Love your video. I flew in a 2pm on Sunday. Scariest environment I could imagine. Planes flying holding backwards, people yelling at controllers, few people following the NOTAM. You did well. Your earlier oshkosh videos helped me prepare for my first flight in. Thanks for the great content.
was watching that afternoon/evening on one of the eaa live channels. it had fisk vfr audio and chat...had flightradar24 open on another window. massive clusterf that day. some pilots reported circling 16-17 times. the yt chat was rooting for one rv coming in from appleton...circled the lakes for 5 hours, flew back home, refueled and came right back in line. circled a few more times and wound up being one of the last planes allowed to land before they closed the airport.
I can confirm that. A buddy and I drove out to Fisk a couple times. Lots of planes were getting turned back and once, a couple planes just kept flying straight ahead despite the controllers telling them to turn back multiple times.
Nice job. Great video. We were the RV they sent to 36 then back to 9 at 6:15 in your video we had to circle back 3 times for FISKE most traffic I’ve ever seen going into KOSH neat to hear the controllers again. I had the same reaction when we switched to tower I thought I had dialed in the wrong frequency because it was so quiet at first. 👍
We have flown in here since 1986. After the first few times with this crazy action we started flying in on Thursdays which has been fantastic. You can fly in with very little to zero traffic and talk to the tower. Plus you can watch all the mass arrivals which come in on Fridays and then watch this action here on Saturday and Sunday before the show starts on Monday 😎. Good job guys keeping cool.
I was on the ground at Fisk at 4pm Sunday 22nd. Planes were coming up the track, up to four wide with no spacing. Controller was calling for a mile spacing and didn’t get it. Most were turned back, many ignored the general go back call. Some planes that were right of the tracks turned left across the path of those correctly on the track and those to left of the track. At any one moment we could count 25-30 planes in sight, most were not directly over the tracks, never saw a half mile spacing. Great video.
I was listening to the VFR tower at this time. It's like the controllers had to be babysitters. They told everyone what they needed (3/4 or 1 mile spacing). It seemed like a lot of pilots were going around, then cutting in line, so they'd make everyone go around again! Great job again.
That was awesome. I'm not a pilot nor do I know much about flying an airplane, but I loved that. To watch your expressions, and hear the controllers, it was great. Thanks
For those wondering the vid starts out SW of Ripon a few miles, the smaller lake on the nose is Spring lake and the large Green Lake to the left. Great vid and great flying in the chaos.
Outstanding Ripon/Fisk approach. You held calm in the middle of chaos when those airplanes cut you off at Ripon. Excellent flying all the way to the runway !
My father and I were trying to fly into OSH at the exact same time this was filmed. We circled about six times to ripon and ended up going back to Wautoma when we were both mentally exhausted. Good thing no one hit each other that day, there were definitely a few close encounters! We did end up making it in on Tuesday morning when it was somewhat foggy and there were far fewer planes trying to make it in. Read the notam and fly safe people!
Super video that can definitely be used to educate other flyers. Crew coordination was very good and Capt. demonstrated great situation awareness, timely decision making and fantastic choice of copilot!
Great to see a video of how tough it can be when it doesn't work out the first time. Great job keeping the eyeballs outside and making the right decisions! Excellent audio and video here....
I was out there in the middle of all that with you, somewhere. Circling Green Lake with at least 10 airplanes within a mile, 4-5 wide coming up the tracks to Fisk at times, turned back 4 times.......1 mile spacing was IMPOSSIBLE, anytime I'd get close, someone would cut in out of nowhere. Was pretty much madness and chaos!
Nice video - so busy! You guys are a great team. We flew into Green Bay this year, so we could get lodging that wasn't $400 per night....maybe fly-in next year and camp.....looks like fun!!
Very nice landing. A few minutes more we would have heard more about the Tiger Cats. At 14:03 Connie said something about rwy selection. At 15:47 the aircraft that passed in front of you right to left was the first Tiger Cat to land, Connie was behind him.
I've only flown in to Oshkosh once in a Cessna 195 back in 1984 I think. I was in the right seat. We arrived 2 days early. Not much traffic so we got a straight in on 36L. About a half mile from the runway the pilot took over. If I ever did it again I would go a week before..
