
@UserGreenCrab I have built a couple systems with an Rx 580 for people. They are tickled pink that it runs fortnite and was a complete system for 400 bucks. I am not sure how I should feel about the B580 overhead. Intel stated that it needed resizable bar (ReBAR) activated to function within their published performance. The, from what I have seen, tested CPUs were select CPUs that didn't have ReBAR on their initial release, but had gotten it through BIOS updates. Has this discussion blown out of the proportion? I'd like to compare the CPU/motherboard with a car and the GPU with fuel. If I have a car that doesn't burn a specific type of new fuel well, despite the fuel stating that it needs some form of mechanism, should I be frustrated by it?
I think the argument that the 5090 should be considered a different class of card to the rest of the 5000 series loses some credibility when they're bringing back the Titan this generation.
Just saw 2 Intel B580's in the wild at Cincinnati MicroCenter, Thursday. Almost grabbed one. They had a ton of CPU's but most of the other GPU's were gone.
I agree about getting the 5090 out of the "gaming" conversation. I feel like nvidia would've done themselves a lot of PR good by just reclassing it as a Titan card--basically market the 5080 as the highest end gaming card and call the 5090/Titan card the content creator/pro card.
I agree...the 5090 is so immensely OP with it's specs. It's soo impressive it doesn't fit my application of 1440p gaming, I can hit that 1440p mark at a MUCH lower price point. Plus I don't have to trip my electrical breaker in my office because of the 1000w power supply its going to require to power that beast. These top tier GPU's are becoming the "gas guzzler's" in the technology space. I wish they would do more "innovation" in that space so connections aren't melting. THAT would seems like SOUND innovation. Much Love @UFD Tech!
Power consumption is a reason I love my 4060 laptop. Good enough performance for me and it’s all under 200w. When I’m throttling it, I can play a lot of games around 100w. Obviously, not a priority to many, but when I hear about a 600w GPU, it’s enough to just not be interested in it.
Just buy the old onexplayer 2 6800u. The price is nearly cut in half (500$). Sure it uses the 680m but with more power limit, it's surprisingly faster than the z1 extreme 780m. And you'd get 50% more battery(65whr), detachable controllers , and bigger screen.
B570 with slight overclock seem to close most that gap on the b580 speeds. And the price difference is 50$ with AIB models, only the mythical reference models are 29$ price difference. Gap gets bigger with all the AIB models
Bret, people would get the 4070 bc of availability of the newer cards going to be scalped/marked up and possible 2nd hand discounts. Ironically nvidia's move will open up the 7800 xt in that performance segment; may be some of the reason why amd didn't launch to capitalize on nvidia creating false scarcity.
The 5080, 5070ti, and 5070 also have gddr7. The 5080 die is about half as powerful as the die on the 5090. Still don't understand your statement about gddr7 being more expensive seeing that seems to have very little to do with why the large price difference between the 5090 and 5080, not saying it's not a factor but the performance of the die itself is a much bigger factor
If nVidia don't want the 5090 compared to the 5070-5080, they should put it in a different product range. They've put it in their gaming card range so it will be discussed as one
I'm genuinely curious how Nintendo will continue with consoles in the future - it really seems like they can only give us more upgraded switches which just feels underwhelming to me.
I think nvidia is going to make a 5080ti because there is more than enough of a gap there. Not to mention 16 gb vram feels rather small for a supposed gaming flagship.
I kind of feel like the Switch 2 should have used the first generation AMD Z chips. My ROG Ally X is amazing, and having that power in a new Switch just would have made more sense to me.
Looking forward to all the videos showing how to install Android on the Switch 2, and Nomind-o not breaking the law with illegal DMCA takedowns against creators who can't afford to defend themselves.
I bought a generation old rx6950xt for like $500. Can't really do ray tracing, and some games at 4k are just a little too slow, but I don't really play the high end AAA games anyway. Everything i do play runs at 90 to 350+ fps. There are a few minor graphical glitches in some games, but nothing in elon to spend hundreds of dollars to avoid.
