A question I would like to ask Jake is, the Bulls opt NOT to kick to posts and had 4 kickable penalties (12 points) in the first 30min. Is that a coaching strategy or did the players decide that course of action!
Jake, I’m going to try and put it as sympathetic as possible: the team plays as if it is under coached and appears to be disjointed. Forwards are easily isolated. Poor, poor, breakdown, poor defence and poor maul execution. The backs were without variety and plans. These are not new problems. The team needs a good 4 and 6. Wilco emphasised what a risk it is to select him. He made several mistakes, including 3 knock ons. Kriel was ineffective, Gans was twice exposed on the defence - probably due to a lack of game time. Discipline seems to be a problem. The number of captains that were used might have played a role in this.
Hi Izak. This is a balanced comment, thank you. I can't stand it when coaches or players get called names, a"disgrace", the "worst ever" etc. Talk about the rugby, don't attack the person.
@megafoonsport but for sure you can critique the strategy ..it's a home game and Whatever long term plans are in place you have to reward fans ..Or Alternatively if you have chosen to sacrifice the Euro Cup ..no worries my side . But I ..not Jake am paying money for that ...
Am sure,Jake was furious in that dressing room after the game .The players are to blame. And what was up with Wilco Louw coming into the line on at least 3 occasion s ,and could not catch the ball,to save his life !!! Only Hannekom played well for the Bulls.
Nice of Jake too admit that mistakes were made. People must realize that this NH Saints team is really good and they played very well at altitude in the heat.
Bulls are a disgrace to South Africa- that was an embarrassment. How Rassie produces with the low quality provincial setups is a question- it cannot last forever, the provinces need to step up
Both those team didn't send their best players. You only need to win two games to qualify for the knockouts (probably) but that's as far as it will go I'm afraid. It's not over but it will be an uphill battle
Hard to find results with the balance of such two difficult competitions. Don’t know why we being backlashed because it’s not like the other franchises are doing much better then us .
We already knew Bulls not good enough for big league rugby (euro cup), Jake has been telling his team for 3 years they just not good enough, no matter some epic victories in the past. They finally were convinced by him, and they delivered big time with one of worst losses at Loftus. Now we out of big league, back to little league = bulletjies URC rugby against the Sharks. At least we already know Jake's losing speech: we lost against the Bok team, they have too much money, too sweaty in Durban, we had to travel again, etc. Maybe the problem is not the players being out of their depth and found wanting, but the coaching team just not good enough to take the next step, running out of ideas. Jake had a good few years with a few titles and x2 finals, but looks like he hit his ceiling. Bring in someone else that can inspire the current crop to dream big and wants to go big, Ackers or bring HM back, or Franco?
@@megafoonsport That's fair enough, everyone is entitled to their own opinion and we can't all agree otherwise it'd be boring. I wish him the best but he needs to focus on the rugby and stop talking so much random nonsense, it's pointless and no fan benefits from this. The constant moaning about money and travelling (he and Plumtree) is far off the mark because it's irrelevant, the scrums were poor (for Bulls standard), the physicality lacked heavily, handling errors were atrocious and line outs dismal - that is his area and he needs to focus on that. He moans non-stop about the players holiday leave and stuff like this and he has this thing where he answers journalists like a teacher by their name all the time - very condescending. When you have a conversation with someone, you don't mention his name five times in the same sentence....focus on coaching and error rate and how you justify 61% possession and 69% territory with such a loss - not grandfather stories about who he has to give holidays to and all the side show crap no one cares about. Come on MW stand up for the fans in those press booths, you guys are way to soft on the coaches! Both you and Brenden do the same with Jake, you ask the easy questions you know the answers to and don't put him to the sword on our behalf!
Unprofessional mindset at the Bulls. The players aren't responding to Jake anymore. Its a shame because he's a proven coach. Players are ill diciplined.
The reality; Jake White's comments are as if he observes everything from some universe where he has no part of it; Bulls were humiliated by a better COACHED team - players that outhink their opponents - against the one dimensional, no ball skills Bulls team.
You guys forget that this same coach you turning on has taken us to 2 finals . Yes we haven’t won them but, if you look at the success of how South African teams have played in the URC the bulls can’t be the only ones judged . Sharks , lions have also not won the competition yet alone sharks having a terrible spell last season in the urc . It could have been worse , Jake had won more Currie Cup’s at this club that some coaches would have won in their entire career . Give the guy more respect guys , there needs to be balance in the squad
Hi Brett. I have definitely not turned on Jake and have made that abundantly clear over a long period if time. For me that hasn't changed. There is however a strong feeling out there that all our franchise coaches are struggling, and we have to be aware of that. Having said that, my feeling is that the Bulls are very close to clicking with one or two fixes, which André Pretorius and I discussed in depth this week
Chin up boys. Losing at home is not lekker but I blame the ridiculous schedule and I feel our rugby manne are way over played. Get out of the champions cup and let’s focus on the URC. Send the young up and coming guys to play the next two games and roll the dice. I would way prefer a UTC trophy
Look I know the Bulls will not win this competition but blaiming lack of leadership and test experience is not good enough. There is enough experience on that team sheet to win atleast your home games. The last year or 2 the bulls went backwards as the experience got more. So I think there is something missing. I would start with the general, Johan Goosen. If you hard Pollard there as an example with those forwards it will be a different bulls team. Its not just him its also the culture. The culture needs a change. Culture is set by the coaching group. 🤷
I love Jake and what he has built over the last few years. But these mistakes are not new. These are seasons old errors. I've kept faith, but the last two weeks the Bulls look like amateurs. That's coaching.
Jake, have you reached the fase in your coaching where you show no improvement? Have you run out of ideas? Talk talk talk, yes, you are right. But boy aren't the Bulls the slowest learners. Chris Rossouw is not a Tier 1 coach. Since the URC final, the same mistakes are being made with no improvement. Bulls pls. get Franco Smit in. Jake remember....what Franco said. Attitude is more important than altitude!
I don't think so. I think the SA coaches are being asked to doing to do the impossible. I refer to John Plumtree's comments for example. If we need to compete in Europe and play for 12 months a year, a rethink is necessary. Budgets, player pools, travelling. As it is, we can never be successful no matter how hard we try.
@@megafoonsport you are correct take for example the french clubs Toulouse budget is 1 billion rand a year and we are only allowed 85mil make the sum and you will see were the problem is
Jake has lost the change room. Time to move on Jake. How do we think we can give away penalties, miss tackles, mess up the set phases and get away against a top side with this rubbish of playing on the gain line? Even small things like passing accuracy was a mess. No Jake get your coaches sorted and start wining it's all that counts.. or move on to yet another team.
SA teams played in the URC final three years in a row. Bulls have 4 out 5 URC games this season. Yes, two bad games but let's not throw out the baby with the bathwater.