Great flying, and CRM! Flew up from Tulsa OK on Saturday. got as far as Moline IL, took a look at the weather for Sat and Sun, did not like what was forecast for either day. Decided to keep the plane in Moline and rent a car to finish the trip. After seeing this and other videos, along with all the stories I heard during the week, it was a good decision. Missed landing at Oshkosh, but there is always next year.
Good Job! Busy approach and should count as flying into OSH more than once. You turned back three times.... If you're like me I begin to think about all those guys that are now coming at me. Scary but rewarding!
Great job with your spacing. I was on the ground and saw the bunched up arriving planes. The controllers wanted to keep everyone safe; when the spacing of the planes was good, the planes wer routed quickly and orderly. Reading the NOTAM is good preperation. Thanks for posting this video to help everyone make good safe decisions while flying. 😎👍🏻
It is highly suggested to fly in to EAA AirVenture Oshkosh with an extra person so they can have an extra set of eyes because of all the traffic around you it is very difficult to spot and see. Love this video!
Very nice job. I've flown in over 30 years, but I missed this year. I thought it was bad two years ago, but it sound like you guys set the bar this year. One thing about flying into Oshkosh, it's different every time. Pro tip: Skip breakfast and try to position yourself so your arrive at the airport at 8:00 a.m., when it opens, weather permitting of course. The traffic is much lower and you can breeze right in.
Nice! I hadn't see a video of landing on 36R. I heard at the event that Sunday arrivals were awful. Youch. I hope the work on better holding/deferrment procedures for future years, so that they can just tell people to go home and come back when arrivals are open.
Hello Captain - Congratulations on the video! I'm a CFI in Brazil, and also have an RUclips Channel where I talk about aviation. I'm making a video about Oshkosh, just to show to people here in Brazil, how crazy these procedures are! Unfortunatelly, I've never had the oportunity to fly-in, so I have none footage to share. So, I'd like to know if I could use parts of this video to show people how these procedures are. Of course, the original video will be credited and linked in my video, and I'll encourage people to came to your channel and see the full arrival!
I was in the same line to Ripon ahead of you in your first attempt. I remember the female controller coming on after the male controller got all pissed off. It was my second attempt. It was absolutely crazy. It was like being in a WW1 dogfight! I have no idea how there were no accidents. I had a Navion cut between me and the aircraft in front by about 100 feet. A friend came in a couple of hours later and had to go around 8 times.
What frequency is being used for plane to plane? What is he make and model of the headset the co pilot is using? On a scale of 1 to 10 what would rate the co pilot headset? Better than Bose?
Nice job, especially under the stress. Would you do it again? BTW, those Quiet Tech. Halo's are the best aren't they? I prefer them to my noise-cancelling over-the-ear ear clamps any day!
Looks like a good classic merge to me. It’s still like this in 2021 but you merge about 5 points west of Ripon so you have a longer flight in with an established line. Also everyone has ADSB out and hopefully ADSB in. When you see people on adsb not flying the full approach- that’s a cut off and really lame.
I'm beginning to think FISKE needs the paintball equivalent of an anti-aircraft gun emplacement to start laying down the LAW on knuckleheads. Nonlethal and nondamaging to planes after flying upwards of 1800ft, you know? Or, maybe less drastically, once ADS-B is universally required, they can call out your ID on air and have the authority to ban you from the Fly-In for noncompliance. Maybe it would sink in to people's heads then.
I have not flown into Airventure yet but I think 2021 will be the year. When you aborted your Fisk approach, how far out and back did you have to fly, or did you just do a standard 2 minute turn? Loved the video BTW !
flybob13 thanks for the comment! We flew out far enough to get out of the line of planes inbound on the approach. Then we flew back to Ripon, found someone we could follow, and started the procedure again from the beginning.
Coastline Aviation thanks for the comment! I have many Ram mounts in the cockpit (holding cameras, iPad...etc). The one on the yoke is the tough claw attached to a double socket swivel arm that holds an X-grip for my iPad Mini. www.rammount.com/part/RAP-B-400U www.rammount.com/part/RAP-B-200-2U www.rammount.com/part/RAM-HOL-UN8BU
You two kept pretty calm with all the activity around you. Great job!
Thanks!