You know what... Because Nintendo has been so evil with patent stuff lately, Lenovo should hit them for the "optical mouse in Detachable Controller" design. Sure it's on a different side, but Lenovo did it first. AND Lenovo's controllers attached directly onto the sides avoiding the JoyCon patent of sliding-on. Lenovo should hit Nintendo for that as well.
@@mikedropmeta yeah for sure also the controllers on legion are so light compared to the Joy con . and better overall just the only thing that I don’t like is the space between the LB and the RT . I hope the switch 2 is better
Nintendo makes games for kids, and kids don't really care about graphics or frame rates. They like colors, flashes, sounds, movement, interactions, characters. And Nintendo excels at that so they can afford putting whatever graphics they want on their console.
Hey Brett! Something weird just happened when clicking on your video and I wanned to let you know. Instead of left clicking, I used wheel click to open the video in the new tab and it wouldn't let me. Instead of opening the video it kept opening this google article "product placement" page. I tried doing it like 10 times and gave up, had to click on the video to play it instead of just opening it in another tab.
2 years ago I bought a 6950xt for 650€. I'm looking to upgrade this gen. I wonder how much I would need to spend to actually get an upgrade... I don't think I can even get the same level of performance for the same money today...
As Daniel Owen said the problem is nVidia throws fg and upscaling together. I'm aware upscaling will be better and good job to them but last gen frame gen was as trash as the internet says it is and even if it will be less trash now, nvidia throwing it at the announcement as actual performance and comparing to non fg results of older cards is an insult to everyone and unacceptable. It should be treated like trash regardless of what it is!
"They're not pushing to have the Highest Graphics, That's never been their M.O" The last time It was their MO We got the Nintendo GameCube. Great Console but it's their second worst selling Home Console. (Not counting addons like the 64DD or Portables like the Virtual-Boy)

I don' think in my local area the retailers will be able to clear the 4070/super before end of January/beginning of February, several retailers still have a good amount or plenty in stock, some of them even have models at or around 100+ in stock, also for the 4070ti super models. UNLESS they discount them!
I suspect the 50 series supply probably won't keep up with demand at first, so the 40 series (even without much/any discount) will probably comparatively look like a better deal for a little while after the 50 series launch. Especially if reviews show only small gains.
I would not unless you are frustrated with what you have performance wise. Do you need little bump to get smooth performance (or whatever you are after)? I'd hold for 16GB, either 6800xt or 6950xt.
Switch 2 needs analog triggers for driving like in Maroi Kart and so many other things, the GameCube controller was amazing because of them, Nintendo decided to forget about them ever since
Bought a 3070Ti during the chip shortage. 5090 is going to be a baller upgrade for about double the price I paid back then. I wonder how many times better it'll be. I can't wait!
And I'm still gaming on an Xbox One S. It's kind of confusing to realize that a mobile device that costs just as much as my Xbox can perform better than it.
I get that the b570 price wise compared to the b580 is the equivalent of cheaping out on an f suffix for a cpu compared to the same gen and performance tier without the f suffix. But even i would rather have a b580 than a b570.
Sony saw the big publishers like EA and Activision raking in billions every year and wanted some of that pie. They lost focus on what made them great, leading to an entire console generation with no new and/or exclusive games. Both Xbox and Playstation seem to have forgotten that games define a console, not the other way round. The Switch was so weak that it couldn't even run some games, yet it sold more than Xbox and Playstation combined because of a strong lineup of first and third-party games throughout it's life. As long as they continue with the same mindset with the Switch 2, they'll be fine regardless how weak or strong it is. Had the other two companies done the same, we wouldn't have Xbox going the way of Sega and Sony scrambling for a success today.
I don't think they're directly going to talk about the console before April, but I do think The Pokemon Company will show some gameplay for games coming to the Switch 2 in February and I would be surprised if Mar10 day didn't even acknowledge Switch 2 games that may or may not launch in 2025.
We would have better raw fps in games if developers optimised there games better…Id software are masters of optimisation. High FPS without dlss frame gen in Doom eternal
People still leaving comments that it isn't breakfast time when they watch and claiming that they watch every video... Brett has addressed this several times over many videos. I guess trolls just gotta troll....

