I’m in on Cam ward as well but I’m not ok with giving up what it would take to trade up to the #1 pick to get him. We screwed up winning that game at the end of the season that’s on us. We draft whoever is the best player available at 3 do NOT trade up for Cam! Not worth it!
I like what you have here Marshall. For me, this is the best case scenario: -Sign Trey Smith and Tee Higgins (like you said) -Draft Travis Hunter at 3. He'll be CB1 and WR3. If Travis Hunter is your 3rd best WR, then speaks bodly to how good your offense can be. - DraftJaxson Dart in the 2nd round, and even move back into the 1st round of need be. I like what I've seen from him at Ole Miss. He has enough tools to work with to be a good QB in this league. -Use the remaining cap $ you have to sign a veteran QB and but I'd be prepared to start Jaxson Dart from day 1. An upgraded O Line, Malik, Tee, and Travis as your WR core, and TT and Singletary as your RBs. That is honestly as good of a situation a Rookie QB can find themselves in Thats just me though.
I agree with this!! BUT I don’t know about Hunter playing both sides of the ball.. Like Chad Johnson said NFL teams will just run Hunter on go routes and tire him out.. if the giants can figure that out I would 100% be in favor of this scenario!

I just can't believe it is taking so long to fix the o line when it's been a problem at least two years before Eli retired the trenches on both sides of the ball is just as important as the quarterback position period
The oline wasn't a major issue until at got hurt prob just need to upgrade a guard spot i would say center but they definitely giving jms one more year and definitely need to upgrade the depth which is the most important
The Giants desperately need a RT. Neal can't pass pro, period. He needs to be the third OT at best, but I don't know if I'd ever trust him on the QB's blind side. I would only support trading down from 3 if both QB's are gone and they don't want the consensus best player in the draft, and only for their favorite OT. Yes, they need a CB1, but Hunter would fill that bill. with the bonus of possibly contributing to the offense, too.
Leonard left a big hole on that line and it wasn't addressed by the GM!. Made it hard to stop the run. The defense was better than the offense and that dude still has a job.

yeah idk what FA options there are for DT but we need a quality starter next to Dex. Maybe some depth too (Davidson and Riley are draft picks that probably haven't worked out). I've seen some mocks, this channel included, having the Giants select a DT in Round 2. I'd be happy with that; that's another option for the Giants. I think I heard this is a good DT class. And the one position the Giants have actually historically had success drafting is DT (Linval Joseph, Jonathan Hankins, Dalvin Tomlinson were Round 2 picks, Dex round 1 obviously)
B+ You cooked hard with this, Marsh. You've sold me on Dennis Allen; nice stat sheet and we 💯 need someone to up our DB skills, esp in TOs. The way GVR was talking the other day, he seems like he wants to come back next year. I'm obv not opposed to bolstering our line, but we need depth there as much as we need solid starters, and if you're putting 20m/yr into a RG, you're planning like we're a contender, which maybe we can be, but we still need money invested in a DL and CB vet which I feel should've been discussed here bc it's a necessity. Higgins is easily the best FA available, but is he the most reliable missing 5 games the last two years for that price tag? We need consistency more than anything. Chris Godwin didn't have a single drop this season. Hopkins had only 2 and the latter would be cheaper at his age with amazing tutelage for Leek. They would both be in my top 3 for WR acquisitions. Lastly, I think Fields can be great, but although he'd be one of my top picks if we can't get our QB in the draft, he's not my first pick for a bridge. I want a vet like Mariota or Carr, who will bring quality and value as well as mentorship for a young new potential franchise QB.
I do love this plan. And I think a lot of giants fans are unified on that. However, I will say 1CB is a major priority. IMO it’s more important than getting a WR2. If you have to go cheaper in WR2 and get a guy like Cooper, so be it, but CB1 has to be a priority. If you can’t get Ward, there is an option of drafting Hunter as CB1 and drafting Milroe or Dart in 2nd round and seeing if Daboll can make something out of them.
I agree I think Higgins will be too expensive. They should draft or sign a big body WR no doubt, and let Hyatt and Slayton go, unless Slayton is willing to re-sign for cheap. I'm sure some good talent will be available for under 20M per season that will be better than Hyatt and Slayton combined.