It took me 4 hours and 30 mins to fly 30 nm from Green Bay to OSH in a 182. Very dangerous out there.
I can confirm that. A buddy and I drove out to Fisk a couple times. Lots of planes were getting turned back and once, a couple planes just kept flying straight ahead despite the controllers telling them to turn back multiple times.
Sunday 22nd at 4pm, that is what I saw too. I don't understand how "nobody is to go beyond Fisk" can be misunderstood.
Nice job. Great video.

Cody Braden that's awesome

I’ve never held my breath for 19 minutes and 6 seconds before..........phew nicely done and Hi from London UK :)
I was listening to the VFR tower at this time. It's like the controllers had to be babysitters. They told everyone what they needed (3/4 or 1 mile spacing). It seemed like a lot of pilots were going around, then cutting in line, so they'd make everyone go around again!

Oh good, I was hoping you'd do another vid this year - you two are such a fun crew to observe, do such a great job!
Kurt M thanks!
Wonderful Professionalism. Thanks for setting a good example.
Fantastic job! Grew up and learned to fly in Oshkosh. I never flew during EAA.
Smart couple with class. Good to watch
Another year of following you guys ...... good video .......... you make a very good cockpit team
That was awesome. I'm not a pilot nor do I know much about flying an airplane, but I loved that. To watch your expressions, and hear the controllers, it was great. Thanks
what a roller coaster! good job to you both keeping eye out for traffic
Thanks! It was an exciting arrival for sure!
Awesome video...I love listening to planes/ATC flying the Fisk approach.
A lot of OSH arrivals playing fast and loose with the rules. You handled it perfectly. Well done.
My father and I were trying to fly into OSH at the exact same time this was filmed. We circled about six times to ripon and ended up going back to Wautoma when we were both mentally exhausted. Good thing no one hit each other that day, there were definitely a few close encounters! So cool! Start of the video is right over my childhood home on Green Lake.
Super video that can definitely be used to educate other flyers. Crew coordination was very good and Capt. demonstrated great situation awareness, timely decision making and fantastic choice of copilot!
Warren Loone thanks!
Great to see a video of how tough it can be when it doesn't work out the first time. Great job keeping the eyeballs outside and making the right decisions! Excellent audio and video here....
Wing-rockin' cool work! Multiple break-outs, but you made it!
Awesome job and excellent video -- and it great meeting you two as OSH as well!
Thanks! It was awesome meeting you too! Hope your departure went smoothly.

There is definitely an advantage to arriving early before the show starts.
I landed there 20 years ago...fond memories...good job!
Nice to see your heads on a swivel and great communication!
She was the best ATC all weekend. LOL! I loved listening to her on liveatc.
It's crazy seeing these videos of people landing their planes where I once was. I also went to airventure 2018
Thank you for this video. Most videos make it look like you just get in line and go land. Nice to see a realistic video.
Great flying, and CRM! Flew up from Tulsa OK on Saturday. got as far as Moline IL, took a look at the weather for Sat and Sun, did not like what was forecast for either day. Wow, that would be unnerving . Well done. I hope to do this one day.
Nice job guys. Had been waiting for this upload. Thank you.
Good Job! Busy approach and should count as flying into OSH more than once. You turned back three times.... If you're like me I begin to think about all those guys that are now coming at me. Scary but rewarding!
Loved this video.
Looks like a very hard and confusing approach!
The strict VFR and the wing waving for ID.
I gotta come this year to KOSH.
Thanks for posting! Looks like you guys handled this pretty well.
Nice bit of flying and cockpit management! Hope you enjoyed the show.
You did a super job. Fun stuff.
Thanks!