0:41 I Feel like they're using a cut down chip from 3 years ago because it will make these products nice and cheap (Effectively the 8 core 6800HS/U cut down to 4 cores but you need to get drivers from the device manufacturer instead of AMD) Manufacture wise its not much more than the Steam Deck 6nm SOC and could be found in miniPCs 3 years ago for ~$500 with 32GB of RAM and 1TB SSD I would be surprised if there arent any handhelds with the Z2 GO with 24GB of RAM/512GB SSD under $550 I really hope this is a new dedicated 4 core 12CU die, rather than being a 6800H cut down Alternatively if it is a 6800HS cut down to 4 cores, dont disable half the unified L3 cache like they do with the 4 core Ryzen 3 7335U that added cache greatly improves efficiency and this is quite important in handhelds, also frees up a little bit of RAM cycles for the GPU to use but mostly i want it for longer battery life.
B580 is currently available on Canadian Newegg and it's cheaper than both the 7600 and 4060 (though there is one 7600 model $30 CAD below the B580).
19:28 *That stuff we give you* 😂
The 5080, 5070ti, and 5070 also have gddr7. The 5080 die is about half as powerful as the die on the 5090. Still don't understand your statement about gddr7 being more expensive seeing that seems to have very little to do with why the large price difference between the 5090 and 5080, not saying it's not a factor but the performance of the die itself is a much bigger factor
Seeing an overclocked Switch demonstrated Nintendo could get better performance out of these processors but are choosing not to.
Ive already placed my Falcon NW order with the 5090. I can make my 3 2k monitors go vroom
Two watches and a ring-wowza. Please tell me why tech mans've got the tech?
Imagine finding a 4070 on sale for $400.
I just got one for $506 so maybe we’ll see a few be under $500 soon
True Brett about nintendo, and how they are not focusing on graphics as much. Breath of the Wild also ran on Wii U.
I think nvidia is going to make a 5080ti because there is more than enough of a gap there. Not to mention 16 gb vram feels rather small for a supposed gaming flagship.
so you're saying, if i put faster ram in the legion go s, it would become the legion go x?
Ai frames will cause input lag in games like Cod. Stop trying to justify the 5090 card and the rest
REBIRTHHHHHHHH 😫😩😩
I dislike the Switch growing in size.
A handheld should be small. Else I might as well take a laptop with me
Nintendo makes games for kids, and kids don't really care about graphics or frame rates.
I tried doing it like 10 times and gave up, had to click on the video to play it instead of just opening it in another tab.
if USA wanted limit chipset for nvidia that mean 50 series will go up in price
How is the first comment two hours before the video got released?

Allegedly the Switch 2 is Ampere not Turing. 30 series GPU not 20. Also GDDR7 is on all 50 series cards. Nvidia's own website so.
"They're not pushing to have the Highest Graphics, That's never been their M.O"
The last time It was their MO We got the Nintendo GameCube.
Great Console but it's their second worst selling Home Console. (Not counting addons like the 64DD or Portables like the Virtual-Boy)
Any new product now for me would be consider a huge upgrade for me. 4790k + GTX 1080 😅 30% for you is probably 300% for me.
5060 next best card to use as a second pc media card for editing and stream encoding only thing id consider replacing my rx 7600 8gb going forward.
Wish Nvidia would make a new shield tv with switch 2 soc. Would make a great device for games and streaming. They could also make a handheld for GeForce now streaming too.
Hope all is good on the personal reasons front
5090 is a workstation card first. Never meant to be a gamer card originally.
@@JamesCusano perhaps, time will tell😄
So wait they're not release it until sometime after April 2nd? It feels like it's never gonna come out 😅
Just saw wootware selling 6750 xt 12GB for about 7k. Dont know if its worth upgrading from 6600 xt.
I would not unless you are frustrated with what you have performance wise. Do you need little bump to get smooth performance (or whatever you are after)?
I'd hold for 16GB, either 6800xt or 6950xt.
Golden Snake Edition, really?
Not Wooden Snake Edition?
