I'm so glad Barbra is going through her stuff and found a few tunes for us. I especially like her lullaby voice from the 70's. That's why she is so famous. Lot's of people can sing it loud and lot's of people can sing it soft but Barbra can do both. And rather exquisitely, too. Just hearing her do "Mother and Child" from the first Release Me, calms me instantly. I sure could've used that song in the 70's but better late than never. She's always had impeccable timing, bless her heart.

@@zigman8550 oh please, not that I don't love me some Karen but Karen voice doesn't have the diversity that Barbra's voice does. Karen was known for that low key voice. Her solo album failed because they tried recording it in a more Soparno/alto range and wasn't very good. That's why Richard won't release it. You should make comment which you have no musical knowledge about.

As most fans know, Bacharach wrote this especially for Barbra, but she passed on releasing it, so it then went to his go-to hit machine Dionne Warwitch ... but clearly, Streisand is who this song belongs with.
What a beautiful song and so true. We take too much for granted. I see so many homeless people and think to myself that could be me one day who knows. Be kind. "Be Aware"
This is the best thing I've heard from Barbra in years. What I can't understand is: Why didn't they release this song? Why did she wait all these years? It doesn't make any sense. This has the kind of magic that only Barbra can create. Her voice is stunning and the song is timeless.
I have always loved Barbra when she sings you feel it in your whole body beautiful.

The song "Be Aware" was written first for Barbra Streisand over 50 years ago by Burt Bacharach and Hal David. It had been premiered in March 1971 CBS-TV special. It has been recorded by many other notables. It has a moral message that rang true then and as much or more currently. It finally has a Barbra Streisand music video to go along with it. Bravo to that.

@@thizizliz You are very welcome!!! Much of the Burt Bacharach-Hal David music is not dated, but still applicable to the modern era. They made it to be timeless and they did that so well.

It is nice to notice some of the younger talents in music recognizing these great Bacharach-David contributions to the music world and the world at large!!! They put a modern twist to it, but the core message is there. It is nice that some of the originals, such as Barbra Streisand, have put together new material like this official video on older musical works of art.

O.M.G how relevant is this !? In these desperately troubled times, it's like Burt and Hal had an insight into the future, I'm just blown away by this. These lyrics are so powerful and true. I've loved Barbra's voice and her acting since she begun but I've never heard this song before now. There's a few lovely power house diva's out there but none to compare with this beautiful woman and I don't think there ever will be.

It is unfortunate this song was not released when Streisand was able to reach Millions. She spent so much time on liberal and political causes that she might not have realized her power to make a difference, where, a difference really needed to be made. She is by far the greatest singer of all times, however, it may be to late as I do not think that she is able to reach millions today, unfortunately. However, I wish her all the luck in the world with this one!

I'm 22 and going through a pretty difficult time in my life. This is the first time I'm hearing this song and I'm in love. Especially when she says "while you speak your mind, others can't speak. Be aware." I'm still recovering from an assault from my abusive ex and that hit hard. I've also been homeless and starving too... My gosh, how have I not heard this sooner.

So relevant given the age of this recording. I listened to Barbra's interview regarding this song. How it was mixed flawlessly and it sounds like it was recorded yesterday. It is truly a beautiful message and one that should stop and remind us all to look beyond ourselves and be mindful there are is more to life than what goes on in our personal spheres. Sobering, beautiful, sad, yet hopeful message to make each and everyone of a better version of ourselves as we take note of those who may not be as fortunate. Just a lovely, lovely song.