I live in the area and its amazing that the FAA controllers at Fisk work out of a truck and picnic table.
Go Pokes! Thanks for the videos. They are great!
Been following the fly-in all weekend. Nice work by the two of you. Hope the stress was worth it.
Man I was puckered up the entire flight. Well done
Very nice job. I've flown in over 30 years, but I missed this year. I thought it was bad two years ago, but it sound like you guys set the bar this year. Great video ; thank you !I was in the Warbird arrival during your third attempt; on that side things were calm!
Many thanks for sharing, it gives us a good idea how this works - well done - congratulations!
Nice! I hadn't see a video of landing on 36R.
I heard at the event that Sunday arrivals were awful. Youch. I hope the work on better holding/deferrment procedures for future years, so that they can just tell people to go home and come back when arrivals are open.
Excellent video, well done the co-pilot! - UK
I wait for these every year another great job
You greased the landing with all that turbulence. Nice!
Hello Captain - Congratulations on the video!

Beautiful Couples Pilots I Subcribe to you guys. Thank for the Nice Flight
Thanks for watching!
Great Video. The lady who "was not the bad guy" could get a job as auctioneer any time she wanted!
That's just what I was thinking she sounded like!
Nice job...I was anxious just watching it. Have a great AirVenture.
Super job ... all I can say is better you than me - hope all that stress was worth it.
Most popular quote of Osh arrival “That Mooney screwed things up.” 😂
Holy smokes. Heck I was nervous just watching. Great job. Enjoyed yalls vid.
Great job. Way to be responsible flyers and turn left on your own, rather than crowding in.
That was an awesome video. Thank you for sharing.
Well done. Go Pokes! Flying Aggies class of '00 and '03.
I was in the same line to Ripon ahead of you in your first attempt. I remember the female controller coming on after the male controller got all pissed off. It was my second attempt. John Nicol Navions can do what they want...I thought everyone knew this...lol
So this is how bees fly back to the nest at the same time, without colliding.
Nice landing after that chaos!
Great job, both of you!
Thanks for sharing. Cool video
What frequency is being used for plane to plane? What is he make and model of the headset the co pilot is using? On a scale of 1 to 10 what would rate the co pilot headset? Better than Bose?
Nicely done, and a greaser to boot!
Thanks!
Good decision making
Awesome job. I love how your co pilot was helping by keeping her head on a swivel too. How does she like her headset ?
Scott Honigmann thanks! She really likes her headset.
Nice team work.
Nice job, especially under the stress. Would you do it again? BTW, those Quiet Tech. Halo's are the best aren't they? I prefer them to my noise-cancelling over-the-ear ear clamps any day!
Wow ,crazy traffic approach ,,good job guys

I'm in love with the ATC...

What a handsome couple.
Great job guys!
Dayum!!!! Great job!!!!!
I had at least 10 attempts. So many people were being idiots and trying to join between Ripon and Fisk.
Doing a left pattern to land on 36R (thus, crossing the flight path of 36L) would be stressful!
I flew in on sunday around 1 and was holding for 2 hours. It went up to 1 mile spacing for 9.
Great video guys!I have to do this.
Nice flying. Go Pokes!
I have not flown into Airventure yet but I think 2021 will be the year. When you aborted your Fisk approach, how far out and back did you have to fly, or did you just do a standard 2 minute turn? Loved the video BTW !

Scary. Nice job!
Wow. Normally, you can't see traffic on a gopro, so if we saw it, they were REALLY close.
Bloody hell too damned dangerous!
Nice work!
Well deserved, respect!
Only three tries, you guys were very lucky!
Great video! What type of Ram mount do you have and sizing ?
Coastline Aviation thanks for the comment! I have many Ram mounts in the cockpit (holding cameras, iPad...etc). The one on the yoke is the tough claw attached to a double socket swivel arm that holds an X-grip for my iPad Mini.