You are right, it's the wood element year 😮
Switch 2 needs analog triggers for driving like in Maroi Kart and so many other things, the GameCube controller was amazing because of them, Nintendo decided to forget about them ever since
I enjoyed my breakfast.
It was blueberry pancakes, and I blame you for that.
Yet another that had breakfast watching the Brettfast of this video😂😂😂
If you listen closely I think it's closer to BrettFest.
Bought a 3070Ti during the chip shortage. 5090 is going to be a baller upgrade for about double the price I paid back then. I wonder how many times better it'll be. I can't wait!
416$ for desk frame 💀 i literally got from Amazon for 100€ leg's and went to my local shop bought 200x80 wood plate for 80€ 😂😂😂
And I'm still gaming on an Xbox One S. It's kind of confusing to realize that a mobile device that costs just as much as my Xbox can perform better than it.
Can't wait for switch 2 users to run into the same performance issues as the first one a year in. 😂
I get that the b570 price wise compared to the b580 is the equivalent of cheaping out on an f suffix for a cpu compared to the same gen and performance tier without the f suffix. But even i would rather have a b580 than a b570.
the ally and ally x are basically the same performance wise meaning that the legion go s is pointless.. you can already buy the ally z1e for 499
I want that case but I already have a SFX PSU and AIO. 😢
If the FlexiSpot is a standing desk, is it more of a desk or a stand? If you stand at a stand, why isn't a desk called a sit? 🤔
UFD Tech: Covers Switch 2
Nintendo: Demonetized
Oooooooh! DRAGON! I that it ment the other kind of 'D'.
The only thing that 120 mm radiator is going to be good for is reselling to some other sucker
its 5 oclock here i watch your every video and always its not breakfast time :(
No worry, we will make fun of rtx 5060, 5060 ti, 5070 and 5080 😂
I want a Switch 2. I usually get one expensive electronic thing each year that I'd like to have.
We would have better raw fps in games if developers optimised there games better…Id software are masters of optimisation. High FPS without dlss frame gen in Doom eternal
I wanted a 7900 GRE so badly.
People still leaving comments that it isn't breakfast time when they watch and claiming that they watch every video... Brett has addressed this several times over many videos. I guess trolls just gotta troll....
Indeed. We are Festing here people, not Fasting!
I watch every video and it's always breakfast time for me. 🤔
cant find a way to enter for pc give away
Crazy on my M4 macbook pro I have windows 11 pro on a VM and I can do anything on there including accessing my mac system files and can transfer data between the VM and my macbook.
I’m glad that I bought the 4070 super, a massive upgrade from my 3060 ti. Rip
Imagine if Parallels could let you run SteamOS on an M4 Mac.
Huh, Maybe my 4070 will end up being able to be sold for 600 Canadian when I get my 5070TI then XD
0:41 I Feel like they're using a cut down chip from 3 years ago because it will make these products nice and cheap (Effectively the 8 core 6800HS/U cut down to 4 cores but you need to get drivers from the device manufacturer instead of AMD)
Manufacture wise its not much more than the Steam Deck 6nm SOC and could be found in miniPCs 3 years ago for ~$500 with 32GB of RAM and 1TB SSD
I would be surprised if there arent any handhelds with the Z2 GO with 24GB of RAM/512GB SSD under $550
I really hope this is a new dedicated 4 core 12CU die, rather than being a 6800H cut down
Alternatively if it is a 6800HS cut down to 4 cores, dont disable half the unified L3 cache like they do with the 4 core Ryzen 3 7335U that added cache greatly improves efficiency and this is quite important in handhelds, also frees up a little bit of RAM cycles for the GPU to use but mostly i want it for longer battery life.
(there was never a 6000 branded ryzen 3 before the 6000 series was re-branded to 7x35)
Considering no one knows the real performance of the 50xx because its mostly AI uplifted I would be skeptical...
Legeon Go S 799$
Same Price
Rog Ally X. 799$
Right?
Once my 3080 12gb can’t perform anymore I’m done gaming I’m not paying a $1000 for a gpu, f em.
