This was the final recording session for the Beatles. Held in March of 1970. John was nowhere to be found so the Threetles carried on hence George's comments in the beginning. It's amazing to think that Ringo's 30th birthday was only 4 months away which means no Beatle turned 30. They created all that amazing music in their 20s. Astounding.
It was actually held on January 3rd 1970. Let It Be was actually the last recording session with a majority of the Beatle present a day later on January 4th 1970 where they recorded various overdubs to get it ready for a single release.
Everyone gives Paul shit for being down on George, but look how many instruments he played on this in the overdubs to help. John didn't care at all, wasn't even there
The brass and strings are a revelation - sounds like Atom Heart Mother! (Richard Hewson of course, although the pictures show Spector.) Great keyboards from Paul as well. This is really a major track.
I read in the recording the session's book that this was the last complete song they recorded. albeit without John Lennon, They did return the following day for overdubs on let it be. But this was the last complete song they ever recorded..
Would you be able to deconstruct and isolate the take two of don’t let me down on the roof top? I love Paul’s bass at the end and would love to hear it isolated
I do plan on doing all the rooftop at some point. I'm getting through most of the Let It Be album takes first. Right now I have the album take (take 1) of I've Got A Feeling almost done. The rest will be out not sure how long though.
Paul was very displeased with the Spector production, and protested it, but it went out, which is probably why years later they put out the “Naked” version.
In my opinion it was the right decision to allow the Beatle instrumentation to shine. Spector did the exact opposite for the Long and Winding Road and I think that was way too much.
Phil Spector additions were fine for what they were, but damn they're soooo fricking un-Beatles... I can barely stand the original album as it is, it just doesn't sound like what we'd expect from the band (in a bad way). obviously, I'm not talking about the songs themselves or their performances, they're perfect as usual. in retrospect, its production has got nothing compared to Pepper's, white album and Abbey Road. it could've been a great raw live Beatles album, but instead it was turned into an uncharacteristic mess. even though they were all uninterested in 1970, I'm sure all four Beatles gave their "ok" for it. however I keep thinking about how it could've been so much better and potentially their best late phase album IMO. unfortunately, "Let It Be... Naked" isn't quite there either, sounding too digital and overly edited. I wish we had a true Beatles' Let It Be album (or "Get Back") without all those inconvenient dialogs, the out of place Spector production and the unnecessary edits like the copy+paste in I Me Mine or in the title track's last chorus. oh and if it wouldn't be asking too much, I would love Dig A Pony with the "all I want is..." bits 😁 after this hesitant negative comment, Anthology's I Me Mine is gorgeous, it should've stayed like that.
I like "Let it be... Naked", it's the closest we have to what it was originally intended to be. Besides, Don't Let Me Down is among the tracks, an unforgivable omission from the 1970 album.
I absolutely love that drumming! Ringo was amazing in the 60's
And the kit sounds incredible!
Never thought I'd hear the isolated choir, thank you so much!
Those strings are absolutely beautiful. Also I never heard the horns in the song before. Thanks for posting 👍🏻
Ringo is magic !
What an acoustic guitar! What a bass! What strings! And aah, what a drumming, Ringo!
What a cool deconstruction...really feels more like an Evolution documentary, befitting such unique chronology in the Beatles' catalogue.
So many amazing layers, but those strings should be its own symphony. Incredible.

@@isolatedstems you’re right, January 3rd. My mistake.
Never realised how funky the bass line was in 4/4 section
Superb. So many hidden layers of sound never heard before.
The orchestration is majestic
Thanks very much for this.
Genius.

Delightful!
The bass part is straight out of Pet Sounds.

The Beatles in 1970 but no John. Still the Best Band in the world hands down!
Those strings 🥹 bring hope to the condition of I, Me, Mine
Either improve the situation or revel in it
The Hammond is absolutely gorgeous..
Strings recorded in Abbey Road Studio #3 ?
supreme 🙏
Shame those strings were lost in the mix

The choir sounds like it comes from a sampler. I thought geo was using his moog?
The choir was recorded live on April 1st. It's just not a great extraction.
FINE
An amazing George Harrison song….!
It's sounds like a fretless bass
No. Rickenbacker.
It’s definitely the Rick. It had been repaired by this point.

Phil Spector made a lot of garbage in the album let it be.🤮
His entire "career" is strewn with garbage. Only a handful of exceptions.
