madeline i would LOVE a book recommendation video from you guys for the truly nerdy stuff. whenever you talk about wine's history or grape genetics i just want to know more and more and more.
Great video. I completely agree. When we delve into wine we discover a huge amount of history and human emotion. 99% of my friends just drink wine and I do my best to make it more interesting for them, mostly to no avail. They are missing out. Folk like us are the lucky ones. WT
Is decanting or straining aged red to remove sediment a mistake? Is sediment where the largest concentration of beneficial micronutrients are? I personally love high tannin wines. Recently discocered riberio del duero. Italian is my main focus.
I recently ordered a half case of a wine from the area of Georgia (the country) where wine purportedly was first made, called Lost Eden Saperavi Red Blend. This particular wine is grown and bottled in the Kakhetian region of Georgia, and claims an 8000 year history of winemaking. I am glad I tried it although while “interesting”, once was enough and I won’t necessarily seek out this particular wine again! Sweet yet dry with very distinct fruit flavors that are unfamiliar at least to me and certainly distinct from any other red wines I’ve ever tasted.
Some of my favorite wine is saperavi from Georgia. They’ve many complicated world class wines at very reasonable prices. All without using oak which is unique.
Oldest evidence of wine-making is found in Territory of republic of Georgia, near Tbilisi ( in Shulaveri ) Piece of clay pot( Qvevri ) and there was layer of wine and pips , Check the facts. Armenia only has 6000 year evidence , Georgia has 8000. So should be objective when you name the place of the Origin of wine.
We did mention Georgia. And I’m pretty sure I said “one of the oldest” as new discoveries are continually being made in this greater region at large! It’s a very exciting time!
@@Winefolly @Winefolly yes, you mentioned Georgia and the whole region, but I'm pretty sure you said "the oldest evidence is found in Armenia" dates back to 4000 BC and that is incorrect. Just facts!

Think I was sort of right - I thought Mesopotamia - when you talked about the origin of wine :-)

mads, please focus on consumption rather than nit-pickery...we all just want to see you tipsy!
How can wine have started 8000 years ago when the Earth is only 6000 years old?
Oy Vey...
