Kayaking the Merced River (Mariposa Moments)

Beginning in April and running through early summer, the Merced River offers a range of rafting experiences. For a relaxing float through the calm, winding waters of Yosemite Valley, rafters can admire what Ansel Adams deemed “a vast edifice of stone and space” as they drift downriver.
In this episode of Mariposa Moments, we ride along with a more challenging whitewater kayaking trip, as the Merced gets really flowing during peak snowmelt below Yosemite Park and drops dramatically through the narrow canyons near the town of El Portal. Hang on!