I would love this scenario if this happened. Use second RD pick to get a DL run stopper next to Dex and after that target CB and BPA. You are right about the CB, zero question. But with the right DC, better zone D instead of a man coverage and hopefully a dent CB we can draft or sign and we can be a decent team on the way up. Then build from there. I just hope Joe does not screw this up. This is the most important year. (Sorry so long lol)
If Dabol can get a QB like a Josh Allen, who he doesn't have to force to make throws over 10 or 15 yards all year, he can create a competitive team even in the first year.

Also, I'm not paying a WR $30 mil and he plays 12 games a season, no way! I like the Fields move. Draft Cam Ward, how? We couldn't move up last year, how are we gonna do that this year? Give up 3 1st round picks? No!
You know what, I'm speaking hypothetically here because we don't know what's going to happen, but you sign guys like Tee Higgins and Trey Smith, it could lessen the blow a little bit of having to give up future draft capital to trade up for a QB because those guys (as long as they're healthy) can fill holes for you for a 4-5 year span of a rookie QB contract. Not that it's not going to be a blow regardless but if those guys continue their level of play throughout their contracts (a big if, I know), at least you won't have quite as many holes to fill, and by the time you need to fill those holes again you'll have the draft capital. Not to mention if you're bad in 2025 like everyone predicts, and the QB class is highly regarded in 2026 like many predict, you can recoup the 1st round draft pick by trading back in that draft to a QB-needy team

Let the chips where they do and take best player at 3..or trade back and grab extra picks and build WR room and OL. Take someone like Dart in the 2nd or 3rd and try to sign J. Fields. If possible trade for J.J., try for Winston as Bridge guy, draft best available at 3 or whenever (if 3 wasnt needed for J.J) and yes FIRE BOWEN & get Allen, sign best available interior O lineman & good back up Tackle. And bring in a above average DB.
Even if you take Hunter, Banks is useless. He can’t cover me in a game of touch football. I was recommending honey badger for the defense overall, to get a veteran presence in there. Because a guy like Higgins on WR is way too pricey, and isn’t going to want to play second fiddle unless he is on a winning team with a good QB. A decent CB is a must regardless of whether we draft Hunter, and we need another WR in FA too. We literally cannot play press coverage and give our guys a chance to get to the QB because our CBs are terrible. Phillips has been decent but is still really young. Draft Hunter, get another CB in the draft and one in FA. Get honey badger to help with the secondary. Draft a WR in the first 4 rounds, and add one in FA. Draft a QB in the second round, because I’m sorry Marsh, but giving up ANY capital this go around isn’t going to fly. Not for Ward or Sanders. Maybe if Schoen had drafted well, I may say different, but he sucks at drafting. Period. Address the needs, don’t give an inch, don’t reach, ADDRESS THE NEEDS. 1-Ward if he’s there, or Hunter 2-QB/OT/CB, best available 3-WR/OL/CB, best available 4-CB/WR/TE, best available 5-TE/OL/S, best available 6-WR/RB/DL, best available 7-whatever you didn’t address above FA priority should be 1. Bridge QB, resign Lock or someone to take the helm for cheap until your pick is ready or till next year when you draft Arch. 2. CB 3. WR (don’t go crazy with a Higgins type) 10-12m per tops 4. A guy like Honey Badger to mentor the defense 5. Offensive line!!! You will need 20m to do this. You should be leaving 1/3 of your cap space to literally tackle this.
As you said, the OLine is critical. We have Higgins in Malik and Slayton at 50% off. You don't like him but how many yards with Burrow throwing? he's fixed dropping, gets free and has 15yd/catch as #2 to Malik's 10yd. He will keep double /triple off Malik and won't break the bank. It is the most likely scenario if the top two QB's go 1 and 2. Can't reach for QB3 there, so it's Hunter, who fills TWO huge needs, even if his WR work will be very limited, at least at first. He needs to be our lock-down CB1, and it should be the main focus. If he's as great as he's been so far, then Daboll can incorporate him into the receiving core sooner and with greater frequency depending how he performs at CB.

I feel like you’ve gotta add a solid CB in free agency too. Maybe a cheaper vet is the better way to go at WR to keep space open for that.
Cheap gets you cheap results. There’s a premium on quality and if you want the quality you have to pay the premium.
Our WRs and CB room are both young so we can’t go wrong. Splash with a pricey vet on 1 and use the draft for the other.

B.. not that far off, QB/DB biggest need ! A ol or two a stud Wr( we have a lot of potentials) don’t needa give up on our kicker..
You know what, I'm speaking hypothetically here because we don't know what's going to happen, but you sign guys like Tee Higgins and Trey Smith, it could lessen the blow a little bit of having to give up future draft capital to trade up for a QB because those guys (as long as they're healthy) can fill holes for you for a 4-5 year span of a rookie QB contract. Not that it's not going to be a blow regardless but if those guys continue their level of play throughout their contracts (a big if, I know), at least you won't have quite as many holes to fill, and by the time you need to fill those holes again you'll have the draft capital. Not to mention if you're bad in 2025 like everyone predicts, and the QB class is highly regarded in 2026 like many predict, you can recoup the 1st round draft pick by trading back in that draft to a QB-needy team
We have to hope that Smith and Higgins would wanna sign here
Agree with all takes except doing whatever it takes to get Ward or Sanders for that matter. Let the chips where they do and take best player at 3..or trade back and grab extra picks and build WR room and OL. Take someone like Dart in the 2nd or 3rd and try to sign J. Fields. JF under Daboll could be lethal imo.

Trey Smith is a perfect in free agent investment . … I like Higgins and Godwin as well , but would rather invest in Fields as QB 1 next season

3. Sign Justin Fields
4. Hire new DC.. hire Dorsey as new OC
5. Sign a top WR

I don't agree with signing Higgins. Def get Trey Smith. Skattebo Rd 4 gives another playmaker. Tracy and Skattebo in the backfield with Jalen Milroe that's scary. If they Draft Hunter at 3 you got 5 playmakers

If possible trade for J.J., try for Winston as Bridge guy, draft best available at 3 or whenever (if 3 wasnt needed for J.J) and yes FIRE BOWEN & get Allen, sign best available interior O lineman & good back up Tackle. And bring in a above average DB.

I was recommending honey badger for the defense overall, to get a veteran presence in there. Because a guy like Higgins on WR is way too pricey, and isn’t going to want to play second fiddle unless he is on a winning team with a good QB.
A decent CB is a must regardless of whether we draft Hunter, and we need another WR in FA too. We literally cannot play press coverage and give our guys a chance to get to the QB because our CBs are terrible. Phillips has been decent but is still really young.
Draft Hunter, get another CB in the draft and one in FA. Get honey badger to help with the secondary.
Draft a WR in the first 4 rounds, and add one in FA.
Draft a QB in the second round, because I’m sorry Marsh, but giving up ANY capital this go around isn’t going to fly. Not for Ward or Sanders. Maybe if Schoen had drafted well, I may say different, but he sucks at drafting. Period. Address the needs, don’t give an inch, don’t reach, ADDRESS THE NEEDS.

4. A guy like Honey Badger to mentor the defense
5. Offensive line!!! You will need 20m to do this. You should be leaving 1/3 of your cap space to literally tackle this.

As you said, the OLine is critical. We have Higgins in Malik and Slayton at 50% off. You don't like him but how many yards with Burrow throwing? he's fixed dropping, gets free and has 15yd/catch as #2 to Malik's 10yd. He will keep double /triple off Malik and won't break the bank. The best player in this draft is Travis, As a 55 year Giants fan, that's who I'm hoping for.
It is the most likely scenario if the top two QB's go 1 and 2. Can't reach for QB3 there, so it's Hunter, who fills TWO huge needs, even if his WR work will be very limited, at least at first. He needs to be our lock-down CB1, and it should be the main focus. If he's as great as he's been so far, then Daboll can incorporate him into the receiving core sooner and with greater frequency depending how he performs at CB.
